How long did it take you to get pregnant after ectopic?

Just wondered if people would mind sharing with me. I had an ectopic pregnancy in January and lost left tube. TTC again, on cycle 2 and AF is on its way. I know it's early days still but I can't help panicking that it's just not going to happen for me.

If you also had an ectopic, would you mind sharing how long it was until you were pregnant again?

Thank you Smile

After my second ectopic (which is when they removed the tube) I was pregnant again within 4 months. We didn't try the first cycle because I thought some healing time was in order.

Good luck.

It was 7 cycles for me. I've had 3 lovely boys since my tube was removed - fingers crossed it happens soon for you

InTheSandPit · 31/05/2016 17:14

We waited a year post tube removal -(and had an amazing group holiday that needed antimalarials that I'd have missed if still pregnant), then took 2 months. DS2 took a similar length of time.
Flowers hope you get the news you want soon

Thank you so much...those are all overwhelmingly positive!

I am lucky that I have a ds already, and got pg easily with him. But am finding the whole experience post ectopic really hard in various ways.

Had my first ectopic in July 2013, then second one in September 2015 (had taken all that time to get pregnant again...).
I'm pregnant at the moment and conceived in March at the first go after my laparoscopy (February). We had waited quite a while after the second ectopic and were under the care of a fertility specialist. I'm pretty sure I would have gotten pregnant earlier if we had tried earlier, but I simply needed time.
Didn't lose any of my tubes, though. Doctors thought that since one of them is already completely blocked, taking the other one out wouldn't be helpful. We did conceive naturally in the end. So far, everything seems to be going fine. Baby is very happily bouncing around and in the right place this time.

That's great mini, congratulations

Surgery to remove left tube 15th July 2015, BFP 2nd October 2015. The consultant also confirmed that I ovulated from my left ovary (the side I lost my tube from), baby is due in a couple of weeks.

Good luck!

Congrats laughing!

It's great hearing such positive experiences.

Ah yes, my post ectopic baby came from my tubeless side too!

PunkyBubba · 02/06/2016 23:06

My ectopic was on 10th October 2013, and I lost my right tube. I was advised not to try for another baby for 3 months, but we started trying after 2 months, and got the BFP 2nd cycle of trying. Our beautiful baby boy was born on 9th October 2014, so 1 day before the years anniversary of the ectopic.

Good luck.xx

I had an ectopic pregnancy exactly a year ago, we didn't try for another as they told me it may be hard to fall pregnant and that it could be another ectopic. In March this year we had unprotected sex once and I'm now 11 weeks pregnant with a very healthy baby!Smile I would say leave it a few months for your body to heal and then try again! Hope it all works out for you!

Eastend2015 · 04/06/2016 17:51

Had an EP in March 2014, no tube removal but advised not to try for 3 months so tried again from August, got BFP in January 2015, MMC in February, BFP in October and due in a few weeks too Grin

Eastend2015 · 04/06/2016 17:51

P.s good luck! Xx

HoggleHoggle · 05/06/2016 13:57

Thanks east and Beth! All great news.

I waited 2 cycles before TTC, now on cycle 2 of that. Fingers crossed for next month Smile

Sorry to hear you've been through this. We conceived healthy baby 2nd cycle after we started trying again!

HoggleHoggle · 09/06/2017 09:17

OP here, wanted to update the thread in case someone finds it having gone through their own ectopic pregnancy. I conceived 9 months after the ectopic, 7 months ttc. He was born a week ago and I can't believe how lucky we are.

So if anyone reads this having gone through a similar experience, please do take some hope!

I had my last EP October 2015 and my right Fallopian tube was removed..... I have tried for a baby for 4months....am scared will I really get pregnant.... Somebody advice me pls

Sammyclaire22 · 23/11/2017 08:21

Thankyou for this thread, it's given me some hope all isn't lost. Im 7dp surgery after my left tube ruptured at 6 weeks.

I have a few questions regarding the recovery- did anyone else get nerve changes? My right top of bum has been numb since the op. Also having very heavy bleeding the last 2 days Sad.
How did your consultant tell which side you successfully conceived from?
Also, am I mad for wanting to start trying again as soon as we can?

DiscombobulatedWomble · 24/11/2017 11:37

I had a left tube removed 17th Nov 2016 after it ruptured at 8 weeks.

Fell pregnant again very quickly, resulting in a due date of 19th November 2017.. still waiting for bean to make their arrival, but a very non eventful pregnancy so far - there is definitely hope!

I don't think you're mad for wanting to try again asap.. I think we started trying again after 1 "normal" period, although they advised waiting 3 months. I think it comes down to you & how you're healing, physically & mentally.

I had no nerve changes but definitely lots of heavy bleeding for a couple of weeks. If you're worried contact your doctor. We had a follow up appointment after the ectopic with a consultant where I went through any worries, but not sure if that's standard everywhere?

I was never told which side I successfully conceived from so can't help with that one I'm afraid.

Hope this all helps put your minds at rest, good luck ladies xx

Sammyclaire22 · 22/12/2017 11:04

Just to update anyone who come looking for the same answers I did, I'm now just over 4 weeks pregnant. I don't know how we managed it the very next month after taking a year ttc but I needed it! Having a glimmer of hope has helped me face christmas. I found out very early so the waiting for my early scan is very hard!

ambereeree · 22/12/2017 18:14

Congratulations OP. My gynecologist told me the remaining tube is able to move to pick up the egg so you can become pregnant from either side.

Smiggy27 · 23/12/2017 08:34

So good to read all these positive experiences. Thanks for sharing.

I'm just under 5wks and I'm noticing every twinge etc which is really stressing me out tbh. I had an ep nearly 7yrs ago and I wasn't trying to get pregnant at the time so until it was painful etc I don't remember how I was feeling in the lead up. I have woken up this morning with bad cramps on my left side which is where it happened last time :( I'm hoping it's just wind! Anyone have experiences like this? Also has anyone had a scan as earlier as 5weeks? I'm thinking of going private to hopefully but my mind at rest.

NooNooHead1981 · 23/12/2017 12:27

I had an ectopic and my right tube removed inMarch this year, and am now very happily 14w2d pregnant with DC2.

So roughly about 6 months I would say from having my ectopic to conception. Although I always say we weren't trying, we weren't exactly being careful either, so I guess that means we were...

Good luck! Flowers

Sammyclaire22 · 25/12/2017 21:46

I've got 2 scans booked- the 27th and 28th. The 27th is private which we booked as I ruptured on 6 weeks and I was scared the nhs would refuse to scan earlier.
I will be exactly 5 weeks on the 27th so they warned me they may not see anything and there won't be a heart beat yet but they normally offer to scan from 5 +2. For me I also wanted to be sure I could see it, it upsets me that I never got to see my baby last time.

I have had some sharp twinges now and then on the right (I have no left tube but the right was pretty bruised after they examined it during the op) but it's gone off quickly and the ovia app says it's normal unless it persists. I'm also pretty bunged up from all the iron tablets but the twinges have got better since I started taking lactulose!

Sammyclaire22 · 27/12/2017 15:47

Exactly 5 weeks today and my little sprout is where it should be :) Only saw the gestational sac and yolk sac but that's normal for this early. Way to go right ovary!! (She could tell on the ovary from the follicle that it had produced the egg this time)

Fingers crossed for anyone else who has been through this heartache xxx
