Hyperemesis Support

I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Hi all, sorry haven't been around lately. Thought I'd pop in to say hi - Still sick, am 35 weeks so know I'm on the home stretch, but have been truly miserable so not felt up to posting. Hope everyone (new and old) is coping OK x

LucindaE · 27/02/2016 08:29

I meant to add to my post below, besides that I hope that loofah and amysmummy are feeling a little better this morning after such a horrible time colabottle I hope the endless rain washed it away rather than you having to do so yourself?
icklekid Sorry to hear about the crisps.
We haven't heard from spandau and others in a while, I hope they are doing OK. Ican't Glad baby is still staying put.

Thanks for all the kind words ladies, feeling a bit brighter this morning, keytones down to +3. Going to eat and drink some sugary stuff today and chill at home... If the keytones haven't altered by this evening I'll ring maternity unit to see what they say... Hope everyone has a nice relaxing weekend planned? Amys already on her third episode of teletubbies 😁

LucindaE · 27/02/2016 11:50

amysmummy I am so glad to hear that, but 3+ is still the level at which many hospitals admit,so I hate to think what they were later last night, after your post. Is Teletubbies still going? My daughter used to watch them many years ago. The names of kids' programmes makes me think; we haven't heard from Peppa in a while. When last she was in touch, she was feeling a lot better, I seem to remember. Also we haven't heard from GoldGlitter or the other expecting twins. It's interesting; they suffer badly early on, but it seems to go off earlier than average.

amysmummy As below; so glad you're feeling better.
I forgot to express my sympathy over curlywurly having an mc before this pregnancy; that is so upsetting, particularly if you suffered badly from Hyperemesis. Also, mrsmonkey mentioned worries about diet a while back.
I meant to say, eallison is one of many who had a healthy, full sized baby grown on the tinned fruit etc recommended on this thread, so don't worry.
The baby takes all the nourishment from you,and you will suffer, while the baby thrives. Remember women were designed to make babies in conditions of near starvation.

Shoop, so nice to hear from you. Think of you often and know you have really suffered with the emotional and mental side of this wretched illness. So happy you have only 5 weeks to go! I'm 30 weeks today! Last time I went to the midwife she pointed out that my weekly changeover day is Saturday not Sunday as I'd thought! Grin
Amys, glad you've managed to get the ketosis under control.
Waves to all. I'm just scoffed a slice of lemon tart which I had a craving for. Here's hoping it stays down.

eallison88 · 27/02/2016 14:55

shoop it's good to hear from you. Sorry you're a full suffering. You're getting close now.

amys well done you, it's not easy to manage ketones yourself. Are you feeling better as well?

LucindaE · 27/02/2016 19:35

shoop So sorry to ignore you, I cross posted. I too, have been wondering how you are. Sorry you are still suffering so late on - really disappointing. So glad you are almost there.
Waves to MotherofPearl -I hope the lemon tart behaves, and lovely
eallison.

shoop waves!!!! Pretty uneventful day, just recovering at home, tonight I'm expecting dd to come down with bug... Hopefully its missed her but I've got a niggle she's going to wake up and exorcist style vom everywhere... Hmm

Reebok · 27/02/2016 20:44

Feel like utter shit (excuse the profanity). Being sick at night again, not sleeping...getting maybe 3 hour tops a night. Exhausted, can barely walk/sit/stand without being in pain, constant painful Braxton hicks, feeling so weak from low iron/insomnia...having to deal with dd alone as oh is always working and when he's here he's an utter prat and not helping me. 5 more working days to somehow try and get through. I feel like I'm having a break down. I'm so sick of this and feel like I have no one in RL to turn to. In tears constantly because of pain/sickness/exhaustion. 31+1 today so 8 weeks and 6 days to go...seeing that list has kind of helped Lucinda so thank you. Sorry for the 'me' rant. Thinking of you all.

MotherofPearl · 27/02/2016 21:40

Oh Reebok, you poor thing. I'm really sorry that things are so terrible. Your OH is not being very considerate. Even if he has to work, a little kindness and understanding towards you would surely go a long way. I wish you didn't have to go back to work at all, but at least it's nearly over. Big hugs to you. Please come on here to chat as much as you need to, if it helps. You've come so far, you're nearly there.
Amys, fx your DD avoids the bug and exorcist voms!
Waves to Lucinda and. Ealli.

icklekid · 28/02/2016 04:03

amysmummy so pleased ketones are down well done you. Hope dd isn't poorly

reebok without dh support I would not be coping. Have you friends or family who could come over? Gentle hug

Sorry for ignoring others it's 4am and ds has been awake on and off crying since 3am because he's got a cold. He's duvet is kicked low but if I go in he won't go back to sleep and will end up in our bed. Oh the dilemmas of motherhood! It's going to be another long day! I've really noticed difference this week in sickness between mon-wed (childcare) and thu/Fri which leads into Saturday (looking after ds). If I'm still and resting I can keep plain food down if I'm having to be active I'm constantly sick. Have therefore got extra childcare for this thu/Friday and signed off another 2 weeks. So tired so going to try and sneak into ds withas a blanket!

LucindaE · 28/02/2016 10:05

Reebok Much sympathy. You must be so cross with OH after his promises!
The pains sound awful. Can physio do nothing to help at all? Don't apologise for language; when suffering - and only for a short time and without a LO to look after -I used to mutter: 'I feel like shite!' (I've always preferred the old fashioned, Northern spelling). Thank goodness you are soon on ML.
iclkekid Much sympathy too, over exhaustion. It is so unfair that the very thing that helps The Scourge most, is denied to so many sufferers - that is collapsing in bed/on a sofa and doing nothing at all.
MotherofPearl Also, it will be so good when you are on ML and can rest properly.

Sorry to hear your night time sickness has reared it's ugly head reebok
ickle I feel your pain, dd wakes up like clock work about 3am each night and usually ends up with us... 😌

spandau1980 · 28/02/2016 16:00

Physio won't touch you of your pregnant.. been there last pregnancy and last Thurs for this pregnancy it's a joke
Spd is awful reebok and will only get worse I hate to say... I've been house bound now for entire.bloody pregnancy due to sickness and braxton hicks low iron and now glorious spd in all its glory
I'm so exhausted I can't cope well at all 30 plus 3
I was thinking exact same about the list I'm 5th on it.yay!!!!!!
Roll.on may !!!

squeezed · 28/02/2016 17:28

spandau I was unrealistically hoping the physio would fix my spd completely in one appointment tomorrow.
reebok So sorry you are having so many difficulties. Is there anything you can take for the low iron? I took spatone when breastfeeding, but don't know if you can use it when pregnant.
amys Hope you are still feeling brighter.
Ickle I know what you mean about how much better it feels when resting. Hope you get some more rest this week.
I felt so faint today I forced a load of food down me and threw it all up. Don't remember feeling faint last pregnancy, but I everything feels worse this time round.

LucindaE · 28/02/2016 18:19

squeezed congratulations on being able to retain iron tablets; I never could and it must be so useful.
Oh dear, spandausqueezedand Reebok, that is disappointing about physio being no good for spd. Did eallison say that she was helped by an osteopath or chiropractor? As they supposedly have those on the NHS, I wonder if there's any chance of those?
Much sympathy to amysmum and icklid and all those with disturbed nights...
Apologies to anyone rudely overlooked..

Arrrghghhhhh! So need to vent!!! Today so far I have:
Cleaned whole of downstairs
Tidied upstairs
Done food shopping
Cooked Sunday lunch
12 mile round trip to moms to get carpet cleaner as dh let Amy rub bright blue eye shadow into beige living room carpet
Deep cleaned afore mentioned living room carpet
Bathed Amy
Now cooking tea

DH had done the washing up and hoovered some crumbs up in the kitchen... He was moaning earlier because he hasn't had five minutes rest from playing with Amy today Confused AIBU to be a little pissed off??!!

mrsamerican · 28/02/2016 18:53

Hi all, I finally got the ondansetron and cyclizine going on Wednesday, but I've barely been able to get out of bed. The nausea and sleepiness is unreal. I've only vomited a few times since then, but even walking a block to pick up my daughter from nursery was enough to make me so tired and nauseated that I couldn't cope. We had some friends round last night, and I made the mistake of staying up until, gasp, 10pm and have spent all day feeling rubbish. It just feels like such a long time to go yet.

I'm coping at the moment by being excited about looking at the Oscars dresses while I am in bed tomorrow. That is one thing that HG cannot take away from me.

So sorry amysmum but glad you are better. Reebok the night sickness is just the worst. Lokah I know you were hoping to skip this, really rubbish, but I can sympathize with you. I think my 4yo has just decided that she hit the jackpot and can watch all the Star Wars her heart desires.

amysmummy12345 · 28/02/2016 18:59

haha mrsA* my daughter has been the same with Spiderman... But not your normal Spiderman, no... She watches random youtube videos of Spiderman in the bath, swimming, having a sauna and the most bizarre one being a female spider woman who is pregnant and gives birth to a little Spiderman figure Confused
