Just a quickie...things have gone from bad to worse I'm afraid. I've been at the hospital every day for various monitoring & tests had to have an emergency Scan which showed yet another complication to the baby to add to my list! Hence I haven't been able to post on here, So the end result is I'm being admitted today (weds) for c-section tomorrow. I am quite distressed about it all and probably won't be on line for a while obviously as I'll be in hospital for quite a few days. But hopefully I'll be able to post some old fashioned good news when I get back.

A very scared but positive DIXIE xx

Early days, Dixie, in that with a c-section you're probably not out yet, but just to let you know we're all thinking of you and hope everything has gone fine. Report back when you get a chance.

Hi everyone

I'm not feeling too bad although I have been diadgnosed with having Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD). Anyone else suffering from this? Basically it's where your pubic bone widens too much during pregnancy. This causes excrutiating pain in the groin region which for me occurs when I lift one leg, i.e. when getting dressed (have to sit on bed), turning over in bed (the worst), going upstairs, getting out of cars. The midwife has said there's not alot that can be done about it but I'm hoping to get a physiotherapy appt to see if there are any exercises that I could do. Oh the joys of pregnancy!!

PamT · 25/06/2002 14:10

Debster, there was a lady at my ante natal class who also had that problem. She saw the Physio who taught her how to move in such a way as to cause less problems but I know that she suffered quite a lot of pain and wasn't able to walk very far or very fast as she got larger. There was also some problem with delivery positions but you will no doubt be advised about this nearer the time. Poor you, I hope it doesn't get too bad.

Debster, not nice. I am absolutely knackered most of the time and ankles starting to swell so making feet and upwards ache. Other than that no problems or worries. Midwife on Thursday and then I think it is down to 4 weekly appointments for a while, seems like countdown already

debster · 25/06/2002 21:25

I'd already managed to track this web site SueW but thanks for mentioning it too. I felt a bit of a fraud when I read the discussion boards as the women there seem to have a much more severe form of SPD than me. However, the pain is pretty horrible and although I can still walk ok (thank god) it does make other aspects of my life a misery. I had the same thing with my first pregnancy but thought it was just normal aches and pains. Now I realise it isn't. Does anyone else find pregnancy one big hassle?

Joe1 · 26/06/2002 09:12

Debster, I dont find it a hassle, just alot more difficult second time round with a toddler. Much more tiring and sometimes I just want to rest but still things to be done. I havnt had much sleep last night and feel that I havnt been to bed at all so cant wait for ds to have his nap later and I think I will join him.

I had quite a bit of morning sickness this time round and occassionally still am sick and ds now pretends to be sick too.

Its not long now, over the half way and countdown now on. I have 14 weeks to go and that wont take long to come round.

ariel · 26/06/2002 11:20

Debster, ds is now 4 mo and dureing pregnancy i had spd, although i didnt have it as severe as some women ,it was still very painfull. I would definetly recommend seeing a physio, although the pain does not completly go some of their recommendations do help alot. They can show you how to sleep with the right support, how to get into and out of bed and how to sit in a position that causes you the least pain, i have so much sympathy with you ,i started to have pain at 8 weeks and it lasted untill 2 days after i delivered.
