Seriously. Is it true that women have periods all throughout their pregnancies or is it a great big fat myth.

Btw, this is really a "please put my mind at rest cos I am pooing myself" thread

NbgsYellowFeathers · 27/01/2007 19:09

Blandmum · 27/01/2007 19:10

Very, very rare, but it does happen. My father was proof!

NbgsYellowFeathers · 27/01/2007 19:10

just can't seem to find a cause for it.

lulumama · 27/01/2007 19:10

there has been a major D&V bug going around

NbgsYellowFeathers · 27/01/2007 19:12

I hope its that then That'll be the first time I've ever wished that on myself lol.

lulumama · 27/01/2007 19:16

bless you honey

if you are using contraception & had a period, it is very unlikely x

ELF1981 · 27/01/2007 19:17

probably not what you want to hear, but a friend of mine had TWO surprise pregnancies, she had periods thoughout and never had any other symptoms

NbgsYellowFeathers · 27/01/2007 19:23

la la la not listening Elf

Must admit we have been a bit lax on the contraception side but but but very very careful, if that makes sense.

Mum's 8th PG she had periods up to 6 mnths

so it can happen

its not exactly the norm though

and there are some serious vomiting bugs going rpund ( I know I tested last week after one and being 3 days late, got my AF later that day LOL)

NbgsYellowFeathers · 27/01/2007 19:47

Ahhh that does put my mind a rest a bit peachy

Might just send dh to the shop to get a test then at least I can have a decent night sleep lol.

Hmm i am in this very same situation at the moment & pooing myself too

I messed up on my pill last month & done the deed a few times, i did hav what i thought was a period but it was lighter & different to my normal ones, i carried on taking my pill this month, but i now have sore boobs & tiredness, myperiod is due again in about a week, i just pray i am being paronoid

lulumama · 27/01/2007 20:23

it does make sense, but it is far from foolproof, especially if you are a fertile couple !

anisse · 27/01/2007 20:55

I did I did ! I had bleeds at 4 wks,8 wks,12,wks.

Sorry, should I stop talking now?

Would it be a good thing or not nbgsyellowfeathers?

Ps: I am really somebody else using a new name cos I have just posted something naughty elsewhere!

NbgsYellowFeathers · 27/01/2007 21:01

Well it wouldnt be wonderful thats for sure.
Ds has only just turned 5 months and dd is just getting over that lol, never mind me.
Really really don't want another child and really really do not want to be pregnant again.

might be possible that if you have a coil fitted that might help, as too late for MAP..i;d call NHS direct and ask re that if you are really worried ....

cece · 27/01/2007 21:03

happened to my friend she went ot doc as kept being sick.... 4 months pg and af all that time...

ScoobyDooooo · 27/01/2007 21:05

Oh no don't say that anisse i just read your other thread, were you on the pill?

Goodluck NBG i have ds who is 4 & dd who is 1 &really not in a position for another baby yet arrggghhhhhhh

anisse · 27/01/2007 21:15

Scoobs, no wasnt on the pill, apparently it happens if the cervix hasnt managed to fully close? Quite common.

nbgsyellowfeathers I sympathise.
Was it a normal type period? mine were very scanty, not my normal ones if that helps at all?

Nasty d and v bug going round.

Probably just that sweetie. Try not to worry and do a test to put your mind at rest.

anisse · 27/01/2007 21:16

Ps: Scoobs mine isnt even one yet either!!! Hence the shock and not trying .

ScoobyDooooo · 27/01/2007 21:22

Oh no now i am scared my last af was not normal...i think i will just keep telling myself i am being paranoid

lulumama · 27/01/2007 21:41

what is that about the cervix? your cervix , after vaginal birth, is always a teeny bit dilated...unlike a cervix that has never dilated.....so every woman who has delivered vaginally, or dilated during labour, has a cervix that is a little bit dilated......

NbgsYellowFeathers · 28/01/2007 11:42

My periods have been quite normal, slightly weird day wise but very normal other than that (sorry if TMI)
I've noticed this morning its more my stomach that feels a bit wobbly rather than feelicg nausceous (sp).
Will go to the Dr's this week and investigate.

Good luck to you Scoobs!
