Downs Risk 1:11 waiting for NIPT results

Hi

I'm new to this group and I'm after some encouragement. My combined bloods and NT came back as a risk rating of 1:11 for Down syndrome. We've been advised to take the NIPT test and then depending on that result the CVS. My NIPT results are due back from Wednesday and my CVS in scheduled for Friday. I haven't been told the readings of my blood work and I've not received the report. The scans all looked positive and fine apart from the NT 3.4mm. Anyone had the NIPT and then had the CVS for reassurance?

I sympathise too, the wait is awful. I did find it easier over the weekend as I knew that I wouldn't hear anything so it was easier to try to switch off. I hope you are doing ok Flowers

Still no result some problem with the machine so they were running the sample again yesterday afternoon. Torture. I just hope after this that the sample is still viable.

Thinking of you while you wait. I had a cvs on Thursday for a 1:17 risk of downs and am waiting for the results. It's torture and I feel bad for wishing the days away. My nuchal fold measurement was fine at 1.3mm but my bloods put me at high risk. HCG was 2.2 and papp-a 0.35.

I hope you are keeping busy and not worrying too much. Thanks

I've had a call earlier this evening from the lab in London. She said she couldn't discuss the report as she's sent it onto the clinic where I had my sampletaken but everything was "normal". I'm so relieved. I was just heading out to my moms surprise 50th Birthday so we were elated and celebrated our own news. I'm so happy and relieved. I'm still not sure about having the amino or do I just go with this "normal" low risk result. Confused but so relieved! Hope you get the news your after Dragonfly thinking of you.

That's brilliant news. 💐💐💐

MommaGee · 15/01/2017 01:21

Glad you got a good result OP. Our geneticist told us the risk of a baby with a genetic abnormality was lower than the risk of a miscarriage. That answered that one for us. Just try to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy xx

Mooseville · 15/01/2017 06:49

Awesome news, and how nice of them to phone.
Our risk results came back as 1:1000000 so we didn't have the amino and decided to take those odds!

user1483777778 · 15/01/2017 06:55

Mooseville - They are some pretty 000000s at the end of your odds! I know I was soooo chuffed my husband was there to im eager to get the report now 😂 I think I have a problem with waiting for things. It's completely normal though to want to know the news I suppose!

That's such fantastic news, you must be over the moon! I should hear tomorrow or Tuesday and have everything crossed, this waiting is so hard!

user1483777778 · 15/01/2017 07:23

We are Dragonfly we were so full of doubt about the result but couldn't be happier. Hang in there we had to wait 10 days was complete torture but we survived through it really have my fingers crossed for you!

Fantastic news - so pleased for you! These NHS tests cause so much unnecessary stress.

Mooseville · 15/01/2017 08:14

I know, I thought it only went up to 1:ten thousand but when she said one in a million I nearly cried! I'd have been happy with one in a thousand however and still not had the amino I think? Seems crazy to have an invasive procedure on top of a good result.

The NHS testing is seriously flawed, I've read sooo many posts and spoken to so many people with high risk results and so few of those have ended up with bad news. It seems so out of proportion.

user1483777778 · 17/01/2017 06:01

Well I decided not to have the amino needle and we have started to tell family and friends we are pregnant ! Feels very real now but I think I will still worry until my little arrives ! Have you heard Dragonfly?

dragonfly1978 · 17/01/2017 07:30

So pleased you are telling friends and family, how exciting!!! I didn't hear anything yesterday Sad (my phone was glued to me all day), i guess it will be today. I may try and give them a call if they haven't rung by lunchtime as this wait is killing me!!

Seahawk80 · 17/01/2017 08:05

Dragonfly, do call them if you don't hear. The same happened to me, spent the Monday glued to my phone (it was my birthday so horrible timing). Still hadn't heard by 3pm Tuesday. I called and they were like, oh yes we have your results here. I was lucky and it was fine. I do think that the bad news results get priority as obviously they take longer and further arrangements need to be made. Fx yours are on a good results pile waiting for someone to have a moment to call. I'll keep everything crossed for you, I know what a hard time it is Flowers

user1483777778 · 17/01/2017 08:21

Yes I completely agree you must call them I was hot on their tail after the Thursday. Fingers crossed x

Ps just read back, I had my CVS on a Thursday too so I think you should def hear today.

dragonfly1978 · 17/01/2017 09:33

Thanks Seahawk. I just tried calling but no answer!! Will keep trying today

FrizzBombDelight · 17/01/2017 09:40

Hi all, sorry to hijack the thread! I'm 20weeks and I've had no mention of these types of blood tests. I gave three vials of blood at my 12 week and my 20weeks is tomorrow. I'm in NI, do they do those tests here?! Good luck to any one that is worried, I'm almost grateful I've been living in blissful ignorance!

dragonfly1978 · 17/01/2017 10:12

I just had the phone call and all is ok and I am having a boy!!! Thank you all for your support, the waiting is awful.

user1483777778 · 17/01/2017 10:15

Ahhhh that's great news Dragonfly! So chuffed for you! A boy aswell so lovely !

Hi Frizzbomb - your results would have been posted to you giving you a risk rating I would say if you've not heard personally they should all be okay. But if you've not received your results call the hospital to see if they have your results there!

So glad!! It really is the best feeling. I'm jealous you found out the sex. We'd decided on a surprise and then I changed my mind after the cvs (probably was a control thing) but DH was really adamant that he didn't want to know. I'm quite likely to have a ceasarean so I know I'll be glad I waited in the end!

Now go have a fancy soft drink to celebrate!!! Or a glass of wine - you deserve it!

FrizzBombDelight · 17/01/2017 10:48

Great news :) I did a bit more googling and the tests are only available privately here for about £400 but looks like I'm too late for it anyway Confused

dragonfly1978 · 17/01/2017 10:53

Thanks Seahawk! I am so relieved, it really is a great feeling. My other half wanted a surprise for the gender but after the last few days I won that discussion and said I wanted to know!!
