Older daddies to be??

Just wondering if any of you lovelys have an other half who is that bit "older" and a first time daddy? My hubby is 43 (,I'm 31) and this will be his first child although he has taken my three as his own and is the best step dad I could ever wish for 😍 . He is so nervous about being a daddy for the first time and doesn't help that ALOT have said crap about our relationship \ marriage the whole way thru etc, I know he will be amazing if not wayyyyyy over protective and stressy lol 🍼👶🙈 xx

We were both older, but not such a large gap between our ages.

I really don't think number of candles in your last birthday cake is much of a guide to how people take to parenthood.

I'd be more concerned about why so many friends have made adverse comments. If there's a pretty united view from people who care about you, could they be right? Or do you need new friends?

Just people being bitchy tbh cos he is older and cos I already have three young kids etc..

We were 30 and 43 when we had our first. Not a word was said, though the PILS were surprised and delighted because they didn't think he'd ever breed

43 really isn't that old - at least, not among people I know, anyway! I know lots of people (men and women) who have had first children at 40+. There are pros and cons, obviously - but the pros include greater maturity and financial stability, neither of which is to be sniffed at!

Definitely agree I never see his age tbh I never have but people he works with have made few blokey remarks about him being "too old" to be doing night feeds and dirty nappies. He is such a sensitive sod he been worrying alot he may not cut it as a dad etc bless him xx

My hubby soon to be first time dad in his early 50s, I'm 20+ years younger. Lots of grumbles from friends re age gap at first, I just glared and told them to get lost. Now they're either use to it or realise they can keep their comments to themselves.

DP was 46 when we had our DD.

Yep - wouldn't change him for the world. And maybe he won't be playing football in the park with our teenagers but he will be an amazing dad

Slightly different but my Dad was 40 when I was born. He is a brilliant Dad. He's still extremely active now at 71 years young! Age doesn't mean a single thing and your hubby will be just fine, the fact he is so worried proves that he'll be a good Dad x

My dh was 47 and I was 32 when I gave birth to dd last December and he was a first time dad! He is a brilliant daddy, we are a great team and I think dd will only benefit from having an older daddy. We have a laugh that he is the last one of his friends to become a dad and whilst their kids are teenagers here he is just starting out!

Never had any nasty comments about our age gap and we even notice it, it just works between us

Meant to say at the end there that we don't even notice our age gap!

Aww that's beautiful tessiegirl 🙌 my hubby gets proper worried about being the only mate with kids at his age bless him! Mind you I had my first at 20 n now going to be 32 wen I have my fourth gotta admit I'm secretly nervous about it but I feel so much more settled and mature in my 30s than I did in my 20s. If that makes any sense😂 xx

My husband turned 45 last week and I'll be 35 when we have our first baby in December. I think he's slightly nervous about being the oldest in our nct class next month but other than that im not sure if he's nervous being older?

becciandbump my hubby is only nervous cos he has a really nasty mate who has told him from start that I'm obviously a gold digger and "what would someone like her want to do with a old fat bloke like you and told him his is stupid for wanting a baby at his age etc" just vile tbh but my hubby is sensitive n it all makes him fret deep down then he will tell me how he is worried n stuff x

I'm 43 and first preg /baby and DF is 49. Just 50 as bubs is born

Tho will be his 4th child but other 3 are all in 20's

I know he is horrible bloke think he is just one of them people who like to see you fail or on the shit tip and it's killing him how happy we actually are lol xx

mummyandwife that's awful and he sounds like no mate! We had the odd couple of comments how did u bag a younger woman but all said in a joke and laughed at, our friends cod t be more supportive xx

My other half is 48 and we've just had our first child. He is an amazing dad (much better at nappy changes than me).

Gotta say my best friend has been the most supportive and them my parents ( but obviously they was bit worried about us getting married.. was bit quick for there liking!)lol xx
