I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

madrigal congratulations on your pink baby! :)

poppie maybe you can find a decent cleaning liquid that doesnt smell too bad and ask your husband to use that?

About the toothcleaning - would children's toothpaste or mouthwash help? I could only manage mouthwash but quite a few people find the children's version of toothpaste helps.

LucindaE · 20/12/2015 19:00

Welcome to BargamotMouse and Poppie (I love the smell of bargamot, but I probably shouldn't mention this here). Bergamot I am glad the new does is helping. Don't hesitate to go back if it stops. It's very hard to deal with, but everyone is lovely on here.

Poppie I am a bit concerned at your waiting that long with that level of vomiting as you must be dehydrated already. Can you get to A and E either tonight or tomorrow very early? If your urine is very scanty and dark, skin dry, head aching, you're dehydrated. Or could you get someone to get you kesostix from a chemists to test?
Madrigal Happy news.
Sympathies for Iam and all those feeling foul.

PoppieD · 20/12/2015 19:35

Hi all- I've got icepops which I am breaking into chunks and holding in my mouth till they melt- which i hope is staving off too much dehydration- if am still like this tomorrow DH will be off to chemist for the sticks you mentioned. Think just feel midwife has just made me feel a bit of a drama llama with the 'lets just see how this goes'.. Feel less crazy that is not just me with the smells and things- am thinking of also instructing DH to buy a set of swimming nose plugs tomorrow and see if that does anything for me. Sending positive thoughts to all and thanks so much for info and support.

Reebok · 20/12/2015 20:01

Think the trip to dds Xmas party was too much for me on friday. I've felt awful all weekend. Although I've only been sick twice the entire weekend, the nausea is never ending. Plus the pain and exhaustion is really bad too. I feel so weak and have no energy. DD is running rings around me and I find myself shouting at her constantly because I feel like shit. Oh has been working so I've been all alone.

Bergamot, you forget the hg misery once baby is here. I'm on my second dd but fourth hg pregnancy (I miscarried two). People ask me why I put myself through it...well I want two children. Hg isn't guaranteed...so should I not even try for a child?

To be honest meerka sod Xmas this year. I'm really not bothered. I feel like death at 21 weeks. 22 weeks on Xmas day...maybe it will finally lift!

Madrigal congrats on the girl! So pleased for you.

Sorry not to reply to everyone else individually. I need to collapse now.

TwoDrifters · 20/12/2015 21:37

Madrigal Congratulations! Excellent news!

spandau1980 · 20/12/2015 22:01

Reebok Hope you have good night's rest and feel a bit better tomorrow.
Waves to all. Great advice from Meerka eallision and others.
Apologies to anyone I've rudely ignored.
Ican't Dare I ask how things are?

Teeth; I was rarely able to brush my teeth when pregnant and relied almost entirely on a child's fruity mouthwash (tried quite a few before I found one that didn't make me heave/hurl). I was really worried about my teeth but only needed one filling replaced so my teeth came thru pretty unscathed. A word of advice, don't try to brush your teeth 15 mins after hurling, your teeth are weak at that point due to stomach acid. Mouthwash to take taste away!

TwoDrifters · 21/12/2015 08:29

Morning all! I am so sick of vomiting being my first action every day Sad

I even set my alarm extra early and take a cyclizine, then go back to sleep, hoping the tablet will have "kicked in" by the time I need to get up.

Then I wake up at the proper time, cough and choke for about 5 mins with excess phlegm, then violently throw up what I assume includes the tablet.

ARGH! Happy Monday all!!

BergamotMouse · 21/12/2015 08:49

Morning all,

I've been setting my alarm to take a tablet at 4am but this morning I was sick at 4:20. Would any of it been absorbed already or should I have taken another? I feel like I'm getting worse.

I'm still managing with my mild mint mouthwash but if that stops working I'll definitely look into children's ones.

BergamotMouse · 21/12/2015 08:51

Haha, very similar post twodrifters. Apart from that I didn't manage the get back to sleep part.

LucindaE · 21/12/2015 12:14

Morning to BergamotMouse and everyone. I did find kids strawberry toothpaste bearable, rubbed on the teeth, though sometimes a kid's toothbrush is bearable with a small head. Sometimes I was reduced to giving myself a home made mouthwash with bicarbonate of soda and water and that was bearable (I had a dentist who used to use it) but probably not recommended. I've heard that about the acid, eallison. It even applies to acid from sweets, and bile is is far more acidic than that.Great advice from you and everyone as ever.

Cyclizine didn't stop my sickness ... either I did or I didn't regardless of the pill... and 9.9 out of 10 I threw lol...

Exhausted dd was up at 12 1 3 4 am and wake 6 45 I dunno how she does it.. she has no maps in the day and went to bed at 8 pm! !!!

LucindaE · 21/12/2015 13:46

spandau Much sympathy. Such a disturbed night is bad enough without Hyperemesis.

Daffodil328 · 21/12/2015 18:31

Hello everyone! You might not remember me...was miserable and vomiting earlier on in my pregnancy and you lovely ladies here made the difference between me coping or not!!
Anyway just to say that my beautiful baby daughter Grace was born on Saturday at 00.25, we are still in hospital but both doing well and going home today.
The minute she was born no more nausea!!! And it's all a distant memory now as I am Grace's proud mum.
So to encourage everyone- this sickness has a time limit and you will get there too!
Xxx

MadrigalElectromotive · 21/12/2015 19:08

Congratulations Daffodil! So lovely to hear about your daughter being born and the end of the terrible nausea. Flowers

MotherofPearl · 21/12/2015 19:36

Congratulations Daffodil! That's great to hear, and always encouraging to hear about new arrivals in the Pink Castle! You next Two; any sense that baby has turned? Sorry about horrible morning voms.
Sorry also to Bergamot. Maybe you need to try different medication, as doesn't sound like it's working?
I wonder how Icant got on today with her sister's wedding?
Spandau, I'm not surprised you feel rubbish when you get so little sleep! My DS is going through a nasty phase of waking at 5:30 which I hate, but at least he sleeps through the night. I hope your OH gets up with her, not you!
How's everyone else getting on today? I've had a reasonable day but am feeling very tired after a pre-Christmas supermarket shop this morning. I had DD with me who was a big help with checking things off on the list and packing bags at the end, even though she's only 7. Seems like just the other day when she was a toddler who made supermarket shopping a nightmare! Makes me remember how fast the time goes and that May really will come around before I know it. Or so I'm trying to convince myself!

Reebok · 21/12/2015 20:01

Congrats daffodil! Great news. Enjoy newborn cuddles.

Two keeping fingers crossed for you that bubz turns soon.

Spandau I feel your pain. DD cries throughout the night and seems to be waking daily at 4.00 from reflux pains...plays and finally sleeps again by 5.45 for two hours if I'm lucky. Between the peeing and pain I'm getting no sleep and find myself feeling worse. It's her last day at nursery and I honestly just want to cry. Having to deal with her a lot by myself. I can't handle much more. I feel like a terrible mum for wishing she was at nursery every day. I love her so much but have no patience at the moment.

Mop it's lovely your dd is being so helpful. Get a good rest now though pls! No more work. Just sleep!!!

Hope everyone else is managing ok. Sorry for anyone overlooked. X

TwoDrifters · 21/12/2015 23:49

Congratulations Daffodil!

Thanks Lucinda, MotherofPearl and Reebok for the well wishes - unfortunately the midwife couldn't tell at all today what position this little mite is laying in so I will have to wait until 30th December now for my next appointment and ask them to do a quick scan.

In the meantime it's back to all fours and the birthing ball…

amysmummy12345 · 22/12/2015 04:29

Congrats daffodil Flowers Xmas Smile a lovely Christmas present!!

I must say ladies, over the past few days the nausea and voms have really taken a back seat, fingers crossed I'm coming out the other side!!! Two things that still guarantee me heaving until I throw up though are brushing my teeth and feeding the cat ConfusedBlush so I try to do both as quickly as I can, dh always forgets to feed cat so I end up having to do itAngry

Hope everyone is fairing well and all set for Christmas?

One more thing, what's up with this insomnia thing?! I've always been a crap sleeper but now its every night for two hours Xmas Sad

eallison88 · 22/12/2015 06:51

daffodil congratulations!! I remember you and an so glad it's all over and you're in the pink castle! Enjoy every minute, it's the best (and only a bit exhausting!!).

amys I think the disturbed sleeping is a normal pregnancy thing. Someone described it to me as your body getting ready for the lack of sleep its gonna have to wirk with when baby arrives!

Ems10000 · 22/12/2015 11:19

Congratulations Dafodil! The relief from HG is amazing isn't it! Enjoy every second with your beautiful baby girl xx
