With DC1 their bedroom was decorated and cot assembled 4 months before I was due...this time I am 34 weeks and new baby's room is still filled with junk various household items.

Last time my (specially purchased) hospital bag was packed by 28 weeks...this time I will probably be stuffing items into a carrier bag the night before my c section.

When I finished work last time I had a lovely few weeks of buying lots of lovely baby bits then sitting in coffee shops watching the world go by...this time I will be running around after a toddler and trying to fit in various exciting errands like getting the car serviced and dentist appointments.

Anyone else completely unprepared for the arrival of DC2?

36 weeks with dc2 and my good intentions aren't keeping up with my sinking energy levels or my toddler. The nursery is decorated (not by us) but otherwise a complete tip. On my first day of mat leave 3 weeks ago I washed all the newborn/0-3 clothes, but they're still sitting in a pile in the cot. Same for all the bits of car seat and moses basket that needed washing. I'm trying to thin out dd's baby books and quietly move them into the baby's room but she keeps finding them and taking them back. The tandem buggy seat I ordered has arrived at the shop, but I just don't have the energy to think about driving over there and loading it up... Dd arrived early before we'd bought/unpacked/built/tidied/etc so I was determined this one was going to arrive to a finished house. Oops.

If it makes anyone feel better I'm 31 weeks with my first baby and just as disorganised! Baby's room isn't even emptied of stuff yet, clothes everywhere (stuff we've been given, haven't even bought that much Blush)....in terms of practical things I've bought a multipack box of wipes, a changing mat and a bedside crib. Grin Furniture is getting delivered this week. Haven't even thought of my hospital bag! God help my second child when I have one, lol

How's everyone doing? I've washed some of the smaller baby gros and vests I have and started to do a proper checklist. Moses basket and car seat have been located, cleaned and reassembled. Feeling more organised

I was having labour dreams last night and it's given me a kick up the arse!

ohido I never took anything to the charity shop. However! Our shower has leaked into the spare room, which needed to be done for DD, so DH is starting that at weekend.

At this rate our new kitchen (about half way through doing it ourselves) will be put on hold until Christmas and Turnip2 is here.

Can I join? I'm on to number 3 but a big gap, my boys are 9 and 7 . I'm 15 weeks so have a while but so much needs sorting in our home. We only have a 2 bed and don't plan on moving until little one needs their own space. So far I have a bottle steriliser and whatever clothes I have left. I sold everything because I wasn't planning on having any more until I got broody again. My neighbour approached me the other day to say she had a pram, I thought oh that's kind until she went on to say its been used by her and her friend and she wants £50 for it Hmm. I've seen a travel system in Argos for £99 and I have £45 in my valued opinions account so think I might go with that.

Oh we also need a bigger car, get rid of the 2 sofas I have that have been wrecked by my 2 cats and get a sofa and arm chair hopefully.

38+1 over here and not very organised at all. Dc1 came a week before due date too so perhaps I should put a wiggle on. We were super organised last time.

Made a half hearted attempt at the hospital bag this morning, could only find one flip flop so I have an empty bag with one flip flop sat next to it. I gave up after getting frustrated at the flip flop situation.

Desperately waiting for the nesting instinct to kick in...

I'm going to have no.2 in the same room as dd1 who will be 2 by the time they move out our room. Is this a bad idea? Oops. I thought I was just being super chilled. Uh oh

Well I had a midwife appointment this morning and she was talking to me about appropriate snacks to pack in my hospital bag...I looked at her a little blankly and she said "you have packed your hospital bag haven't you?" Well I've put a few bits and bobs in a bag but no idea what I packed and what I've forgotten. Definitely no snacks bought let alone packed!

I also forgot to take my notes to the appointment today Blush so that was helpful!

Grin great work foxes - we took snacks last time and they sat in the car for 6 months. I'll say she's talking cobblers!

prettyflowers am laughing at the thought of a single flip flop next to a bag!

As this is my first I was wondering if anyone could tell me what sort of size bag they use? I thought I'd only need something small but my pack of maternity pads are so bloody massive that they pretty much half fill a small holdhall I have Confused

Yes! Can I join you please?
23w with DC2, so still time to get organised but I know I will be running around madly in 12 weeks time or so and panicking that nothing is ready! DC1 still in cot bed etc, so we have a co-sleeper for DC2 but nothing else sorted. We are moving house at some point next year so no point setting up a room for the baby, we have no space to anyway!

I'm 28 weeks with DC2.
His room is still full of boxes and general shite from when we moved house 7 months ago. I haven't got any furniture at all to go in that room, so all the clothes we have for him (pretty much everything was given to us second hand by friends, I've only bought a couple of new things!) are still in two giant carrier bags.
I have got a car seat and new bouncy chair, and the doubles kit for my "new" (second ha d but new to me!) pram.
When I had Dd 15 months ago, I would have dreamed of having anything second hand Shock because I was being a snob and her bedroom was all kitted out and beautifully painted by this point Blush

Can I join?

34wks with DS2 and no where near ready. Moses basket still in loft. Pram and car seat ordered but currently in pram shop until I/DH remember to pick them up.

No room decorated as we still haven't moved to bigger house although our room is big.

1st pregnancy everything was ready and polished by now Confused I haven't even started my hospital bag and there's a good chance I'll be delivering in the next 3/4 weeks (high BP/sick this whole bloody pregnancy).

Finished up work and so far managed to wash all the newborn clothes. And got DH to grudgingly build the changing unit (almost ended in divorce!)

OMG I could have written this.. 2nd baby, 28 weeks and a work colleague said to me the other day " have you got the nursery ready" by response was... If by nursery you mean the cot at the end of my bed then yes I'm ready!!! We only have two bedrooms so there'll be no nursery for this one, no rocking chair in the window to watch the world go buy... He's having DD 2nd pram, cot and car seat!!! I just don't have the time... He'll be loved just as equally which is the main thing and he won't know the difference or particularly care!!!! As my DSis said when I found out I was pregnant "it's your 2nd you can eat pate if you want to" GrinGrinGrin

Can I join 38 weeks with ds2 I am practically very organised everything is bought washed put away and ready to go however this organisation has been an attempt to ignore the disorganisation in my head about labour birth and recovery I'm completely avoiding thinking about it by washing things Sad

I wasn't very organised with DC1 tbh! Couldn't see the point in decorating a nursery as such, just made it a nice room at some point in her first six months before she moved in there. This time, I don't even have a room for the new baby. Hmm. Not sure that a six year old and a baby will share a room well..?

Me!! I was studying and working with final exams at 36 weeks and ML due to start at 38 weeks. I had a list of things that were going to be done once I started ML, but DS2 was born at 37 weeks. Most have still not been done and he's 13yo now Grin

I'm 21 weeks so got a bit of time yet however I am always at the last minute. With DS I lobbed some stuff in a bag at 38 weeks just so I could say yes the next time my mum asked (she is Mrs Organized) it was repacked when I was in labour.
I don't have a bag yet. Snacks what are they for?

I'm laughing at the one flipflop.

Notes are kept in the car, doesn't have I haven't parked and walked all the way to the department of the hospital and spotted someone else with theirs duh!

Love this. I am 32 weeks with DC2 and no where near organised. Spare room/nursery full of bags, piles of crap and random stuff from DC1 that I can't remember what it is but dare not throw away in case there is a reason I bought it the first time round! No hospital bag, no cot, no car seat (can't bloody find the baby one) and no washing done. Starting ML in three weeks but ELCS booked in for 37 weeks so not a lot of time. Very glad I'm not on my own though!
