Does anyone else find most pregnancy clothes are really horrible??

Can anyone recommend a good-nice brand? I am 28 weeks and I want to start buying maternity PJ's and nighties for the hospital but everything I find its just horrible!

Thanks!

They are all awful aren't they! I've got a few ok bits from Top shop and gap. X

RochelleGoyle · 30/06/2016 22:25

They are so awful! I am nearly 30 weeks and can't believe how bad the selection is, particularly on the high street. I have no great recommendations but I have found the odd thing in Gap's maternity selection (online only).

Same here!! 30weeks second baby. Last time I just bought a size (or two) bigger in pjs and nighties, going to do the same this time. But everyday clothes atm is maternity leggings and dresses!

lovesunnysummers · 30/06/2016 23:11

Oh, so glad it is not just me!! I still fit in all my clothes except my jeans, so I bought some maternity jeans from Top Shop that I really like! :) But now looking around for nightwear it feels like they are designed to please my grandma! ja!

Have you tried ASOS?

KP86 · 01/07/2016 08:08

New Look (online) has some nice stuff. It won't last forever but you don't need maternity stuff to!

they are having a big sale at the moment, a lot of stuff is 50% off.

MyBreadIsEggy · 01/07/2016 08:10

I got lots of comfy night things and sleep bras from George at Asda online!! I thought because they are cheap and cheerful that they wouldn't last more than a few washes, but I'm now pregnant with my second, and sleep bras from last time are still going strong!

Augustwedding · 01/07/2016 08:18

Jojo Maman Bebe have lovely pjs!

Imaginosity · 01/07/2016 09:09

Try non- maternity jeggings. I bought a few pairs in Primark in a size bigger than what I normally wear and they are really comfortable. I'm almost 30 weeks now and think they'll do me until the end as the fall under the bump and and the waist is elastic.

Some people I know just bought normal tops in a big size - but when I tried this they never sat right on me.

LemonadeGirl08 · 01/07/2016 10:06

Have you seen the website nine in the mirror- it's quite pricey (but there is a sale on at the moment) but also good to look at for ideas of what to wear.

GruffaloPants · 01/07/2016 14:46

ASOS have nice stuff.

I just get huge button down nighties instead of maternity pyjamas. They are good for post birth as well. Last time got some m&s, which have held up well for this pregnancy too.

BlackeyedPetitsPois · 01/07/2016 14:49

Another recommendation here for ASOS.

I've got some maternity jeans and casual tops from New Look, other than the few maternity tops I have I just wear my ordinary blouses and tops. I'm 23+1 with twins and getting pretty big so with some things, like blouses or shirts, I need to wear them open with a vest top underneath.

For jammies I just wear my OH's t-shirts, i'm blooming boiling during the night and 9 times out of 10 the t-shirt comes off anyway!

Heatherbell1978 · 03/07/2016 07:07

H & M have a great range which includes pyjamas. I bought everything from there with first pregnancy and will need to top up with this pregnancy as I'll be pregnant at different time of year!

BathshebaDarkstone · 03/07/2016 07:13

I went to New Look because we were skint, I bought 2 t-shirts, some jeans (I'd always wanted maternity jeans but couldn't afford it with the first 3), and a summer dress (DS2 was born in late August). I bought maternity/nursing nighties and a "Does My Bump Look Big in This?" t-shirt from Mothercare.

Artandco · 03/07/2016 07:14

Seraphine

BathshebaDarkstone · 03/07/2016 07:25

Ooh, when I was pregnant with DS1, I asked my mum, who was a designer, to alter a chiffon petal dress for me, as a customer had asked her to do it a few weeks before. I felt so pretty swanning around Glasgow, and Edinburgh on a day trip, in that dress. Grin

Lisad1975 · 03/07/2016 07:30

New Look is good! Though tgeir heans are huge! I jept a few bits from dd pg so will get them down from loft soon . I have brought a couple of bits this pg but only in sale tbh
Verbaudet have nice bits so worth a look .I just brought two pairs of lounge/pyjama pants in sale .
I have a nice mat nightie from primark but they arent doing mat wear anymore I heard . Very annoying !
I brought vest tops in bigger size and still wear some to bed now!

Gardencentregroupie · 03/07/2016 07:32

Another vote for asos. They stock the new look stuff and some other brands as well as their own stuff.

indecisivedoctor · 03/07/2016 07:32

Seconding H&M. Some of its awful but I've had a few nice bits too.

In general though I find mat clothes a bit rubbish. I focus a bit more on accessorising and nice footwear..

Gardencentregroupie · 03/07/2016 07:45

During my first pregnancy it was just an endless parade of coral, Bretton stripes or hideous "hands off the bump" type slogans Angry I'm nearly sure I saw some nice maternity clothes in Mothercare recently.

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 03/07/2016 07:45

H&M and New Look (online) do ok stuff. I also look for non-maternity things like stretchy maxi dresses and vest tops in larger sizes

fruityb · 04/07/2016 13:33

I've used H and M and ASOS, as well as New Look. My maternity jeans were from Next but I'm far too hot to wear them now. I rarely wear jeans in warmer weather pregnant or no. Am saving them now for when baby is here and I'm waiting to go down!

I need to get out of the habit of sizing up though - I have bought tops and such from ASOS in a 14 as I didn't think my usual 12 would work, however they're far too big and have more than enough space in for the rest of my pregnancy so they've had to go back.

I'm living in leggings and some pre pregnancy dresses at the mo - Mantaray ones are very roomy. But now I've hit 33 weeks I don't think anything is going to make me look anything less than an articulated lorry! I'm at a wedding in a couple of weeks - I'll be 37 + 3 - and am dreading it!

NovemberInDailyFailLand · 04/07/2016 14:49

Size up from H and M. They are really tight.

I've found a lot of nice stuff on e-bay. It's usually in good condition as well.
