Hmm. Thought the third trimester was 26 weeks on, but just checked and it turns out it's 28! Bit premature of me!

Hi all

Congratulations on the scan UKi - can't believe you are that far already - and you firststar. Doesn't seem that long ago that we were on the TTC after mc thread!

Hope all well with everyone else?

I had consultants appointment this morning, which was a bit of a waste of time, but got to hear a really good strong heartbeat, which is great news. After much discussing they've moved my due date from 23/9/07 to 29/09/07, which is much nearer by own calculation of 02/10/07, so i'm happier now!! Baby will come early now anyway, but at least I know if they have to induce me at 36 weeks as they did with DD, it will be 36 weeks, not 35 weeks!

Wasn't given any chance to ask any questions about obstetric cholestasis or anything - just told to come back in 16 weeks and see midwife in between. A bit frustrating as I had lots of questions, but when I raised the issue about the due date and the possibility of inducement at 35 weeks rather than 36 weeks, I was told by the midwife who was also in the appointment, that I'm obviously a pessimist if I think i'm going to get it again. I had been told that I have 50:50 chance of getting it again, so not that pessimistic, just being a little bit realistic. Probably won't get it again anyway!

Hope everyone else is doing ok - everyone keeps speaking of sunshine, its really overcast here - but there is a beautiful woodpecker on our bird feeder which is wonderful!! Better get on with DD's thank you cards.

off on holiday for a week tomorrow morning, so I'lll catch up when I'm back.

take care all

xxx

Oh god I am now parinod I am having an eptopic pregnancy. I have a niggling pain on my right hand side been there for a day, then went and is now back again. I am going to see if it is still there on Thursday and if it is make an appoimtnet to see my GP.

Oh god I can't wait to get to 20 weeks and have had a scan and now that everything is OK. Before my mc I was so laid back through out my other pregnanies and now I am a parinod wreck"

Glimmer · 03/04/2007 20:00

Hi Cazzy. Welcome to the paranoia club. I am still more comfortable posting on the limbo thread than here, just because I feel more in limbo than really pregnant. Again, just some copying mechanism.
How many weeks are you now? I think by now they should be able to confirm an inauterine pregnancy on a scan. I had bleeding and pain on one side for a while, and was very concerned but then it switched to the other after several days :-). But I was very relieved when they confirmed an inauterine pregnancy at a 6-week
scan that I had because of all the bleeding.
Now, if you would have an ectopic, you would have at some point dizziness, fever and very intense pain. So chances are you are absolutely fine, but if you get any of those symptoms, race to the GP or even better E&A.

Glimmer · 03/04/2007 20:03

cazzy -- have you checked out the 'period-like pain' thread under pregnancy? There is lots of reassurance from women who experienced everything from period-like pain to stabbing pain and everything was fine.

cazzybabs · 03/04/2007 20:04

I am 5 weeks...no I don't think I am having an epoptic pregnacy really...but I do have a niggling pain down my LHS when I think about it. Didn't hurt all today except when I was sat reading MN thinking about babies...

oh well I shall watch out for other symtomns.

Jossiejump · 03/04/2007 21:26

Hiya
Sort of feeling a little more positive and ready to join you (fingers crossed seems to be my phrase at the moment)
Didn't want to post on the pg 4 weeks after m/c because of Spaceman's news, so here I am.
Basically-2 x DS, the 3 m/c in April 2006 (6 wks pg) and August 2006 10 wks pg, missed m/c by 2 weeks then Feb 2007 (chemical pg), then low and behold 4 wks after m/c a BFP!
Had a scan today (2 weeks after BFP), which dated me at exactly 6 wks pg, saw a heartbeat (although I saw a hb at 8 wks with m/c 2 so can't get my hopes up too much.
Have to self inject with Clexane due to a possible clotting problem and here I am-totally paranoid by every twinge, can't relax each time I go to the loo and can't quite believe it even though I am shattered and feeling very sick!.

StrangeTown · 03/04/2007 21:33

Jossie - you have made me brave enough to join to!

I am also pretty much 6 weeks pg following a m/c 7 weeks ago.

Had an early scan too and saw hb yesterday, but I feel exactly the same, very cautious. I suppose things are as good as they can be at this stage and we have to keep positive.

Jossiejump · 03/04/2007 21:41

Hi Strangetown-it doesn't feel so scary with others in the same boat!
I think you can only be knocked so many times before you get scared to get too optimistic-stangely I didn't ever consider that things might go wrong when I was pg with my boys (I wish I was that innocent now!)

StrangeTown · 03/04/2007 21:48

Yes, I was so blithely happy in my first pregnancy - it was a horrible shock to get to the 1st scan and be told it was a missed m/c. That's my biggest worry now, that something goes wrong (which is bad enough, I grant you) but that I won't know and will carry on making all my stupid mental plans. Will you have another scan before 12 weeks?

Jossiejump · 03/04/2007 21:59

Yes The EPU has made an appt for 9 weeks (partly due to injecting the Clexane (low molecular weight heparin)

fettleandminifettle · 03/04/2007 22:06

Hi Jossie & Strangetown - welcome. It is awful how the innocence of pg is taken from you once you've had mcs - but you will get there. These first few weeks are awful, but this thread is great for those really bad days!

I had 2 mc last year, and conceived immediately after my 2nd one - I'm now 14+3, so finally relaxing a little bit, but still knicker checker slightly - don't suppose i'll even totally relax about.

look after yourselves

Off on holiday tomorrow for a week, so I'll wish you all a Happy Easter and speak next week.

take care

StrangeTown · 03/04/2007 22:42

Thanks for your message Fettle - have a lovely break.
I'll be knicker checking all the way I think!

Welcome to Jossie and Strangetown! Good to see you again, Strangetown. I was just thinking about you last week 'cos the partner of one of my colleagues had a missed m/c and I was debating whether to say something or not. I did in the end because of your post some time ago, but I don't think blokes have the same need to talk stuff over, tbh!!

Morning to everyone else!

Hello Jules!

Have a great holiday, Fettle. We have next week off work to try and make some progress on our house, so while you're hopefully basking in the sun somewhere, you can think of me covered in paint and grout!!

Cazzybaby - I'd definitely try and get a scan to be on the safe side. I have intermittent stomach pains on one side or t'other, but I think it is due to constipation, rather than anything sinister... Oh the joys of pg...

One more working day to go until my extended break. I will try to log in from time to time at home, but find it hard to find time. Ds will be at nursery still next week, but my dsc will be staying with us for the whole week so I think it's going to be hectic! I have told dh that they are not allowed to sit on the sofa all day watching tv and playing computer games so they have instructions to bring stuff to do. Whether my plan will work or not is, of course, another question!!

StrangeTown · 04/04/2007 09:23

Thanks Mump and Jules for your lovely posts.
I hope you colleague is ok Mumpbump - it is a difficult thing to talk about, so well done. I really appreciated those who were brave enough to say how sorry they were...
Hope everyone is having a Good Day.

Glimmer · 04/04/2007 11:22

Hi everybody and welcome Strangetown and Jossie! I know precisely how you feel, am only two weeks ahead of you guys. I just had my 2nd scan at 8 weeks and saw strong heartbeat. Little one seems to be a fatty and is a little too long for its dates (nothing to worry though), but he/she makes me eat constantly so at least some of this extra-food is finding it place not on me...

These first weeks are very draining, I personally found the early scans very helpful. I had a mmc at 12 weeks and the scans are reassuring that at least nothing has gone wrong yet, although there are still many things that can go wrong in the future.

I am not sure I am able to describe the following twisted argument that helps me a lot: I imagine that of all the pregnancies that work out, there is heartbeat and right measurement at 6,7,8 weeks. So there is nothing that is indicates that mine shouldn't work out. Somehow this backward way of thinking about it, namely that there is no inidcation why mine shouldn't work out this time around, helps me.

Hi Jules99, hope to see you here not too long from now.

Mump -- enjoy your break!
Fettle -- enjoy your holiday!
Everybody else -- hi and enjoy the Easter break!

Will be myself on and off since I go away over Easter and afterwards to a business trip to Canada. Am a little freaked about the long flight and possibility to catch the flu or something, but it will be a very good disctration until my next scan in three weeks. I decided to go for a NT scan.

StrangeTown · 04/04/2007 12:42

Glimmer I also have 2 week business trip to US coming up soon and I am worried about medical insurance and how to access healthcare should I have any problems. Do you have any advice?

Thanks
ST

Glimmer · 04/04/2007 13:30

Strangetown. I am all set with health insurance
(I have an international health insurance from Belgium to start with and US/Canada is much cheaper than UK, so no problem here). But I would check out various travel insurances, to what degree they would cover pregnancy related emergency care. I had to use my one once in the past (before I had my current insurance) and they covered everything besides the deductible. Also, when you go for a business trip, normally you should be insured by your employer for the duration of the trip. You could just ask your employer, if you could see the conditions for their travel and accident insurance. Good luck,

Hmm. Not good. I agree that you need to take the attitude that you just have to do whatever is necessary to get the baby out safely.

I had plans for a home birth which I gave up because dh was so worried (I thought I'll be out of my head on gas&air/pain so what do I really care about where I am), then was hoping for a water birth which I gave up because ds was induced and was determined not to have an epidural, but couldn't stop pushing so (choice being epi or pethidrin which goes through the baby too) ended up having an epi in the end. I really wanted to try to avoid a c-section because it is major abdominal surgery and the recovery time is SO long, but at the end of the day, you have to make sure you're okay.

I think what I'm trying to say is to keep an open mind about your birth choices. I'm sure it will all be well in the end and you're over half-way there!
