I am 7wks PG & the Dr I recently saw weighed me then coughed and muttered something that its not surprising I am putting on weight & then went on to lecture that its a myth that I have to eat for 2. I just nervously laughed
but ddnt mention I think I am eating for the whole of England!!!

I am just so hungry, i have all ready had eggs on toast, tea, sandwich & a bowl of cereal, big bowl of fruit and now thinking what I can eat next.....so how much r u eating???

not eating for 2, but am eating for one who suddenly has a baking compulsion i'm eating full fat where i would have used minimal fat before, always having breakfast, having a snack mid-afternoon and not fussing if i really don't fancy cooking and want a takeaway instead.

and yes everyone has started commenting on my impressive bump in a "good lord what's she going to look like in 3 months time" kinda way. fk em

DivaSkyChick · 28/02/2007 11:15

I'm eating for two. However, one of us has the appetite of Arnold Schwarenegger.

greenday · 28/02/2007 11:30

I'm 15 wks pregnant. For the last 10 weeks, I've been eating 5 - 6 meals a day. I've been hungry constantly and unable to control the hunger pangs.
The situation has been improving now. But I struggle with cravings now (unfortunately, they've been for KFCs!!!). So if it isn't the quantity / frequency I'm guilty of, it's the high content that I have to contend with.

thehairybabysmum · 28/02/2007 11:36

shedloads!!! and im only 8 weeks. Was going to weightwatchers before i got pg again so i'm making up for not being on that too.

I'm sure i read that creme eggs are good for a baby's development anyway

SANA, you are eating loads but at least healthy, today so far i have have had branflakes, 1 mini roll, 1 creme egg and a pain au choc (this was all before 9.30 am too!). I have a chesse/salad sandwich for lunch plus crisps and another mini roll and i havent even decided what tea will be yet!!

Im like greenday, constantly hungry and typing this has made my tummy rumble {disappears to rummage for mini roll in bag}

MrsBadger · 28/02/2007 11:43

Like Greenday I was starving and ate like a horse for the first 12 or so weeks but it's tailed off recently (15ish) - I am still having a Twix with my afternoon coffee where I wouldn't normally though .

At the risk of incurring ency from all quarters I haven't actually put on any weight at all yet...

dejags · 28/02/2007 11:44

Average day:

Breakfast : Large bowl of muesli and low fat yoghurt or toast with butter and fruit
Tea/Coffee

Mid-morning: Fruit with 1 slice wholegrain toast or a small muffin

Lunch: Sandwich/Toast&Fruit

Dinner: Usually a healthy meal

After dinner: Chocolate ice-cream

Not exactly a weightwatchers dream, but it's healthy for the most part. I have some really bad days when I scoff biscuits and cake but they haven't been as frequent this pregnancy.

greenday · 28/02/2007 11:45

My lowest point has to be last week - KFC binges on 3 consecutive days (the most being a 6pc variety meal, fries, zinger burger and soft drink) ... shameful!!!!

dejags · 28/02/2007 11:46

Oh I am 28 weeks and have gained 16lbs.

greenday · 28/02/2007 11:49

MrsBdager - what??!! how did you not put on weight at all?? You're so lucky!
For what it's worth, because I recognised the sad fact that I can't stop myself from eating or giving into my cravings whilte pregnant, I make up for it by going to the gym 2x a week.

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 28/02/2007 11:53

Nutella butties for breakfast.

Banana for mid-morning snack.

Last night's leftovers for dinner.

Chocolate biscuits for mid-afternoon snack.

Mars bar on the way home.

Whatever dh has made, for tea, normally a big healthy meal with lots of vegetables.

At my last mw appt I had ketones in my wee so she said I should eat more! (She did put the caveat "little and often" on that though!)

MrsBadger · 28/02/2007 11:59

sorry greenday
Not due to any effort on my part though, I think it's just lucky genes - I'm from a family of skinnymalinks.

Not much, i am at least 14 weeks (will find out in friday as i finally have my dating scan) i think i'm 16weeks.

I feel hungry, but i start to eat get about halfway and feel realy sick.

Today i have had

Cup of tea
Bowl of frosties
a bag of crisps
a small bowl of homemade chicken and noodle Soup.

Taichimum · 28/02/2007 12:31

Loads and loads. I am just bored because I can't drink alcohol. And I love food. I am only eight weeks and am fat as a house already. Eating twice as much as I normally would and am three stone heavier than I would like. My BMI is awful.
However I have no car and where I live is very hilly so i get a lot of exercise. My DS keeps me run ragged too and I practice martial arts. Under all the rolls of fat I am pretty fit bizarrely.
Exercise does give you a bit of an allowance to eat a bit more I think. I would be obese if I ate what I do without my active lifestyle. I know this is no excuse as I am still far too heavy but it does make me feel slightly less guilty as I pop open the pringles (my pg craving)

Twiga · 28/02/2007 12:47

23+3 and not eating a huge ammount more than usual but am eating all the wrong things - crisps and dip, chocolate, lemonade - all my cravings this time seem to be for junk. With dd I had very healthy cravings of fresh salads and big bowls of fresh fruit.

Miaou · 28/02/2007 12:52

I'm eating more than usual (I'm 19 weeks) but not much more, as the m/s is only just starting to subside! I find that most nights I need to eat a bowl of cornflakes before I go to bed. I also had the nibbles this morning so made a batch of garibaldi biscuits (but they are dh's favourite so I might not see many more!! ). My m/w commented when she saw me last time that she wants to keep an eye on my weight because she doesn't think I'm putting on enough (have a small bump too) - but I'm not too worried. I can guarantee by 30 weeks I will be the size of a house

First two pregnancies I really needed to eat more than usual, but the last two have been overtaken by m/s so not eaten as much. Today I had cornflakes for breakfast, then soup and bread for lunch followed by a couple of biscuits. This afternoon ds and I will go down to the shop for some milk and I can't see me leaving there without a bar of choccy . Tea tonight will probably be beef curry, then cornflakes before bed. I find it difficult to snack between meals at the best of times and pg seems to be no exception.

(sorry all of you who have weight issues, I'm afraid I'm like MrsB and don't put it on easily!)

endlesslove · 28/02/2007 13:41

Hi there. I don't really eat enough in my opinion and what I do eat is mostly junk. Just totally gone off food!

Lizziemum - can i have your reciepe for chicken and noodle soup please - sounds yum!

SANA · 28/02/2007 14:33

Okay girls, i am going to conclude I am eating like a horse. I dont think I have put on any weight as yet but my tummy is def very bloated and my size 12 trousers are held up by a safety pin ( as I cant do up the button) this really is not so good for so early on

when I was pg with DS1, I hardly showed for the first 5mths & didnt eat as much. I know I am eating to much, thats why I am trying to stick to healthy stuff. I feel sick all the time ( and only by eating i feel better for about 5mins) I am never ever actually sick. Okay i think I am going to go the gym now ( havent been in 2 weeks)but some of u have inspired me

I'm 36 weeks and still eating tonnes despite the fact there is no room whatsoever. Its just habit now and not even all that healthy

I will have some serious work to do at the gym after this baby comes (though I'm secretly hoping breastfeeding and looking after 2 small children will magically make the weight fall off)

MrsMar · 28/02/2007 17:14

I'm 10+5 and I'm eating what feels like loads, but I haven't put any weight on yet. I had a massive lecture from one of the gps at my surgery about pregnancy weight, so I've been trying to eat healthily.

Today I've eaten:
2 weetabix with semi skimmed milk & teaspoon sugar
One slice toast and half fat spread.

Four little feta parcels (trying to use up stuff lurking at the back of the freezer!!)
Bowl of home made parsnip soup
apple

Banana

Just had a slice of toast with nutella (eek!) with a cup of tea.

Going to make a mushroom risotto for dinner.
(I'm off today, so picking opportunities are much greater, I'm better when I'm at work and too busy to think of food!)

I weigh myself practically every day and I haven't put a pound on which amazes me as I'm eating so much more than normal, plus I've been rubbish about doing any exercise other than walking alot. I did read somewhere that if you were overweight before you got pregnant that you tended not to put too much more on during pregnancy (Unless you went bonkers!) and I was three stone overweight before I got pregnant so maybe that's why. I'm not sure but keeping fingers crossed as I'd hate to have 5 stone to lose afterwards, esp as I'm going back to work to a much more physically demanding job so I'm going to need to be fit!!

BarryTook · 28/02/2007 17:16

am 19+3 and eating way too much rubbish

again

and i swore i wouldn't this time

but am gaining weight at the right rate so not overly concerned

just keep reminding myself to eat oily fish and seeds every so often to counteract the choc biscs

Alibobster · 28/02/2007 21:08

Being a constant yo-yo dieter it was a joy not to count calories. So many people said to me 'oh you'll proably go off your food at the start and actually end up losing weight' I should be so bloody lucky! My appetite increased tenfold. It was like having the hangover munchies and I craved carbs. I would eat fruit, like a banana but only if it was showed between a big warm doughy bagel! No wonder I put on three stones

MrsFish · 28/02/2007 21:29

I am 9 wks and haven't put on any weight (yet), I haven't had any cravings so far, but have gone off my vegetables (just like with ds) I am trying very hard not to overeat as much as I did with my first pregnancy, I put on three and a half stone that time, managed to get back down to the weight I was when got pregnant with ds, then found out I was pregnant again. This time though I have ds to chase after and I go to the gym twice a week, whereas first time round I was doing a desk job and hardly walked anywhere during the day.

sazzybee · 01/03/2007 02:02

I'm a bit worried about my friend who doesn't eat much normally as she watches her weight like a hawk and is still doing so now she's 27 weeks pg. I'd be surprised if she's eating more than 1000 calories a day - certainly nowhere near 2000. Is it bad for the baby or will it just take what it needs?
I'm eating like a pig and have put on 2 1/2 stone (I'm 38 1/2 weeks) which I'm alright about. I reckon I'm probably consuming less calories overall with cutting out booze
