I'm getting to the end now (38+1) and went over with DD1 (40+5). Everyone around me is convinced baby is coming any day but I'm trying not to get excited/ think too much or I'll drive myself mad!

Intrigued to know stories of DC2 to pass the time please! Did they come earlier or later and was the second labour really quicker? Hmm

Boobs sore today, a sign I wonder? Haha prob not!

Yes, earlier and quicker :)
Fingers crossed its soon for you

RedCrab · 13/11/2016 11:03

Yes very much so! By almost four weeks. Two weeks overdue with DC1. DC2 arrived at 38+4. I went on a three mile uphill walk with DC2 and she arrived that day. I had no idea what the start of labour felt like as I'd been induced with DC1 so it took a while for the penny to drop.

RedCrab · 13/11/2016 11:04

And yes, quicker too. 40 hours versus 6.

WowserBowser · 13/11/2016 11:04

I had no signs of labour with DS. My waters went and i gave birth at 40+1.

With DD i had mild contractions from 38 weeks. I gave birth at 40+3

The whole process was a lot faster and a lot better. As was the recovery.

She's 2 and half weeks old now and so worth the wait Smile

kimlo · 13/11/2016 11:05

dd1 38 weeks
dd2 39+4

everyone evern the midwife told me dd2 would be earlier than dd1, shame no one told her that.

Groovee · 13/11/2016 11:09

Dd was induced at 37 weeks. D's arrived at 39+5

NickNacks · 13/11/2016 11:10

Yes 20 days earlier.

nennyrainbow · 13/11/2016 11:10

Slightly earlier but only a few days in it. Off the top of my head, I think DC1 was 40+2, 2 days after a sweep. Had I not had the sweep, I would guess he might have been a day or two later. Dc2 40 weeks exactly, no sweep. Dc3 39 +1, dc4 40 exactly. I have heard that the first one is often late.

tabulahrasa · 13/11/2016 11:12

DS (first baby) was born on his due date, DD was 10 days late...

The second labour was a doddle compared to the first though, much quicker and easier.

nennyrainbow · 13/11/2016 11:12

And yes, after the first one, labour is much quicker. A couple of pushes and they were out!

windowsneedaclean · 13/11/2016 11:28

DC1 40+6, DC2 40+14. Had to be induced with DC 2. DC2 weighed less too. Good luck - hope you're not waiting too long!!

UnicornPee · 13/11/2016 11:30

DS1 39+6
DD2 41+5

I asked the midwife your question and she said it's a 'how long is a piece of string' question

Hopelass · 13/11/2016 11:32

DS1 arrived at 39+4
DS2 arrived at 38+5

Shemozzle · 13/11/2016 11:35

Dd1 40+3 21 hour labour (start to finish)
Dd2 39+1 6 hour labour (start to finish)

But I know lots of people who have had early first bones and 2 week late seconds so it's not a given! I think the people who struggle the most are those that have 'been told by everyone it will be any day now'. Midwives should be banned from saying this! No one can predict! Plan for going overdue or you will drive yourself mad and not be able to relax enough to get it going.

Chuckaluck · 13/11/2016 12:43

DD was born after a sweep at 40+6 and am 42 weeks with DC2 today - on my way to hospital for induction!

Nikki2ol6 · 13/11/2016 12:45

He came a few days earlier and he was a lot quicker!! But there again it is hard to beat a 4day labour!!!

Enjoythelittlethings · 13/11/2016 12:51

My ds2 was earlier and the labour much quicker! I'm hoping with ds3 this trend continues!

AliceThrewTheFookingGlass · 13/11/2016 12:52

DC1- went into labour at 38+6 and gave birth 24hours later. No idea how long each stage of labour was but I pushed for an hour.

DC2- went into back labour at 40w and gave birth almost 3 days later. Again no idea how long each stage of labour was but I only physically pushed about 3 times and he was out.

Trinpy · 13/11/2016 12:52

Dc1 was 40+3. 8hr labour with 40mins second stage.

Dc2 was 39+4. 12 hour labour with less than 5 mins second stage.

Frazzled2207 · 13/11/2016 12:54

Dc1 went into labour on due date, arrived 40+2.

Dc2 arrived 40+10, a whole 2lb heavier than dc1. However the whole thing was a lot quicker and less unpleasant.

ohidoliketobe · 13/11/2016 12:56

DC1 at 40+4 and DC2 at 39+6. So yes earlier and quicker, quicker, QUICKER! I cannot emphasise this enough - me and DHL were pottering around the house when I was in labour 2nd time thinking we had ages, then things really ramped up and I only.just got into hospital in time. Seriously, we're talking abandoned car at the entrance, on my hands and knees at the entrance to the maternity unit, dragged into a room by 2 midwives and baby born in 2 pushes. I only just managed to get my leggings and knickers off!

EnglishBreakfastTea · 13/11/2016 12:59

DD - 40+11 (induced)
DS - 40+11 (not induced)

I've come to conclusion that both of my children were too comfy to move!

DS labour was a lot faster, only 2 hours from waters going to delivery but was so much more intense! Think I'd pick the slow, calm induction over the "you've got no time for pain relief" 10lb shock that was my son!

Hoping you don't have too much longer to wait Cake

LBOCS2 · 13/11/2016 13:00

DD1 was induced at 38+3, took about 10 hours.

DD2 came at 41 weeks and took 3 hours. Was very nearly born in our bath at home...

Beachmum85 · 13/11/2016 13:39

Oh my goodness, keep them coming! I hope this one is quicker than the first (which was horrendous)!
