I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

immortalwife Welcome. You've had excellent advice already from eallison
and others, so I can't add much. Do watch out for dehydration; invest in some kesostix to check when it begins, if you find you can't keep much liquid down for twenty-four hours then it becomes serious. Sips of coke, soda water, some swear by orange squash, ice lollies, iced cream (the cheap sort) and as eallison said the famous juice of tinned fruit and the tinned fruit itself if possible, and nibbles of crisps are sometimes bearable.
Aseallison says, you need meds to handle it.
Peja I was wondering how you were. I'm so glad you got help on this thread and things seem to have settled down to a managable level.
MOP I am so happy for you about the scan. I am also happy for you that you and OH rarely quarrel, which indicates he must have been brilliant at helping you with LO at the worst stage.
eallison My memory must be going - that is one of the speediest progressions to Ondansetron I've encountered. My apologies to your GP's!
spandau That is awkward - sorry to sound unfeeling, but now the rest of your family can join you on your spartan diet!
ICan't Congratulations on somehow attending that wedding.
EMS I'm so glad baby is angelic. He can set an example to DD!
TWoDrifters I hope that did the trick. This shows how long ago my pregnancy was - my daughter jumped every time those threatening drums went off in 'Schindler's List'. They don't like drumming. It seems cruel to recommend a drumming CD, though...
I hope everyone is able to cope through Christmas. You are a brave lot.
I admire you all. Next Christmas will be different. You will have a baby and an appetite! Reebok I hope you get some sort of a let up and a nice present from OH.
Apologies if I've rudely ignored anyone.

Just wanted to wish you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas. Will be thinking of you all and hoping that you are able to get some rest and enjoyment over the next few days. Xmas Smile Thanks[santa]

LucindaE · 24/12/2015 13:20

Madrigal I meant to say, congratulations on good days, sorry! They'll outdo the bad days soon with any luck. Thanks for the lovely message. Just saying early, Season's Greetings to everyone. As I say below, next Christmas you will reap the rewards of this misery; you'll have an appetite and a baby.

Argh just back from getting my prescription - dr has decided to move me back onto cyclizine! It didn't work at 7wks so I don't think it's going to work now Confused luckily I don't start them til my current pack runs out on Monday but I have to say I'm not looking forward to a meds move again.

OnceAMeerNotAlwaysAMeer · 24/12/2015 17:07

sorry for silence, the last days have been busy.

daffodil huge grats, such lovely news :)

MoP grats on the scan =)

immortal wife welcome. Yes, it does get better but not for a while. Usually improvement begins between weeks 14 and week 22. HG is utterly miserable and a joy-sapper. Are you on meds, and can you rest?

Hope to catch up tomorrow (nice relaxed xmas here) and thinking of everyone.

eallison88 · 24/12/2015 17:22

Quick one just to say, in case I don't get chance tomorrow, I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas. As had been said, next Christmas will be so different.

Iamdivergent I wonder why that is? Sorry for this move; I hadn't heard of that being done before; If you deterioriate, I suppose they'll have to put you back on stornger meds.

Hoping that you've all been able to enjoy today. I've just managed to sit down and I might not get up again.

Reebok · 25/12/2015 20:21

Sorry been silent for the past few days. Been hard with dd off nursery for the past few days. Feeling like a single parent as oh either at work or not helping me. Still not getting along even on Xmas day. Sickness hasn't been awful but still there. No Xmas dinner though for me. Sticking to basics. 22 weeks today so hoping it will decline now.

Can I ask a tmi question? Regarding my downstairs area...is anyone feeling swollen on their vagina? The outer area? Sorry! Don't know who else to ask!

Mop a belated congrats on your scan.

Icant I'm so sorry to hear you're back in hospital you poor thing. Sending you gentle hugs.

Hope everyone managed an okish day today.

LucindaE · 26/12/2015 10:08

I hope everyone had as good a Christmas as they could, under the circumstances.
Reebok Never worry about tmi about anything! I do remember my vagina being swollen. It also turned bluish in the most intriguing way. Grin.

MotherofPearl · 26/12/2015 19:53

Hello all, been a busy and tiring few days, but feel like I've come through OK and been able to take part in most of it. All pretty exhausting though.
Sorry that you're feeling rough Spandau. I wonder why your doctor won't prescribe omprezole when it seems to be so effective? Hope you're getting the rest you need.
Reebok, I know what you mean about that pain. I get that ache sometimes when I have my period, and occasionally it's cropped up in this pregnancy too. Not pleasant.
Icant, how are you getting on in hospital? Have they got those pesky ketones under control now? I feel sad for you having to spend Christmas in hospital. As others have said, next year will be completely different.
Hope you've enjoyed your Christmas Lucinda? You're so kind to keep looking in on us, even when I'm sure you have a lot on.
Big festive waves to everyone!

LucindaE · 27/12/2015 09:53

MotherofPearl So glad you could cope well with it. Thank you so much for your lovely comment, much appreciated. The awful thing is, for the next two days I won't deserve it, as I have to disappear on short notice to my mother's, but I know full well you, eallison and OnceaMeer will call in and do a wonderful job of helping the women on here. Back in a couple of days (goes off clucking and flapping).

OP posts:
ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 27/12/2015 11:38

ketones down to 1+ :) If I can eat some food I'm allowed home for a few days.
hope you have a lovely few days Lucinda.

iamdivergent · 27/12/2015 11:40

Been sick once yesterday and once today (I had cereal for first time in about 10wks this morning) and feeling pretty shitty. I really hope I'm not backsliding, as I've had a good run of about 7wks I think it is of only being sick once a week or so. I'm sure the cyclizine isn't going to help once I start them again Tuesday Confused but rest assured I'll be back at dr pretty sharp if this is the case.

15wks today - only another 25 or so to go! Had my in laws in stitches on Christmas day, someone entwined that it's a leap year and I said "oh great I get to be pregnant an extra day next year - yay" in a really sarcastic tone! Just trying to stay upbeat really, have drinks and nibbles at a friends this afternoon, hoping DH won't want to stay too late.

iamdivergent · 27/12/2015 11:42

That's great icant

eallison88 · 27/12/2015 13:59

icantthat is better news, fingers crossed you get some food down (and keep it down!).

iam hopefully it's just a bad couple of days. Have you had a busy Christmas period? Cos I'd imagine that would bring about a bit of a blip. I'm glad you wont stick with th cyclizine if it doesn't work! Just remember new years day on Friday,so get yourself to gp weds/Thurs if not working!

I hope everyone's recovering from Christmas :) at least there's plenty on the telly to collapse in front of!

BarmeeMarmee · 27/12/2015 23:14

Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't managed to catch up on the thread but hoping all have had an ok day. I'm 29 weeks now and have spent today feeling horrific! I give up! 😀
