Just curious!! DD was quite little at 6lbs 3oz born at 40+4 and after a very smooth labour, it all went pear shaped at the end for various reasons! I know there's no exact science to this but I've got a gut feeling this baby is going to be much bigger and the thought terrifies me, I'm quite petrified about what this labour will be like anyway!

I know they say 2nd babies are normally bigger! Was this true in your case ladies?x

DS 5lb 13oz 40+0, 12 hr labour

DD 7lb 13oz 38+2, 45 min labour

PutDownThatLaptop · 24/01/2016 22:48

All of mine were born at 40 weeks plus 12 to 14 days.

DS1 was 8lbs
DS2 was 8lbs 7oz
DD was 6lb 15oz

LeotardoDaVinci · 24/01/2016 22:49

Dc#1 7lb 4oz born at 39+3

DC#2 8lb 3oz born at 37 weeks

I stopped trying to prove that theory at that point

Sunshine511 · 24/01/2016 22:55

Thank you so much to you all for your replies! Has certainly put my mind at rest! To the ladies that had a 45 min labour 2nd time round, I hope this doesn't happen as I live 45 mins from the hospital and would have DC1 to drop off with a friend first Shock nice to hear that the bigger babies are often the easier labours though x

My second labour was 1hour start to finish, was very intense and quite a shock.

Have you considered a home birth?

IWannaBeAPopstar · 24/01/2016 22:59

Dd1 = 8lbs 3oz
Ds1 = 10lbs 3oz
Dd2 = 10lbs 1.5oz
Dd3 = 9lbs 13oz
Dd4 = 9lbs 9oz

I make 'em big.

ErgonomicallyUnsound · 24/01/2016 23:01

DS 8 lbs - 36 hr labour
DD 7 lbs 7 oz - less than an hour from first contraction

Crossed my legs all the way to hospital had her within 4 mins of arriving.

Ds1 7 13 at 40+1
Ds2 9 12 at 40+11. Much quicker and easier labour though.

Sunshine511 · 24/01/2016 23:10

Oh, i really didn't expect there to be so many people having such quick labour! I was about 18 hours from my 1st contraction with DD1 so I just told myself I'd have enough time! Now I'm slightly concerned! I think home births are a great thing but after everything going downhill so quickly with my labour with DD1, I just think I'd be too worried about the outcome of the same happened again x

DC1 8lbs
DC2 11lbs 4oz
DC3 9lbs 15oz

The easiest and quickest labour was with DC2

FattyNinjaOwl · 24/01/2016 23:18

sunshine my first labour was 38 hours.
Second, 5 hours. Third 3 hours. So much quicker! I still went to hospital though. After the complications I had with DS1 I wanted to be there. I'm sure it will be OK. How far away is the hospital? Unless it's miles and miles then I think you will be fine.

weegiemum · 24/01/2016 23:21

DD1 9lb12oz, 37 hour labour, ventouse (39+3)

DS 9lb3oz, 10 hour labour, normal delivery (38+4)

DD2 7lb13oz, 12 hour induced labour, normal delivery (36+6)

So mine got smaller and earlier! (but last 2 much easier delivery than dd1)

Sunshine511 · 24/01/2016 23:25

NinjaOwl it's 20 miles! Bendy back roads make it 40 minutes if you put your foot down on a quiet day, an hour (or possibly more) at peak times Confused I just plan on going in early doors! I was 8cm when I went in with DD (we lived in a different area so was only 10 mins to the hospital) but I'll be hoping to be in much earlier than that this time round.x

Yes definitely get there early then!

FusionChefGeoff · 24/01/2016 23:27

Much bigger (6lb 7 vs 9lb 11) but much easier labour. There's something to be said for gravity!!

FattyNinjaOwl · 24/01/2016 23:29

Don't do what I did with the youngest, and think you just need a big poo when in reality you are in labour Grin I was 7 cm when I got to hospital and it was only just getting painful. It didn't dawn on me at first as I was overdue and not expecting anything to happen. It was only when my mum turned up and told me to get to hospital I realised I was in labour.

ExasperatedAlmostAlways · 24/01/2016 23:30

Dd1, four weeks early -6lbs
Dd2, Ten days early - 8lbs
Ds1, two days early - 9lbs 9.5 (he was so long and just turned three and age four clothes fit perfectly, DH is 6foot 2 and I'm 5"9.5 they are all tall and were long at birth.

Mrsw28 · 24/01/2016 23:31

Second was 15ozs heavier than first.

DS 7lb 4oz
DD 8lb 3oz

ExasperatedAlmostAlways · 24/01/2016 23:31

My second was by far the best and easiest labour.

insan1tyscartching · 24/01/2016 23:32

Ds1 was 7lb born at 37 weeks and ds2 was 7lb 8oz born the day afer his due date.

boptanana · 24/01/2016 23:34

Dd1. 8lb 7. 10 days late
Dd2 7lb10. 1 day early.

Dd2 arrived 5 minutes after arriving at hospital (while dp was parking so he missed it.) Dd1 took much longer!!

Schwabischeweihnachtskanne · 24/01/2016 23:37

Obstetrician and late scan predicted DC2 would be 11 lb, which in combination with 9lb DC1's birth by emergency section made an elective section a fairly easy decision! In the end though DC2 was only 8lb 6 Confused

WhatsGoingOnEh · 24/01/2016 23:38

DS1 8lb 2oz, DS2 8lb 5oz.

MrsHooolie · 24/01/2016 23:40

DC1 9lb 5oz
DC2 10lb 6oz
