I did Lex at 8 weeks but after a huge bleed so I was still terrified something would go wrong before 12. I am determined now to relax and enjoy this pregnancy as it will prob be my only one ( DP has 2 DC already and we have no more room)

JayBeanie · 14/03/2016 15:10

And yay for making your scan sooner in about 1 minute :-)

GoulashSoup · 14/03/2016 16:02

Congratulations eastend and Jay on the healthy scans! Must be a huge relief for you both.

Welcome Maud, I've only had HCG levels done once on the one I MC. I think high is generally a good sign with regard to MC unless they are worried about molar. More likely to either be a bit ahead of where you think you are on perhaps twins. I think they are also intersted in the proportion increase over 24hrs rather than actual levels.

I'm in a grump because I have booked my booking in appointment with the midwife and the soonest appointment they had was the 12th April by which time I will be 9+5. My biggest worry is that this won't leave enough time to get my scan booked in time for the nuchal fold reading which needs to be done by 13+6. It is making me think that rather than having a private early scan at 9 weeks we should save our money incase we need to have a private 12 week one.

Hope you are all enjoying the sun.

GoulashSoup · 14/03/2016 16:10

Sorry that should be 48 hrs. They generally looking for a doubling over 48 hrs which yours is doing nicely.

Backhometothenorth · 14/03/2016 16:28

Hi goulash. Think you should be ok- I had my booking appt at 9 weeks and they had the scan booked in for 12 weeks already- I got the appointment time there and then but know others have received by post. Maybe just double check the process in your area to put your mind at rest?

nervousshockedexcited · 14/03/2016 16:43

Congratulations on everyone's scans, it must be a nerve wracking experience. A friend has recently been for a scan and I was so taken aback that she didn't even worry or have a moment of anxiety. It must be nice to feel only glee at going.

Keys Glad you've been feeling the flutters, I hope everything went well with the scan and you were reassured. It's really helpful and relieving to meet people who feel the same way and understand rather then the excited/happy/not-anxious way.

I had my first congratulations today from the doctors and I felt nothing, except to stammer out 'uh thanks?' I also had my first unsolicited surprisingly offered advice when I picked up some seven seas pregnancy vitamins earlier, from someone very lovely and chatty on the counter who asked if this was my first pregnancy. Which also had me stammering! In the end I managed 'hopefully the first successful one'. Which wasn't ideal but I am still shocked and I wasn't expected sudden advice, I just wanted to buy and run.

Eastend2015 · 14/03/2016 16:52

I wouldn't worry too much about the booking appointment. As we had two early scans with the EPU they referred us directly to the "regular" clinic for the 12 week scan and I saw the midwife the following week. Thank goodness, it all feels such a long time ago now. They were running 90 mins behind with the 12 week scans this morning and there were many nervous ladies in the waiting room Confused so glad we are passed that horrible stage and I'm thinking of all you ladies on the first trimester fretting bench!

GoulashSoup · 14/03/2016 17:39

Thanks Back and Eastend, unfortunately here you don't go on the system until your booking appt. I know that the scanning unit is very busy and I have had two friends who have had their '12' week scans after 14 weeks and couldn't have the nuchal fold reading done. I will be pushy though. Fingers crossed.

GoulashSoup · 14/03/2016 17:44

How did you get on today keys? I have been thinking of you.

keys27 · 14/03/2016 17:47

Hi guys.

Welcome maud congratulations on your pregnancy.

east jay congratulations on your scans fantastic news im so pleased for you.

Unfortunately mine didnt go as well as I hoped. Baby is fine but my stitch is opening meaning my cervix is opening :( on bed rest. I wont make it to term but im only 17 weeks and having contractions already. I am on steroids and apart from them and bed rest there is nothing they can do. I am praying I will make it to 30 weeks but its opening already. I am extremely scared cant stop crying either. They offered me hospital bed rest but I have to be around my children otherwise I will end up in depression. Heres hoping can keep baby in for another 13 weeks.

Sorry to put a downer on such a positive thread today the main thing is baby is absolutly fine and strong heartbeat.

Oh, keys27 I am so sorry to hear that. That must have been such a shock. I hope you have someone to look after you at home?
It'll be a hard road ahead but don't lose hope Flowers

JayBeanie · 14/03/2016 18:05

Keys you can do this, you just need to do everything they say and make sure you get that bed rest. Be strong, we're all thinking of you. Thanks

obsessedlex · 14/03/2016 18:18

Oh keys that must be so frightening - sending you a massive hug - and as jay says all you can do is take their advice word for word.
I guess you'll be needing some box set recommendations- hope you are signed up to Netflix? Xx

GoulashSoup · 14/03/2016 18:31

Oh keys that sounds super worrying. I have everything crossed for you. Cotton wool treatment for you. And box sets, books, magazines, colouring, anything to keep you still and take your mind off it.

Eastend2015 · 14/03/2016 18:34

Keys just echoing what others have said. Take care of yourself and everything crossed for you! Cake

Backhometothenorth · 14/03/2016 18:47

Sending lots of hugs keys ThanksThanks

keys27 · 14/03/2016 18:53

Thanks for lovely support guys. Sitting here with really strong pains still just praying they do one soon with the steroids. My husband is with me he is sorting the girls out and doing the kitchen etc. Im just not the kinda person who wants to sit still. And im defo not a hospital person I avoid it like the plague. Got my mum over in the morning to do school run just feel so helpless :(. Ive left a voice mail with my midwife hopefully they can make regular visits if need be. Your right jay I can do this I will keep this little one in for at least another 13 weeks. Thanks again guys the support means so much xxxx

So sorry to hear that keys but you are a tough cookie and you will get through this. I don't know where in the country you are, but if there is anything I can do to help, please let me know. It would be brilliant to make it to 30 weeks, but even if you need to give birth before then, there is so much they can do for preemies. It's wonderful that baby is healthy in there. You're in my thoughts and I'm sending you strength and positivity xx

Northernlight22 · 14/03/2016 21:38

Oh keys how worrying for you. Keep positive and strong, and try to take it easy x

sundayraspberry · 14/03/2016 22:05

Am willing your cervix to behave it's self keys, here's hoping bed rest does the trick Flowers. Glad DH is doing his bit for you too x

Hi to Maud and nervous and any other newbies too. It honestly doesn't seem that long since I was introducing myself on this thread. 22 weeks today and getting fat, starting to realise I'm pregnant now Confused

Congratulations on the scan jay, and eastend cute picture of the face, can't remember if you found out what sex it is or not?

Eastend2015 · 14/03/2016 22:46

Thanks Sunday, no we don't know Grin

Turi1983 · 15/03/2016 12:30

LynseyH5 Oh god, I’m so sorry. I’m thinking of you x

obsessedlex I feel for you – the sickness is so awful isn’t it. The only way I’ve coped is by eating all the time. Not good for managing weight gain though. I’ve had cramps on and off too. And my symptoms have come and gone - know how worrying it is.

bowserlovesmojitos congratulations!

economymode and maudgonemad I’m sorry about your miscarriages. It hit me very hard too. Congratulations on your BFPs. The ladies on here are a great support during this anxious time.

keys27 Oh keys, how terrifying. I’m thinking of you x

nervousshockedexcited I’m not surprised you’re feeling this rollercoaster of emotions. Lucky you being able to keep so active – I miss exercise but when I bend down to load the dishwasher or put on my shoes I belch and threaten to lose my lunch!

allmychildrenhavepaws wowee, that is a big baby. I can understand your nerves.

I had my second private scan on Friday and measured 11 weeks 1 day (according to date of LMP I should have been 10 weeks 4 days but have a short cycle). All looking ok and so am trying to think positively. According to the miscarriage association website, the chances of the pregnancy going ahead are now 99.4%.

Still feeling nauseous a lot but haven’t been sick as much so have braved it into work today – I’ve been working from home for a week and had cabin fever.

My dating scan is on Sat 26 Mar when I’ll be 13 weeks 2 days.

Have any of you thought about when you’ll share your news? We’ve told our close family and closest friends but not our wider circle of friends/wider family.

economymode · 15/03/2016 13:29

Oh lordy, keys, sending many many positive vibes. Take all the help you can get and remember that you are doing all you can and you have everyone on your side.

I am just wishing time away here. I overhead another mum being congratulated on her pregnancy at preschool drop off this morning. I sound like such a horrible person, but I find it so hard to hear other people's good news. I can't believe myself, sometimes.

I saw my GP yesterday who has requested an early scan for me, but no idea if I will get one....seeing the midwife for a booking in appointment at 8 weeks, rather than the usual 10. They all know I'm a little bit crazy and are incredibly supportive.

Hoping the next couple of months will fly by. At least we have Easter hols so I'll have my (almost) year old and 3 year old at home to keep my mind off things. And we're in the process of selling our house. I know I should be avoiding stress, but I need projects to keep my mind busy!

Take care everyone.

Allmychildrenhavepaws · 15/03/2016 13:56

Oh keys so sorry to hear of your worries...do try and rest as much you can to try and get gravity on your side! Glad dh is stepping up...thinking of you xxx Flowers

Congrats on scans east & jay x Smile

Had growth scan, he's weighing in at 5lbs at 32 weeks! Confused they said they would do a membrane sweep at 38 weeks if he hasn't arrived by then!

Threefaries · 15/03/2016 14:15

Hi Key, I'm genuinely sorry to read your update. How terrifyingly stressful for you. Please rest up and let others run around after you. Yay to your husband and mum helping out. I echo what others have said and keep focusing on counting down the weeks, days.

Please don't feel bad about your post, keep posting away. We are all here to share worries, problems, hope, joy and all. Sending you positive best wishes and Cake Flowers Chocolate xxx
