Irritated as I know my dates!

Had previous miscarriages so when TTC I record everything! I know the date I fell pregnant which would make me 36 weeks but scan is saying 35 weeks. Shall I ignore and go with what I know is 100% fact rather than what the scan says?

Depends how you're calculating it. Pregnancy is dated from the first day of your last period, not really connected to when you know you conceived at all. On the scale of things it only ever really matters if you go overdue anyway.

It really doesn't matter though I admit I was miffed that the scan said I was one day less pregnant than I knew I was .

I had this with my 2nd pregnancy. First scan put my edd 18 days later than my own dates. I was sure of my dates but obviously ovulation, fertilisation can happen later/earlier than we thought.
Scans throughout the pregnancy showed baby was big but still within normal range of the dates they had given me.
I ended up giving birth 14 days "early" whereas I always think that maybe I actually was 4 days overdue from my own dates.
Ultimately it didn't make a difference to me or the way my pregnancy progressed.
What is it you're concerned about? Or is it just the annoying feeling of knowing you're right? (That's what I had!)

Yep, pregnancy 2 I knew when I had become pregnant, because DH had only been home one night! They argued right up until I popped only a day or so before the date I said I was due, and almost a week after they thought I was due. Just ignore them.

I was dated 4 days less than I thought I was at my dating scan. Was a bit annoying. But MW pointed out that the dates are a guide only and they work at +/- 4 days. She also reminded us that baby will come when it comes - not stick to a rigid timetable.

I had this. Dated me a week earlier than I knew I was then they wondered why DS measured "big for dates"...because you got the dates wrong

I had this. They were dating me 12 days earlier than what I knew I was. since my 12 week scan I was told I was measuring small and needed extra scans etc

I also went overdue (what a surprise) and then when my baby was born there was an error on my discharge notes dating the birth as on time- I suppose when transposing from my pregnancy notes the ever shifting due date confused them.

I didn't point out the error- I had a weird smug satisfaction about it

We had fertility treatment so knew down to the hour when conception occurred and yet they still changed my date by a day following 12 week scan It bugged the hell out of me but didn't make a jot of difference really!

It's done on size so regardless of your dates from 12 weeks babies are dated by size.

So you you can have 5 babies different conception dates same due dates.

Mine was a week out and he can at 38+3 so all irrelevant in the scheme of things.

It's only an estimate and full term is 37-42 anyway.

But the day you have unprotected sex isn't necessarily the day you conceive. Sperm can hang around waiting for a fertilised egg for up to 5 days.

Scary, would that be the date you gave them at your booking in appt before your scan.

On the front of my notes was the date I gave before my scan.

Mainly because baby is lying transverse and I'm worrying about it. I'm in so much pain and just want a decision on what will happen. 1 week makes all the difference when it's comes to when they decide to do scan to confirm and then to do c section.

You're right, bypricking but it can't go back in time. I had been using a conception app, so was totally certain that we hadn't conceived on the date they said.

It is annoying.... I went 40 + 11 before they induced me, but I know it was actually 40 + 18. Gave birth to a bowling ball !! Hence a elcs the second time.

Think about it as your EDD is nothing to do with your conception date.
It's to do with predicted growth from your 12 week scan.

They don't tend to turn as there isn't enough room after a certain number of weeks. Luckily I have private cover so I'd need to get paperwork to them asap so I get booked in

They have to go with the scan as that's the medical evidence. As pp have said it doesn't mean anything anyway. I thought they usually did an elc for breech etc at 39 weeks so you would be 40 weeks by your dates. Full term at 37 weeks anyway so the risk of you going into spontaneous labour wouldn't be that much higher than a week earlier.

Fingers crossed they grant you the section (assuming that's what you want?) and if not, you can always appeal on grounds of preference?

Really? I know a lot of last minute turning babies I thought it was very common.

I know people who have booked in for a section and baby has turned.

One thing about labour is you never know what's round the corner and 36 is still very early

Do you mean they changed your date based on the 12 week scan?

They don't normally change due dates based on late scans like 35 weeks as they aren't accurate enough.

Baby isn't breech it's a transverse position. Only option is C section.

Going by dates based on 12 weeks scan.

If you are basing it on the 12 week scan it's all pretty academic. That's what will be used.

My 12 week scan was wrong. I knew t was wrong because I hadn't had sex in the window they said I had conceived in. It was still the date for all purposes, including induction (though my care path was rather different and I did have supportive care).

Assuming you will be having a planned section, what difference does it make? If you go into labour, you dash in and its technically an EMCS.
