Waters broken 27+4

[LBNM19]

My waters have broken, a couple of gushes this morning and had it confirmed at the hospital. Ive been admitted and waiting for steriod injections and nicu to come, bloods to be taken etc. I am 27+4. Anyone else been in this situation im worried sick. He isn't due untill the 12th of jan. X

I haven't experienced this but didn't want to read and run. Will be thinking of you.

No not atm but they have told me 80% of woman will go into labour with 48 hours. Just hope im the 20%.

I've had a 24 weeker and a 30 weeker both due too my waters breaking early.

They both came within 48 hours I have hear of women carrying on till term.

The steroid injections help massively and at 27 weeks the odds are much better then 24/25.

I'm sorry your going through it, it's really shit. I would ask to speak to a neonatal nurse if possible and if your hospital has an nicu. Mine were lovely and really put my mind at rest a little bit

Fwiw my daughter was the 30 weeker and was in neonatal 6 weeks this was nearly 4 years ago.

Best of luck OP. My waters broke at 25 weeks but I managed to hold on to 32 weeks. I was hospitalised from 25 to 28 weeks and then allowed home with checks up in hospital every other day (I live right near my hospital). Thinking of you

I live very close to the hospital to so hopefully if he stays put then i won't need to stay the whole time. I am in St George's hospital in tooting and the have a brilliant NICU here.

Unfortunately my oldest son is severly disabled and need lots of extra care so for me to be in hospital for a long time will be very hard on my partner, its only me and him or a nurse who can look after him.

We also have a little boy who is 2. He doesn't have any health issues.

They were both born at term and i can't quite believe this is happening. Never thought it after everything we have all ready been through with our oldest.

My waters are still leaking alot it is horrible, bloods yestersay showed the crp (infection levels) were just within normal range. So they have repeated this morning and waiting for doctors to come round. X

Just wanted to wish you lots and lots of luck and that I'm thinking of you. My eldest was born at 26 weeks almost nine years ago and spent 11 weeks in scbu. It is incredibly scary but the doctors and nurses are amazing and do wonderful things.

St George's is absolutely brilliant - you will get the very best of care there. DS1 was born there at 24 weeks 11 years ago and was looked after superbly well. A pp is entirely correct that the odds at 27 weeks are a lot better than they are at 24, and every single extra day counts. You and your baby are both in the best place possible. Thinking of you.

I have a 7 year old who was born at 27 weeks due to pprom - my waters went with him at 22 weeks. I also have a 30 weeks who's waters had gone at 30wks :) it is possible to stray pregnant for quite a while after losing waters early and every day counts ❤️

If you search on here for prom or pprom you'll come accross loads of good info. There are a couple of good Facebook pages too if you search for the same thing.
