I've never had anything like this. I can't poop properly. I have needed to go since 7am, the poop is so low I can see if if I bend over (I'm so sorry I know) but it won't come out. I've tried drinking water and orange juice and eating veg and fruit but I'm in agony. The pressure between my anus and vagina is so bad I havnt even be able to get dressed today. What can I do/take I'm in agony

(27 weeks of btw)

Glycerine suppositories. Safe in pregnancy.

Watto1 · 01/05/2016 15:20

You poor thing! Drink a cup of strong coffee and go for a brisk walk. Exercise can get things going. Good luck!

seven201 · 01/05/2016 15:20

Have you drunk hot water? How long have you spent sat on the loo (in one sitting)? I found that if I take a book and sit there for sometimes an hour then it works. I'm 32 weeks and spent between 3am and 4am on the loo last night. It's not fun!

Peppaismyhomegirl · 01/05/2016 15:21

Thank you, I'll ask DH to get them when he's home, anything in the house I'm likely to have that can help?!

Are you putting your feet up on a step whilst on the loo? The angle really helps X

Watto1 · 01/05/2016 15:22

Sorry, just seen you are still in your pjs! Try a warm bath.

Peppaismyhomegirl · 01/05/2016 15:22

Thanks both ill try now. I've never had this in any of my other pregnancies I was concerned initially that I might be early labour it's so bad! Not fun at all. Good to know it's normal yho.

I used to push the outside of the back of my bottom gently and squeeze it out.

Also loads and loads of water and any germaloid cream (haemorrhoid cream with anesthetic in it) to help with the pain.

Then get yourself drinking more water and fibre. Are you on iron tablets? If so, switch to spatone as much much gentler!

thebabydances · 01/05/2016 15:23

When you're sat on the toilet put your feet on a step or a few books so you're body position is more like squatting than sitting. I used to find sitting in the bath would help. Straight out of bath into the toilet while you're still warm or looking like a lobster if you're anything like me

Hawkmoth · 01/05/2016 15:23

Put your feet on a step so your knees are higher than your bum. After being in the same predicament as you for DC3, this last time I used the toddler step for every BM and things were better.

MaudGonneMad · 01/05/2016 15:24

Yes, bring a chair or something into the bathroom and sit with your knees above your hips if possible. Just sit there, for ages if needs be.

Tiggywinkler · 01/05/2016 15:24

If you VERY gently insert your thumb into your fanjo, can you gently massage it a bit to help it out?

I can't believe I just typed that, but it works.

Littleallovertheshop · 01/05/2016 15:25

Too late now but can you take lactulose in pregnancy?

A warm bath, some squats (I know I know but it used to work for me post op) and er a book and patience? Try putting a stool (no pun intended) under your feet too to raise your legs (I think there is a theory that it's a better pooing position).

Good luck, you poor thing!

Littleallovertheshop · 01/05/2016 15:26

Xpost!

RaeSkywalker · 01/05/2016 15:27

Oh I feel for you- this happened to me last week. I was in agony. Managed to pass it eventually after a bath which I think might have, erm, softened things. I also tried rocking my hips from side to side whilst standing.

If it happens again I think I'll call 111 for advice. If it's impacted you might have to have it removed manually by a doctor so maybe call them now to see what they think? If you've been trying to pas it since early this morning they might be able to help.

My GP has prescribed me sodium picosulfate liquid and glycerin suppositories to hopefully stop me getting to that stage again. I'm also making a big effort to eat more fibre, which is challenging as I also have HG. Weetabix seems to be helping.

Hope you manage to get things moving soon Flowers

Peppaismyhomegirl · 01/05/2016 15:28

Hahah! Thank you all so much! There is no dignity left right now I will do anything.
I'm drinking buckets of water daily after today!!
And also Goodness me I need to get a grip on my pain tolerance before D day!!

Can you put newspaper on the toilet floor and squat onto that? It's a more natural pooing position. Or try a poo in the bath.

Otherwise glycerin suppositories are ace. They don't hurt when you put them in and get things moving really quickly. Good luck. x

Peppaismyhomegirl · 01/05/2016 15:39

Was in a hot bath when I wrote this, kettle is in been rocking and squating and if all else fails I'll drag myself and the kids in our pjs to tesco (the shame!!) and pick some up ASAP. God bless them they have squash and cake and paw patrol and left to fend for themselves whilst i sorr this!

JeopardyMouse · 01/05/2016 15:41

It's horrible and can be really scary too. Get the suppositories - PJs are fine Smile

DailyFailAreABunchOfCunts · 01/05/2016 15:43

Ow - sounds painful. Drink a cup of strong coffee and sit on the loo with a book or your phone and with your feet up on a couple of big books. Try and relax and hopefully things will start to move.

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 01/05/2016 15:46

Agree to sit on loo with feet on stool and read book, phone etc

Little pushes, no long deep ones until it is starting to crown lol. Rock back and fore at same time.

I've been there. Happened one week post section. Horrendous.

Peppaismyhomegirl · 01/05/2016 16:01

Oh my goodness you wonderful wonderful women! Warm bath, Hot, sweet coffee and legs above my hips on the toilet and it was instantly moved. Thank you all so much who knew something that simple could cause such relief. Thank you! From me anyway, I'm removing my boys from the tv and making them interact with other humans now I feel better! They would rather me still be toilet bound Grin
Thank you all
