How long did it take you to get pregnant after ectopic?

Just wondered if people would mind sharing with me. I had an ectopic pregnancy in January and lost left tube. TTC again, on cycle 2 and AF is on its way. I know it's early days still but I can't help panicking that it's just not going to happen for me.

If you also had an ectopic, would you mind sharing how long it was until you were pregnant again?

Thank you Smile

Congratulations @smiggy27 that's great news. Fx for a straightforward pregnancy for you xxx

Thanks @sammyclaire22 it looks like we're at pretty much the same point as each other :)

I hope all goes well for you too. Stay in touch.

Hi all.... im 25 and had an ectopic pregnancy 3 years ago where I lost my right tube as a result... me and my partner are trying to conceive ever since with no luck... my period are normal every month and I dont suffer any pains or abnormalities... please share if you had a similar experience, and what do we do from here

Smiggy27 · 02/01/2018 15:38

Hi @Roux24 sorry to hear you're struggling. It's so frustrating!

Have you tried using any of the fertility lubricants (boots do one - www.boots.com/fertilecheck-fertility-gel-30ml-10204268 ) and also make sure you're not using any lubricants that can harm sperm, we made that error 😣.

I also did the ovulation tests to make sure I was hitting all the most fertile days in my cycle.

You've probably been there and done all of that, but if nothing else, do be assured you're feelings and frustrations are so valid and felt by us all going through it.

Keep going! It will happen! X

Roux24 · 02/01/2018 15:42

Thx smiggy27

We dont use any lubricants.... we do it naturally. Im trying to stay positive although its not easy after 3 years

Sammyclaire22 · 02/01/2018 16:22

Have you asked to be referred by your gp for tests? After a year of trying they can send you both for a check over to see if there is anything either that needs extra medical help or anything else that could be improved.
We used conceive + lube and I checked my ovulation and cm each month and tracked everything with ovia fertility to try and time when we dtd. I had just started tracking my temp too as i felt the more information i had about my cycles the better.
The nurse at epu for my recent scan confirmed what my surgeon said- that the fallopian tubes can waft about in the pelvis so your left tube can still pick up an egg from your right ovary as well so there is plenty of hope.
Good luck x

Roux24 · 02/01/2018 16:57

Thx sammyclaire22.
Me and hubby are planning to get us both checked out as soon as possible.

Trytrytry2018 · 07/01/2018 19:21

Thank you so much for this thread, I had an ectopic a year ago and starting to loose hope! Anyone got any tips to conceive? 😊

Sammyclaire22 · 07/01/2018 20:01

I would say tracking your cycle (I use ovia) and we also use conceive + lube. No idea if it worked or not but didn't harm!

Hi everyone, I found this thread and hope you might be able to give me some advice. I had an ectopic pregnancy in November last year (2017) after two years of trying. I had expectant management so didn’t have surgery or injection. Tonight I’ve just found out I’m pregnant again. But I’m having pains in the same place as my old ectopic... did anyone else have pain in their ectopic site but the baby was ok? I’m so stressed out.

Thanks very much in advance!

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 18/01/2018 09:09

Marriage I'm pretty sure I did, I can't completely remember though. I think the whole area just remains tender for a while and it's really not that long since you had ep. I would probably call your EPAU if possible though, just to discuss it then. Given your history they should take you seriously.

Wishing you lots of luck and congratulations!

Marriageoftrueminds · 18/01/2018 20:32

Thanks so much! Fingers crossed eh. I have an early scan at the EPAU on Monday, although I’m sure that would be too early to see anything as I will only be four weeks! But I guess they’re the experts! Thanks for your reassurance and good wishes x

Marriageoftrueminds · 20/01/2018 17:32

My blood test today was good - hCG is rising nicely. Doesn’t rule out an ectopic and I stil have the pain but only time will tell. To answer pp questions on tips for conceiving after ectopic: I was really shocked to fall again on my first cycle, as it took as two years to fall pregnant the first time (with the ectopic). It’s probaly just luck but we loosely followed the Sperm Meets Egg timing for BD and we also both gave up alcohol for January (I don’t drink much anyway but my husband usually drinks a moderate amount) and both took pregnacare supplements - they have a pack which is for men and women in conception. I also used clear blue ovulation predictor, the one with dual hormones. Good luck all!

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 20/01/2018 19:50

That's very positive - pleased for you.

MrsNiaCole · 15/06/2018 21:07

First I want to say that you ladies have gave me so much hope. From all of your success stories I feel I am ready to start trying again with a very positive outlook. Me and DH have been trying for 4 years and it has been very hard month after month with only BFN. I finally conceived early May but it was an EP and they removed my left tube on June 4th. I was told to wait for 2 cycles, but we just cant. I hope we dont hurt anything trying too soon.

Again, thanks for all the positivity on this post!

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 16/06/2018 05:50

Wishing you success nia! That must have been heartbreaking.

Iswallowtoothpaste · 16/06/2018 06:43

Not me but a close friend suffered an ectopic and had to have a tube removed. She was pregnant again in 4 months and now has a lovely little almost 3 YO.

SKydive11 · 07/11/2018 10:16

Hi Ladies,

I had an ectopic pregnancy removed on the 15th of October, my left tube was removed as it had ruptured .

I was told as soon as I had a negative pregnancy test I could then start trying again.

My husband arrived home from a holiday that I missed due to the op on he 28th of Oct and we started to try again pretty much right away.

Has anyone else done this? if so how long did it take for you to conceive? I've still not had a period following the op so hard to know when I will be ovulating etc but I am thinking some times its good not to know and when it happens it happens?

loveth · 08/01/2019 08:40

@ Punkybubba.....congrat madam, but my question is...dont u feel pains during the time of conceiving? i had my ectopic surgery on 25th October 2018 but none of my tube was affected, and am so eager to have a baby but am afraid.. do u mean i can start trying now? and hope is not through operation u gave birth..i need ur quick response please

PunkyBubba · 10/01/2019 17:02

Hi Loveth,

I'm not sure exactly what you mean about pains. After the operation that removed my right tube I waited until I felt physically ok.. myself again. I was advised to wait 3 months but I waited 2.. We're you treated with methotrexate? If so (and I'm a bit fuzzy now) I think you're advised to wait 6 months?

When I became pregnant 3 months after the ectopic I was terrified it was another ectopic.. I even felt similar (indigestion type) pains at 6-7 weeks and convinced myself it was happening again, but my baby was perfectly healthy and no further interventions were needed.

Hope that helps?

loveth · 12/01/2019 09:56

@ punkybubba yes thank u ma...my treatment was on surgery but none of my tube was affected..i feel like trying now but just scared..it was when i saw ur message, that i had a little bit calm

loveth · 24/01/2019 10:05

can someone pls help me out..i had ectopic surgery on 25 october 2018, i & my husband started trying this january. i started feelin some little pregnancy symptoms but when i tested through urine PT, it was negative..meanwhile i was having some signs of toilet infection which prompt me to go to chemist for drugs but i discovered that few days later after taking d drugs my period came but dis time wit some little little blood clots. Hope you don't mind me joining this thread. Sorry I haven't used anything like this before and usually a very private person but struggling lately trying to cope with whats happened over the last year.
Me and my partner have been together for 10 years this July. I am 28 and he is 34. We only started trying to conceive March 2018. My first pregnancy in April 2018 I didn't realise I was pregnant which soon ended in a miscarriage.
We found out after our holiday in may I was pregnant again. But I was suffering with stomach pain, no bleeding though. The drs advised I had a suspected molar pregnancy and had to have an opperation in June 2018 to have to pregnancy taken away as it was not viable. We was advised we could try again soon after.
We found out in July 2018 I was pregnant a 3rd time. Again I was suffering with stomach pain and feared the worse. My fear was right and I found out I was having an ectopic pregnancy which ended in an opperation in August to remove my left tube where the pregnancy was found.
We waited again as emotionally I wasnt ready. We started to try again in October 2018 as the drs advised we could. With no luck! 6 months later, still no luck. I'm worried I wont conceive now, as before we have been lucky to conceive each time we tried but since my ectopic we haven't been able to conceive.
Has anyone else been through something similar? Is there any hope?

BabyPending · 25/08/2019 16:46

@Tess90 so sorry to find yourself here but I wanted to reach out to find out if you have any update? I am sadly in the same position, 2 MC and third ectopic (had my left tube removed last week). I am completely and utterly crushed and desperately looking for success stories from people in our situation. I hope you have your rainbow on the way xx
