Pregnancy after infertility or fertility treatment can be a scary place, from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding to other random symptoms.

We are a supportive group of women across all stages of pregnancy who are used to being on the wrong side of the odds and still can't believe it's really happening.

Thanks everyone. It feel good to just get it out on here. My rlfs just don't really understand what's going on although they are supportive.

I've had the first dose of steroids, baby is doing well. ( it's just my body letting him down Sad) no infection either. I'm not sure what's happening yet but clearly full term is out of the question now. Hopefully when I see the doctor tomorrow I will get a plan of action.
I didn't know that blueroses! Thanks for that I will put it to them tomorrow! Im 29.4 now, everybody is saying I've done extremely well to get this far with having PPROM at 18 weeks.
Physically I feel fine, but my anxiety is through the roof, steroids making me feel a bit like a rabbit in headlights.
Thanks for all your support. I will update you soon. Hope everyone else is doing well. Xx

Blueroses99 · 04/03/2017 07:11

You've both done really well Friends, especially after the PPROM after 18 weeks. Babies do really well at 29/30 weeks. I'm still at risk of PPROM and will be really happy if I get that far. It's great that there's no infection and baby has responded well to steroids. Keep your strength up xx

Must be so daunting for you blue Flowers hope all goes well at your 20 week xxx

They are hoping to get me to 34 weeks, im on rest now. I see my consultant at 32 so decision will be made then if nothing happens before then. Think I'm gonna take myself for a private scan next week to make sure he's still growing. At least I can then give the consultant the information from it at 32 weeks because they won't scan me again now becaus i had one last week xx

Hello all

I've just had a brief catch up. Friends, it looks as though we've had a similar few days! On wednesday night about 6pm I was watching tv with DH when I felt a gush. Honestly thought my waters had gone so rushed to the loo to find I was bleeding quite a lot. I am pretty sure it was the most terrifying moment of my life. Rushed to hospital and they hooked me up to a monitor. Baby was ok, so that eased the panic a bit but they said that the cord and placenta looked fine and couldnt see what/where I was bleeding from and I was having contractions. Because I wasnt in established labour and wasnt dilating, they gave me a steroid injection and said to be prepared for an emergency section in the next few hours, but that if possible they wanted to wait til I'd had a second steroid injection 24 hours later. Got taken up to the labour ward, saw the aneathsetist (sp?) just in case, and had to have my blood sugar checked every hour because apparently the steroids play havoc with them. By thursday morning, contractions had eased and bleeding was drying up, so they moved me to maternity and continued with hourly bloods/monitoring etc. Had the second steroid injection Thursday night. Consultant said that I will be booked in for a c section between 37-38 weeks and no later, but that they fully expect baby to make an appearance before then based on the last few days. Today, they've said I dont need to stay in and have sent me home this afternoon with strict instructions to have alot of rest and to call them if I feel ANYTHING out of the ordinary. Quite honestly, I was terrified of coming home because on wednesday, there was no warning - no cramps, no pain, I didnt bump myself, nothing! - and I am so scared of being here on my own and it happening again, especially since they dont know where the bleeding came from. I've only been home a few hours and I am already jumping at every little twinge and nervous about using the toilet. Its going to be a long few weeks!

Friends, I hope you are ok and I'm glad baby has been fine with steroids. They arent the nicest of injections are they! You've done amazingly well to get to this point, and the steroids will be a big help if baby comes early. I'll be thinking of you!!

Apologies for no other personals just yet. I think Im still half asleep as my longest sleep since Tuesday has been about 3/4 hour at a time, and my finger tips look awful from all the jabs! I will have a proper catch up over the next couple of days but hope everyone is doing well.

RoseBud2016 · 04/03/2017 17:47

Gosh! Friends and MPP What an awful few days you must have both had! You must both be going out of your mind!
So pleased to hear that you have both discharged and are resting at home now. Obviously I really hope that your little ones stay put for as long as absolutely possible, and that neither of you have any more scares. Flowers
Much love and positive thoughts to you both xx

Custardandcream · 04/03/2017 18:07

Friends & MPP you must both be so worried, Flowers and positive thoughts to you both x

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/03/2017 18:43

friends and mmp you have had a very emotional Time :(

If it helps a friend had her baby at 28w. Was tiny - think of size of 330ml coke bottle but he is now a nutty 1yr and tho a tad small he is meeting all milestones

Babies have a huge chance of survival at this stage tho Obv no one wants to give birth that early

Try and keep calm. Relax. Legs up etc

Thinking of you both 💐💐💐💐

friends123 · 04/03/2017 19:24

Oh my goodness MPP! I totally could of wrote your post on how everything happened. I was also really shocked because I didn't have any warning signs, I went to the toilet thinking it was just discharge (I seemed to be having loads a few days prior) It was just a whirlwind and it all happened at work.
I just went into total shock, they couldn't get any needles in to take blood because everything just shutting down. I was having an horrendous panic attack.Baby friends was going crazy, so he must of known. :(

They never mentioned anything about my placenta. Do you have a posterior position? When the doctor checked they thought they could see some of the membrane hanging though my cervix.

I wish we could take those monitors home! Did they give you a scan then? I've been sent home with similar instruction. I've not slept at all either, I couldn't believe how painful the steroids were!

How many weeks are you now ? Hope everything goes smoothly for us both MPP.Thinking of you xx

Thanks ladies for all your support.x

Blondes. It's reassuring to hear that. It's just trying to get your head round something that you still can't predict, I feel so full of fear of the unknown. Xx

Blueroses99 · 04/03/2017 20:08

MPP and Friends what an ordeal you have both had this week! It's great that you've both been discharged to keep the babies cooking for longer but agree with Blondes that you're babies have excellent prospects if they arrived now. Take it easy and get lots of rest xx

Oh friends and mpp so sorry to hear of your traumatic few days. Glad you are both at home now resting up and your little ones stay snug in there for a while longer. Must have been very scary for you both Flowers

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 05/03/2017 05:17

HopefulKate1980 · 05/03/2017 08:20

Thinking of you both friends and MPP. Hope you manage to get some sleep, rest and brightness very soon. Sending lots of love xxx

MPP81 · 05/03/2017 09:18

Thanks all! Its been a bit emotional and overwhelming! As Friends said, thank you for your support.

Friends, its the lack of warning signs that worries me the most. I feel like, if I knew I'd had massive cramps or something like that before it happened then I could keep an eye out for the same signs again and have some warning but there was literally nothing. So scary! I also had the couldn't get any needles in problem. I had a scan and that was when they checked baby, my placenta (which is anterior - no idea if that makes a difference in this case), the cord and my waters but couldnt see anything. Then they did an internal exam with a speculum and couldnt see anything that way either. They said in a large portion of cases of bleeding they dont actually find a cause and whatever it was, it didnt affect Baby MPP in the slightest because his heartrate/movements etc were all fine throughout. I was 33 weeks yesterday, and theyve said that baby is a good size and he's had two doses of steroids now so he should be ok if he comes early but they would rather him be in til at least 35 weeks if possible. I see the consultant on Thursday to look at booking in for a c section. Thinking of you too, and hoping everything goes well. Keep us posted!!

friends123 · 05/03/2017 13:14

That's good that they did a scan on you MPP . My hospital doesn't seem to like giving scans out. I know I had one last week but I also didn't have a bleed then.

I've been concerned about a placenta issue. However they didn't seem too concerned because I have a high posterior position.

You're in a really good position MPP, and those extra pounds will certainly help baby if they do come early. I know that doesn't stop the worry mind. I'm still having a lot of brown, clotted blood.I rang triage but they are not concerned because it's old blood. Anyway, babybond have squeezed me In for a growth scan at 6.30 tonight to check everything. I don't know what I would do without them sometimes. Keep us updated MPP, much love. Xx

Chocolateandwineplease27 · 05/03/2017 15:13

Bloody hell mpp and friends - v glad you're both OK and back home but must be terrifying. Really hope both babies hold on as long as possible xxx

JustTrixie · 06/03/2017 10:39

MPP and Friends, thinking of you both and hoping that you don't have any more scares.
Just to add my experience, my niece was born at 30 weeks and a close friend had her baby at 29 weeks, both did really well and are absolutely thriving now.

Welcome to the thread Scream

Congratulations on the birth of your little boy Smurfy lovely name.

17 weeks here and feel like time is dragging....I'm just desperate to get to 24 weeks and am literally counting down the days!

Blueroses99 · 06/03/2017 14:52

Trixie me too! 18 weeks today and feel like I need time to speed up!

My reduced activity and increasing weight mean than I'm getting all sorts of aches and pains again so seeing a new local chiropractor today. Miss my usual one but can't manage the commute to central London.

Hope everyone is doing well today xx

friends123 · 06/03/2017 21:42

Thanks Trixie, I've been reading so much about this stage so it's good to hear positive stories.

I remember the stage around 16 weeks and it goes so slow! Hopefully the week's fly by for you both.

My scan went really well yesterday, I was really relieved to see no problems with the placenta etc.
I'm unfortunately back in hospital, :( rang to check my swabs were okay because I was having a brown watery discharge with clots. They told me to come in to be checked and my cervix is now open at 1cm. They said I could go in labour or that sometimes it can still take weeks. So just waiting and hoping I get to 32 at least. Sad

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/03/2017 23:00

Oh no friends :(

Can't they give you something to delay labour?

friends123 · 07/03/2017 07:14

They've not mentioned anything blondes, just that it can happen quickly or not for weeks. I will certainly ask. They just said if it t it starts to happen before 32 weeks then they will give me some medication to help baby's brain. I've just turned 30 weeks today. My poor DH he doesn't know what to do with himself. Xx

Custardandcream · 07/03/2017 08:46

Oh Friends, how are things this morning?

Thinking of you and your DH

friends123 · 07/03/2017 09:53

I've just seen my consultant this morning. On a wait and see approach, if I get to 34 weeks they will deliver me then.

MPP81 · 07/03/2017 13:35

Oh no Friends! Glad there's no problem with the placenta but I'm sorry to hear you're back in hospital. Hopefully baby will hang on for a few weeks for you. I hope you're ok.

Nothing new to report here really. I'm having like a brown jelly-like discharge but when I rang the hospital they said anything brown doesnt concern them and only to worry if theres bits of red there too. Consultant Thursday and I cant blinking wait!!

Keep us posted Friends. We're all here for you and thinking of you xx
