I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

OnceAMeer LucindaE I've been trying the on-all-fours position today! eallison88 And yes I do have a birthing ball but need to blow it up! I will get DH to do that tomorrow…

I'm still being sick most mornings but so long as I take cyclizine it seems manageable. I've cut down from 3 a day to 2 so that's some progress.

Waiting for the hospital to call me & give me a date for my ELCS but obviously hoping the baby turns himself before then. Hopefully they can tell me yes or no at my 38 week appointment in 10 days time! Hmm

TwoDrifters · 11/12/2015 23:56

ICantThink cross posted, sorry! Glad you're being looked after but sorry you need it Flowers

PeppaPigStinks · 12/12/2015 06:10

Hello all.... I'm not back with a bfp but back to ask some questions!

Reebok - waves- I am sure you were here when I had loads of support from you ladies before.

DH and I have agreed to 'not prevent' number three but not actively try Shock

PeppaPigStinks · 12/12/2015 06:12

Oops posted too soon.

Those that have had HG in second and third pregnancies - how soon did the nausea and sickness start.

My experience of HG is a perfect contraception in itself I think. And after feeling a bit ill yesterday I started to wonder if I can go through it all again!

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 12/12/2015 08:56

morning peppa, last preg it was 6 weeks and this one was from about 5 weels - was naive and thought it was a bug but no hg. I should have tried meds straight away but didn't, now 18 weeks and having a terrible pregnancy but ive health problems which doesn't help. good luck whatever you decide to do :)
(both pregnancies are boys)

Reebok · 12/12/2015 09:15

Morning all, sorry didn't post yesterday. Was in a lot of pain so trying to rest. Bleeding started up again too so literally lay in bed or the sofa all day. Nausea seems to be never ending but no voms yesterday which is great! 20 weeks now!

Icant I'm so pleased they have finally got you on ivs. It's a pity you have to travel back and forth though!

Peppa I remember you from my hg pregnancy with dd! This time round the hg started at 5 weeks...was 6 with dd. Sickness is taking longer to go this time. On stronger medication though (ondansetron) which has helped to control the vomiting. If you do decided to try for another, get on meds straight away. I started on cyclizine and while it didn't work for me and I still ended up in hospital, it may work for you. Good luck to you!

amysmummy12345 · 12/12/2015 14:00

Hi all, welcome back Peppa 😀 had a rough few days, got a headache I just can't shake, which in turn is making the nausea ten times worse 😓 hope everyone is having a good day? Xxx

spandau1980 · 12/12/2015 16:42

Worried about you reebok.... hope bleeding sods off after all you ve been thru so far x
I can't ur care sucks arse but hope you feel.some benefit from the little they are doing xx

Peppa HG has been worse each preg for me and quite frankly I am never doing this again ...

Waves to all...
Oh and hope baby spins around two

PeppaPigStinks · 12/12/2015 17:52

Reebok take it easy Thanks

To be honest I am due on next week and have had waves of nausea.

I am starting to wonder if I can do it again (too late if I am pregnant) but it is putting me off ttc for another baby.

LucindaE · 12/12/2015 19:09

Rebok Bleeding and cramps again must be a worry. Have they given yo any phone advice?
squeezed Two vomits is two too many, but people on here are very stoic.
Pippa Welcome back. Whatever you wish for, I hope comes about, re conception. How is LO two?
amysmummy Sorry about headache. Hormones can creat havoc with those, and these gales and atmospheric changes seem to make headaches worse.
*ican't Great that you are getting out. Will they provide transport for you to do that journey twice a day, with DS? How do you feel generally? I hope a tiny bit better.
spandau How are things today?
Madrigal Loss of lunch is not nice. I am glad it was the only vomit, if spectacular.
OnceaMeer We've had almost none stop gales and rain since early November, and disaserous flooding in Cumbria and Lancashire and other places. I should think there must be flooding in the Netherlands, as it's beneath sea level? Or are the defences really good?
TwoDrifters Good luck for on fours and birthing ball.

Reebok · 12/12/2015 21:10

Thanks Peppa and Spandau.

Lucinda I've just been told to go back to hospital if bleeding increases in quantity (so far it hasn't). As I'm now 20 weeks I will have access to maternity triage rather than having to go to a&e.

Being sick today and feel horrendous. Seems to be non stop lately. I hate feeling crap but I guess I should be thankful I'm not feeling as bad as I did in my worst weeks. Thinks it may be down to the fact I've dropped down to 2 ondansetron a day and my body is telling me it's not ready so will go back up to 3 tomorrow. Really thought by now I'd be able to drop a pill or two. Oh well. Another day done ladies.

shoopshoopsong · 12/12/2015 22:23

Every chance you will get some relief soon Reebok, especially on enforced bed rest. Is OH around to look after DD this weekend?

Today was my first day back from staying at my mums so while DH is working im being in the real world again with DS my responsibility. I started off being sick and feeling miserable but it did get easier, trying to persevere and not panic at the bad bits.

amysmummy12345 · 13/12/2015 08:31

Hi Reebok, hope the bleeding has subsided some? Hopefully the extra ondansetron will help with the sickness today.

Hope you have a better day today shoop xxx

LucindaE · 13/12/2015 11:08

Reebok As others say, the bed rest should help. It's a very anxious time for you.
shopSorry it's not started off brilliantly; fingers crossed things improve rapidly.
amysmummy How are things with you?
I hope everyone is not feeling too bad.

MadrigalElectromotive · 13/12/2015 11:13

Hi everyone. How are you feeling today reebok? Hope everyone is having a calm, quiet day. Things have been pretty good for me - I think I'm coming through the worst of the hg now. Today I am trying only taking one ondansetron, rather than the two I have been on, so I'm a bit nervous but I think I'm ready. I'm still going to take the full dose of stemetil for the time being though.

RubyReins · 13/12/2015 12:20

Hello ladies. Been away for a while as been so busy with work (the eagle eyed amongst you may recall I was in a massive court case - bloody thing ran to 36 days and still isn't totally done!). I still await day 5 of being vomit free and I am now 32 weeks. To add insult to injury it appears to be the case that I have gestational diabetes again Sad. The only risk factor being that I had it before. No food stays down so I look forward to the repeat visit to the useless dietician... (she advised me to eat baked potatoes last time Confused) I was recently told that I have taken on a worrying green tinge - Elphaba chic. Safe to say that I am never ever doing this again!

Hope everyone else is doing as well as they can.

amysmummy12345 · 13/12/2015 12:26

Thanks for asking Lucinda I'm not too bad today, headache seems to have run it's course... Ruby I'm a lovely shade of gruel grey 😂 at least we're in fashion with khaki colour trend 😁

RubyReins · 13/12/2015 12:30

I find a matte blue red lipstick sets it off beautifully

OnceAMeerNotAlwaysAMeer · 13/12/2015 18:30

ruby good to hear from you, been wondering how you are. Really bad luck that you've not had a vomit-free period at least. How far along are you now?

madrigal good idea bout easing off the meds gradually. Maybe a half tablet morning & night (or whenever you take it) instead of just one? it rather depends on when your worst patch is though.

Reebok also worrying about you and hoping that you are resting as much as possible. Please don't try to change your med quantities until you have stabilized generally

Ican't how are you doing today??

hallo pippa, nice to meet you :)

Lucinda the water defences here are amazing. After the dreadful 1950's Great Storm they went all out on building the Maeslantkering. So the NL has been okay so far. Just proper Manchester weather, rain, rain and rain!

squeezed · 13/12/2015 18:51

My day is summed up by a warning, mince pies are awful when they come back up. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

spandau1980 · 13/12/2015 19:14

Hi all...
Had a couple of reasonable days.. then pow dd up from 1 30 -5 last night nearly threw my brekkie then did big lunch for everyone and I think I either over ate or I was due a spew but wow
Vomit central...
Felt absolutely dreadful since...
Good old HG you think u feel a.fraction better and you try to eat or how dare I have a half glass of squash and bam back to awful day...

Oh has actually been great today :) let me rest after spew session ... think it's easier for him when I'm ill on n off not constant like in early weeks...

Feel so sick again as I've had some toast ...

And as for mince pies squeezed I'm avoiding anything new lol like I said I had some squash earlier ... no no no !!

GoldAlmond · 13/12/2015 19:22

Hi ladies, hope you're all coping ok

Just came back to update (my baby is 3months old but the sickness lingered after birth)... well the sickness has now disappeared!! Seems like metaclopramide and omezaprazole did the trick. In space of a week my life has transformed. No more retching over loo in mornings, no more running to throw up after meals, no more heartburn. I can now enjoy my baby and eat normally. I'm still BF so maybe GP was right and it takes a few months for BF hormones to settle (he said around 4months BF is driven by baby suckling not hormones so the levels gradually tail off). I can't describe the relief! I've been able to get out to baby groups, take the bus, eat out... the dark cloud has lifted!!

So ladies if your sickness persists after birth please please seek medical help ASAP! The meds that failed when I was pregnant worked after birth but I struggled for months thinking I just had to wait it out. The first GP saw insisted it was a GI problem and tried to refer me for a gastroscopy! Luckily I got a 2nd opinion and meds.

Good luck to everyone! I'll try to pop back now and then to see if I can help or advise. HG is awful but it really does end and it's amazing how the colour comes back into your life when it does.

Hugs and hope to everyone suffering!

amysmummy12345 · 13/12/2015 19:49

Yay Almond!!! Glad to hear it!! Enjoy your little one 😍

Squeezed that made me lol 😂

Spandau sounds like a bad day 😔 hope tomorrow's better?

Hope icant, reebok and everyone else is fairing ok, another day done ladies! Can't believe I came on the board when I was barely six weeks and now I'm 14+3!!! Times flying, thank goodness!

Went to a christingle service at my church today, was lovely to be doing something other than moping about the house, took my mind off the nausea for a while at least.

TwoDrifters · 13/12/2015 20:12

GoldAlmond that is brilliant news!!! Hurrah and huzzah!!! Star

OnceAMeerNotAlwaysAMeer · 13/12/2015 21:02
