I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Thanks icant, meerka and Lucinda.

Icant you just amaze me again and again...suffering so badly yet you're still able to help the rest of us when we feel down. Thank you. You are truly wonderful.

I suppose with each pregnancy hg may get worse lucinda. Maybe that's the case with me? Don't know...don't get me started on oh. He's not pulling his weight which is making me feel worse this weekend. Started my morning with a bile/acid run...haven't had one of those in a while so it resulted in tears. Didn't manage to keep down my Meds. And I've felt awful now for the rest of the day. Snapping at dd non stop as she's being really difficult...feeling like a horrible mum...I can barely walk with the sciatic pain in my lower back, bottom and hips but even laying down makes it painful. Heartburn is awful this weekend so bringing up lots of acid which in turn makes me feel sicker. Plus now I have a chesty cough and bringing up extra phlegm. Just completely run down and feeling very alone as once again RL support isn't there.

Spandau I agree with mother hen about the meds. Take the omeprazole. I honestly think I would be worse than I am now without it. By the way I'm another one guilty of allowing dd to sleep near me. Couldn't cope with the constant waking up at night from her reflux. Much easier to deal with if she's next to me particularly as my useless oh doesn't seem to hear anything when he sleeps so would just be me getting up. Sending you gentle hugs.

eallison88 · 06/12/2015 14:40

spandau I totally understand the reluctance to put more drugs into your body, but omeprazole is so good at dealing with heartburn. And we all know how difficult it is to get meds out of gps, so id they've prescribed it you need it and is safe. Plus they give omeprazole to babies with acid reflux, so it'll be fine for you and baba.

spandau1980 · 06/12/2015 15:51

Thanks all. Will go and see my gp this week. Need some ensure drinks or somat I'm so low on iron and vitamins my skin is flaking on my upper arms and my hairs falling out ... lol I'm a frigging mess...

I too have sciatica and now spd is returning
My tummy is constantly going tight hard n heavy at the moment. I had this in previous preg and it worried me sick but all was well... so trying not to stress. Think it's lack of fluids and my pelvic floor is pathetic despite exercises

Anyone else get the tight pain in lower tummy and heavy feeling ?????

amysmummy12345 · 06/12/2015 17:19

Hey all, hope you've all had a reasonable weekend? Sorry to hear so many of you are feeling so poorly 😓 I've got my detailed scan and cvs test tomorrow so I've got everything crossed that's it's going to go well... On a positive note the sickness and nausea has really eased off over the past few days... Not holding my breath though in case it's just a passing thing! Thinking of you all xxx

MadrigalElectromotive · 06/12/2015 17:33

I hope it goes well tomorrow amys.

Having a bad sickness day here. Yuck. Trying to focus on the good days I've had in the last week or so. 15 weeks tomorrow.

eallison88 · 06/12/2015 18:39

amys I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. A good few days are usually a sign of a corner turned and more better days ahead

OnceAMeerNotAlwaysAMeer · 06/12/2015 19:02

amys thinking of you for tomorrow, fingers and toes crossed.

spandau could it be braxton hicks? i got uncomfortable BHs all the way through, then really quite painful ones a few weeks before til the Pipsqueak made his entrance. Painless my arse!

madrigal it's always an up-and-down thing when the improvement starts. Hopefully tomororw will be better!

reebok it doesnt sound like you're over the virus last week, really. Have you got a sicknote for next week?? It's horrible when you snap at little ones but when things even out, you -do- go back to normal and they -do- see Mummy is better and more even tempered again. you are doing the very best you can and the love will shine out, even if there's hte odd bad day.

Reebok · 06/12/2015 19:11

Spandau sounds like Braxton hicks. I'm having them too. Thought it was too early but my sister had them from 16 weeks so anything is possible. And I agree it's bloody painful! Those who say it isn't haven't had it!

Amys keeping fx for you. Thoughts are with you.

Madrigal sorry to hear you're feeling rough. Hopefully you will turn a corner soon.

Meerka no sick note. Going to force myself in tomorrow and see how I go. Only 11 working days to go.

DD decided to have a tantrum at bedtime and kick me and then scratch me. I ended up hiding away from her for a few minutes in tears. She eventually realized she had hurt me and apologized. Feeling like I can't handle her at the moment. I have no energy. I'm so thirsty too and I think it's messing with my head but can't find anything to keep down. Fruit is a big no no these days so can't even rely on tinned stuff for the juice or grapes anymore. Arghh another day is over. 19+2 at the moment...nearly half way there!

OnceAMeerNotAlwaysAMeer · 06/12/2015 19:17

reebok .... honestly, please consider a sicknote. glad your daughter calmed down but lass, I'm worried about you. Work & that commute is the last thing you need

LucindaE · 06/12/2015 19:44

Oh dear, Reebok I am sorry things are so fraught. I sol agree with Oncea Meer, sounds as if you are pushing yourself too far. Is it possible to get a sicknote again? It sounds dire about liquids; ice lollies or ice cubes no good?
I so agree about Braxton Hinks, everyone; painful.
Madrigal This morning I meant to congratulate you on feeling better and lost that bit of my message. Sympathies about relapse, I hope it's a temporary blip.
Waves to eallison OnceaMeer spandau Icnan't IamBarmeeMarmee Charlie TwoDrifters squeezed amysmummy and all you brave women. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, amysmummy.

Reebok I'm having struggles with my dd too... its horrible feeling so rough and trying to stay calm.. as we re both not sleeping it's making matters worse..
Dd took an hour and 10 to settle but I was determined shed settle awake in her bed ... bloody awful though have to grit ya teeth as they scream and sob... I feel so evil but know I have to for our own sake ...

Amy good luck for tomorrow hunni.. xxx

amysmummy12345 · 06/12/2015 21:04

Must be something in the air with DDs... Mine bit me last night! She's been bubbling over today too, we've put the Xmas tree up so I'm thinking its excitement plus being fed up of me moping about I think 😓 hoping all our girlies return to Santa's good list very soon!! Xx

MotherofPearl · 06/12/2015 21:59

Just dashing on to wish Amys all the very best for the CVS tomorrow. Will be thinking of you and hoping all is well.
Sorry that both Spandau and Reebok have been having such a rough time, both with sickness and with DDs playing up. It's exhausting dealing with toddler tantrums at the best of times, let alone when you're really ill. Hoping for better days for you both, and for everyone.

amysmummy12345 · 06/12/2015 22:14

Thanks MoP 😍 xxx

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 07/12/2015 07:50

Just quickly saying good luck to Amy for today & thanks to Reebok and everyone for your kind words.
Hope you all have a good of a day as possible

impatientlywaiting2015 · 07/12/2015 08:26

Amys thinking of you today. Hope it all goes really well. I am still waiting for my results (expecting a phone call sometime between now and Friday) and have to face a buffet at work today- at least there are plenty of bins in our office- let's hope I won't need to use them!

squeezed · 07/12/2015 08:57

Amysmummy good luck for today.

Hope spandau and reebok have better days and Icant has an uneventful one. Waves to everyone else.

I've been less sick so hoping to go back to work tomorrow. Hang in there everyone.

shoopshoopsong · 07/12/2015 10:16

Hope you get a phone call soon enough impatiently and that today goes well amys
Waves to all

BarmeeMarmee · 07/12/2015 10:34

Amys another one thinking of you and keeping everything crossed

LucindaE · 07/12/2015 10:44

I can only echo others' words. Will be thinking of amysmummy today.
shoop and squeezedHow are things? ImpatientlyWaiting It must be awful putting on a brave face at work, and you're brave too to face a party, bins or not. madrigal Do you feel any better today after a bad weekend relapse? Oh dear about DD's playing up, no doubt wondering a bit where the healthy Mummy went, but she'll be back, they'll forget, and they'll have a sibling too, and it'll all be worth it.
Ican't if you don't mind my asking, what's the care plan at home? Hoping you get some light at the end of the Hyperemeiss tunnel soon.
spandau And hoping for a good day or two for you at least...
Oh dear, Reebok I hope you don't feel too bad at work today.
BarmeeMarmee Have things improved again. Charlie has been quiet of late. I hopethat's a good sign.
Waves to all.

mmmmminx Welcome, sorry you are suffering. It's miserable, and isolating. Also very difficult for teachers, as they feel so guilty. Unluckily, you do seem to have the scourge- vomiting two or three times a day even with treatment and not being able to work is more than normal pregnancy sickness. Hopefully, the doctor will be reasonable about a note as he knows your history, but this link might help:
tps:sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/treatments/obtaining-treatment with some advice about sick notes. There's quite a few teachers on here at the moment.

mmmmminx Ah, and I meant to say I wasn't palming you off with that link, but hoped it might be useful about what to say to get one.

MadrigalElectromotive · 07/12/2015 12:51

Hi minx sorry you're here. I nearly had to go back to work the other week, and after a bit of a talking to from Lucinda and Meer I decided to try to get another doctors note. I was convinced he'd say no, but he was actually more than happy to write it, and was surprised that I had been considering going back, so it might be that you don't have much of a battle on your hands at all.

Lucinda thanks for asking after me. Unfortunately the relapse is continuing today. Sad I'm just so frustrated - I really thought I'd turned a corner last week and now I'm back where I was before. Angry

BarmeeMarmee · 07/12/2015 13:07

Welcome Minx to the thread no one wants to need!

Lucinda thanks for asking-not feeling good still. Struggling to drink today although I have eaten a bit and keep thinking of the midwife telling me my ketones were up already last week 😟. Have had to ring in sick to work today. Between the HG and my SPD I just can't do it at the moment.
