enid - try not to get too worked up - these are the last few moments of peace probably for at least 20 yrs!

if you want to speed it up - champagne, curry & sex, that should cheer your dp up!!

good luck.

Demented · 18/10/2002 14:00

All the best Enid, you get to that stage when you will try anything, I still can't face pineapple, try and include a few flights of stairs in your walk, you never know!

Joe1 · 18/10/2002 15:00

Funny you should mention the stairs demented, although I had a feeling thingswould probably be starting soon, I had spent the evening up and down a step ladder painting before I went into labour. Get going Enid

Demented · 18/10/2002 22:28

Ahhh, maybe that's what did it Joe1. At the end with DS2 we still lived in a flat and anyone who was with me despaired as every time I went in the door I would take a deep breath and run like a loony up the stairs (we lived on the second floor). I don't think it made any difference but it felt good.

tigermoth · 19/10/2002 09:11

Enid, I was late with my second son and the inducement day was looming.

The day before I went into labour I had a very long, active day in Crystal Palace Park with my 5 year old. Didn't go near the sports pitches obviously, but did lots of yomping up and down from playground to boating lake to cafe. I arrived home feeling thoroughly walked out and then sort of 'not myself' and then the contractions started....

Hope the rain keeps off, if you are walking lots.

Good luck!

Tetley · 19/10/2002 11:16

Enid - sorry to hear that you're still waiting - hopefully it should happen for you soon.

I, on the other hand, have news of my arrival - I had my baby on Thursday morning Son no.2 arrived at 4.37am, after a labour that had started on Tuesday morning, stopped on Wednesday, then started again on Wednesday night - so I was mighty relived in the end to get it over with. I also managed a VBAC - it was touch & go a couple of times that I'd need a second Caesarean, as his head was very high & not descending, but we got there eventually. He weighed 8lb 4oz - which seems massive compared with his brother who was only 7lb 1oz!
I was allowed home later that day, which has been lovely to be back in my own bed, even though I desperately need some more sleep.....

I'd better go now & prepare for the in-laws who are arriving shortly.
I've got my fingers crossed for you, Enid. Good luck!

Congratulations. What is his name? (you don't have to say if you want to keep secret)

Congratulation on the arrival of your little Tetley Tea-boy or should that be your half pint? Lovely to hear that you managed VBAC, it must have been a relief. Hope you get all the rest you deserve. Pam

Enid - if you can stomach it Castor Oil did it for me but I must warn you that you will experience the most unpleasant sensation (IME) of feeling like a tap has been turned on when you go to the loo

Joe1 · 19/10/2002 17:20

Tetely, well done you and hello little man.

Demented · 19/10/2002 19:18

Congratulations Tetley!

I don't know why the in-laws feel they have to come round after you have had a new baby, mine did that too!

Tetley · 20/10/2002 13:52

Hilary - his name is Oliver.
Thank you all for your messages. I managed to stay in bed most of the morning, thanks to my kind dh so have caught up on some sleep (although Oliver was feeding every 1-2 hours through the night
Agony day today as my milk has arrived, so my boobs are like two melons!! Cabbage leaves all over the place!

Marina · 20/10/2002 18:51

Juat caught up with your news, Tetley - congratulations and well done on managing a VBAC!

bossykate · 20/10/2002 21:01

congratulations! well done on the vbac.

SofiaAmes · 20/10/2002 23:36

Tetley, congrats on the vbac. Having just managed one myself 3 weeks ago, I can guarantee you that it's worth the pain of the labor. 3 weeks after my c-section I was still hobbling and certainly not feeling myself. Yet 3 weeks after this birth, I'm out and about and even made the mumsnet get together on friday.

Janus · 21/10/2002 14:03

Well done Tetley, I love the name Oliver. Take care and hope you continue to get the odd lie-in!

bundle · 21/10/2002 14:29

well done Tetley, I'm giving some thought about topic of VBAC myself (now 16 wks)

Rosy · 21/10/2002 16:05

Congratulations on your new half-pint, Tetley!
