Hi everyone! waves Grin
So so sorry I've not been in touch, I've been in and out of hospital with suspected gallbladder disease (gallstones) had a few stays in hosp here and there due to severe pain...but after my last abdominal ultrasound they've concluded it's not gallstones (even though on a previous bedside scan at a&e they saw 'something' in the gallbladder) They are now saying it's costochondritis, which is basically inflammation of the cartilage in the rib cage, mine pop and click in and out of place...which is uncomfortable, but the main pain feels like a constant unbearable ache, almost like they are going to burst apart! Apparently its very common during pregnancy, but the severity differs from person to person. They think I've got it so bad due to the same reason my spd is so bad...basically as I've been pg for over a year (due to two mc's and this pregnancy) all the hormone relaxin that's been flying round my body is working a little too well, and my body has had enough of being pg! What a palarva! This little boy is going to have a smacked bottom when he finally gets here! joking obviously
If it gets to the point im in a&e again I'll have to have corticosteroid injections into the ribs Sad
I hate needles...but have definitely had my fair share of them these past couple of weeks. Saw our little Samuel on a scan again, my goodness he's grown! I think I'm going to be giving birth to an elephant! Blush

Had a huge gush this morning, thought I had wrt myself, but...tmi...upon wiping, it was mucus! May have been my mucus plug, had a cervical exam on Monday whilst in hospital as my bh are getting very frequent and strong, so that may have upset the plug? No painful contractions so trying not to read too much into it? No blood in it, just mucus, so may have been only part of it...lost some weird stuff prior to exam though too, like tacky mucus, so perhaps my plug is coming out in bits and bobs?

Baby already in head down position, so wouldn't be surprised if he did decide to come early...im 30 weeks on Saturday so I'm hoping he'll hang on in there for another 7 weeks!

Well...PHEW! sorry for the looong post, but haven't been here in so long! I hope everyone is getting on ok with their pregnancies? Again, sorry I've not been around, and thankyou to all who have been asking after me!

4d scan on Sunday...super excited Smile will post pics! Xxx

LynseyH5 · 25/02/2016 22:11

Thank you keys was definitely shocked to finally hear the words "there's a baby with a heartbeat"!!! But incredibly happy. Yes i am expecting to play catch up but right now all I keep hearing is "healthy heartbeat". That's enough for me right now!

I don't envy you with the needles, I'm a super wimp. Yes take your mum and let her sort them out lol, seriously tho, hope all goes to plan. Flowers

paws wow you've had a rough old time of it, I hope you feel better really soon. Little fella is letting you know he's gonna cause you some mayhem Smile so jealous your going for a 4d scan, enjoy every moment. Cannot wait to see pictures!!

SeriousStuff · 25/02/2016 23:25

Hey all - having had nausea non stop since Monday morning, for the last hour and a half, nothing. Cue major panic. I know it's irrational, which is why i came on here just to offload! No need to respond, just comforted knowing we're all in the same boat x

Northernlight22 · 26/02/2016 08:01

Seriousstuff - my nausea has calmed right down at the mo, tends to flare up on an evening but other than that it's not too bad.

Sophia1984 · 26/02/2016 09:03

Hi Serious My awful nausea disappeared for about 48 hours over Christmas but came back. Enjoy your time without it :-)

Bowserlovesmojitos · 26/02/2016 09:10

paws Glad you are doing ok, even with everything going on.
I hope your little boy stays put a bit longer for you and all goes well with your scan on Sunday Flowers

Serious I've not had loads of symptoms this time round - mainly tiredness, a bit of nausea and vaguely sore boobs, so now at 10 weeks when those disappear it is a worrying time but it always comes back!
I think I read somewhere it's something to do with the way the hormones increase on a 2 or 3 day cycle so you feel crap with the increase, then it adjusts so you feel ok then increases again so you're back to feeling rubbish - not sure how true this is but it makes sense to me and thus is rather reassuring on those more symptom-less days!

dobbythedoggy · 26/02/2016 11:11

paws sorry to hear you're still having a tough time health wise. Really hope you're dh is being more supportive than he has previously. I'm pretty certain muscus plugs regenirate, so no need to panic about loosing it. The midwife I saw at my 36 week appointment said it's not considered a sign of labour potentially starting soon unless very pink or blood streaked as it's a sign the cervix is softening and dilating. 4d scan sounds very exciting, when I had a scan at 35 weeks the consultant did a cobination of 2d and 4d which was very sureal.

serrious I remember feeling very paniced when my hidious nausea died down despite knowing it was from the fact I'd begged the dr to give me something to help. It's horriable to feel that way but just as terriable for it to stop!

keys hope it all goes smoothly on tuesday and there are no more delays. The only time anyone can easily take my blood is when I'm pregnant; the rest of the time it's a long and painful process.

I'm now counting DAYS until due date! After all the worry in the early days and weeks it's strange to be so close. Time feels like it's crawling by and I feel like I've been pregnant forever, but it's nothing like the emotional rollercoster of the first and second trimester.

Turi1983 · 26/02/2016 14:07

keys27 I ordered a ‘baby on board’ badge! Just have to remember to remove it before I get in the office…! SO annoying about your cancelled appointment.

jaybeanie I found the gingernuts in Holland & Barratt.

bowserlovesmojitos ‘you lose your innocence and naiveté in pregnancy’ – yes, this definitely resonates with me. Like others have said, it has also taken the joy out of pregnancy. After months of desperately trying to conceive, I now feel convinced that something is going to go wrong.

Lilliana I was super chilled in my first pregnancy too. I felt my mmc was almost a ‘punishment’ for being so relaxed/unaware of the risks. I am so sorry about you and your two friends – so sad.

seriousstuff welcome and huge congratulations on the BFP. And to fall pregnant again so soon. I’m not surprised you’ve been emotional. I have had on/off nausea too and every time it goes I completely freak out.

northernlight22 despite your mixed news, I am so pleased you got to see a heartbeat. I will keep everything crossed regarding the second twin x

lynseyH5 AMAZING news – I have a big smile on my face!

sundayraspberry FANTASTIC news – hurrah!

allmychildrenhavepaws you poor thing – that sounds horrid. Keeping everything crossed that baby stays put for now.

dobbythedoggy when is your actual due date?

I’ve had a tough week… DH has been abroad on a business trip and I’ve been so sick that I had Tuesday off work. Unfortunately, I’m only sick when I have an empty tummy and I pulled a muscle in my neck with all the retching so can only turn my head in one direction – what a sorry sight! When I get respite from nausea, I feel like it’s all over, I’m just so anxious. I’ve also had horrible back ache and sore hips. All seems a bit early for sore joints – hope it’s not a sign of what’s to come!

I've also got a horrible cold with brown/green mucus (sorry TMI) which is odd as I only had a cold 4 weeks ago. I Googled and apparently your immune system is suppressed when you’re pregnant so your body doesn’t reject the baby.

Had blood tests last week to test my thyroid function and my platelets because my resting heart rate has increased from 60 to over 90 (!) and I've had some nose bleeds. All tests came back normal.

I’m having a private scan at 4pm this afternoon at 8 weeks 4 days, two weeks after seeing a heartbeat at my NHS reassurance scan. Every time I think about it, my heart skips a beat.

dobbythedoggy · 26/02/2016 15:57

turi I'm due 2nd March, so Wednesday. Feels so close yet so far away, today certainly dragging... If I don't go into labour naturally, I've got an appointment to see my consultant next friday, for him to disscuss a potential induction, not something I plan to go for, I'll be asking to be booked in for a repeat elective c-section.

Hope your scan gives you a bit more reassurance. I had scans at epu at 6-7 weeks and 8-9 after spotting, they won't date until actual dating scan locally; it's amazing how much they grow and start to become more recognisable.

Sorry to hear you've been struggling with sickness. It's not pleasent if you have and it goes away suddenly! I think I found aching worst in the first 12 or so weeks and only really been bothering me again in the last few weeks so it doesn't mean you'll be like it all the way through. Vommiting at full term is certainly an intresting experience, dd was hear by this point, so never expereinced it despite nausea returning both times.

Lilliana · 26/02/2016 17:13

Great to see so much good news on this thread Smile

Welcome back paws look after yourself.

keys I'm like a stone when it comes to getting blood too and after some horrible experiences you have all my sympathy. Hope all goes well.

I can't believe some are so near to their due date!! Babies will be here soon Grin

Been to a singing festival with 300 primary kids today so absolutely shattered but it was an amazing experience for them. I just had to sneakily snack throughout to stave off the nausea!!

Bowserlovesmojitos · 26/02/2016 19:29

Turi This is first baby for me so my fears are all compounded that maybe I can't do this - I have no reassurance with previous babies Sad
Positive news though - had to go to the hospital for another appointment and met with a previous obstretician who had given me the scan/bad news last time and she was so so kind and gave me a quick (and not supposed to have been done!) scan to check on lo and heartbeat. Still there pumping away - gave her a huge hug and thanked her so much, i'm not sure she realised how much it meant to know things were still ok!

Turi1983 · 27/02/2016 05:07

dobbythedog wow - not long at all for you! How are you feeling?

bowserlovesmojitos I feel your pain and anxiety - this will be my first baby too. Yey for lovely obstreticians - having that scan must have made your day!

I've been up since 3am - felt sick, 'needed' marmite and now too wired to get back to sleep. Our scan was amazing yesterday. I don't think I'm carrying a baby but what resembles a little teddy bear! Heart beat strong and CRL 2.3cm so probably 9 weeks rather than 8 weeks 4 - I have a 25 day cycle and ovulate on or around day 12 so that was no surprise.

I read on the miscarriage association website that the chances of the pregnancy progressing normally after seeing a heartbeat at 8 weeks goes up to 98%. Our sonographer was brilliant yesterday and whilst she listened to my concerns and sympathised, she said that she likes to remind people that pregnancies continuing to term are the norm, not the exception.

I inherited some maternity clothes from my sister - took a photo and sent it to my Mum and Sister who both commented on my tummy ShockWink. Anyone else getting more rounded around the middle?

Katy4111 · 27/02/2016 07:16

Worried sick! Well not sick that's the problem. I've had nausea constantly and some sickness for the past couple of weeks and now since yesterday nothing! I've got a really bad feeling and can't stop worrying. Anybody got any advice that might ease my mind? :(

obsessedlex · 27/02/2016 08:03

katy I've heard that hormones rise every 2-3 days so that why symptoms come and go, I've certainly had 3 days of feeling pants and feel a bit better today why does worry me but I just try to tell myself to keep calm and that our bodies are not robots we are all different and every pregnancy is different. Big hug, and try to have faith in your body xxxx

obsessedlex · 27/02/2016 08:05

LynseyH5 · 27/02/2016 08:06

How far gone are you katy? Could you have just reached the stage where sickness gets better? Have you booked in with midwife yet? If you're stressing that much, it might be worth giving her a call?

sundayraspberry · 27/02/2016 08:18

Hi all, hope everyone is well today

Katy if you read up thread I think bowser mention about symptoms fluctuating when your body gets used to the level of hormones, I think we've all had the same worry and doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong.

paws you poor thing, sounds very painful Flowers. Hope Samuel stays put for a few more weeks at least, have you packed a bag yet in case? Enjoy your 4d scan, you deserve it! I have to admit I find them a little scary to look at Blush.

Good luck dobby I hope things start off naturally for you. Nearly there!

Congratulations on seeing your little teddy bear turi! Do you think you'll find out the sex at your next scan?

I'm looking forward to visiting some relatives today as they are giving us a cot and I can't wait to see it. Also getting fed which is a bonus! We decided not to find out baby's sex at our scan which is lucky because it had its legs crossed most of the time! The sonographer did refer to baby as 'she' a few times but I'm not reading too much into that as i think a lot of midwives etc feel uncomfortable calling babies 'it'. I'm convinced I'm having a boy anyway.

Anyone in 2nd or 3rd trimester still not completely believing they are having an actual baby? Not sure if I might feel different once I start feeling movements?!

Backhometothenorth · 27/02/2016 09:13

Hi everyone!
Katy I had the same worries as you when sickness seemed to vanish- even booked a private scan at ten weeks (time of previous 2 mc's) as I was loosing my marbles. Anyway everything was fine with little one and the dreaded sickness soon started up again!

Just to check in with a bit more good news, 12 week scan landmark reached yesterday. So happy to report all is well with the wriggly little thing!! So amazed and full of disbelief- hope springs eternal! Xxx

Eastend2015 · 27/02/2016 09:15

Hi all just checking in. I'd definitely echo what PPs have said about symptoms fluctuating, every pregnancy being different and continuing pregnancies being the norm not the exception. Keep hanging in there little beans! The miscarriage association stats also helped me stand sane, I must have re-read that 98% figure several times a day on the run up to the 20 week scan. I found distraction, exercise and a very supportive DH, friends and family really helped. I really turned a corner at the 20 week scan, now I am coming up to 24 weeks I get lots movement and it's just so magical I could lie with my hand on my bump all day Grin I wish you all the same joy.

Eastend2015 · 27/02/2016 09:20

Sorry I meant the 98% figure kept me sane on the run up to the 12 week scan!

Lucinda15 · 27/02/2016 14:25

Lots of lovely positive comments and scan news on here, that's fab Flowers

I am afraid I'm struggling to feel positive today. I am 6+4 and really have very few symptoms. Not much other than lack of period and BFP to indicate I'm pregnant - I know I shouldn't complain but I am wondering what's going on in there! If anything Sad I am feeling a bit more tired than usual but it's not major.

I'm just losing the battle today. Tomorrow I will probably have a spring in my step and believe everything will be fine....this is such a rollercoaster!

LynseyH5 · 27/02/2016 15:30

Lucinda that's exactly the same as me, no real symptoms but I had my scan this wk and all was ok. Stay strong ☺

Lilliana · 27/02/2016 16:40

Symptoms didn't really kick in for me until 7 weeks so don't panic there's still plenty of time for throwing up!!

LillianFullStop · 27/02/2016 18:00

Just checking in to say I've booked a scan for Monday so I can ease my worries. Been spotting since Thursday but not very much and only in the evenings - not sure if that means anything. Feeling dizzy, always thirsty and super tired and sleepy - I feel like I'm jetlagged!

7 weeks now and have self referred to my hospital so now just waiting on my appointment (they think it will be for either for 8 or 9 weeks)

Hope everyone is doing well - paws sorry you're having a rough time.

LynseyH5 · 27/02/2016 20:52

Ladies, of all the labours and pregnancies we've spoken about, who knew I'd be playing midwife today! To my cat!! 4 kittens later, mummy and babies doing well! Just thought I'd share with hope it'd give you a smile!
