Gm!

Grizzer really hope that ur osteopath appt gives u some relief with ur back pain..when do u go off work? i'm perhaps the 'youngest' member of this group..only 7 wks..no i have no dc, would have had children aged 5 and below, had my previous 5 pregnancies been successful...i have been struggling over last 6 years and my life almost feels like on a complete standstill..but i am keeping everything crossed and hoping this to be my thb.

May I ask, why are you still on heparin at this stage of pregnancy? When did ur consultant stop the aspirin? Was it after 1st trimester or in early pregnancy itself? Did u stop using progesterone cream after 1st trimester too?

Brook its funny but sometimes gas leakes through front door too and makes the popping noise when it mixes with the wet environment there.., i had that at around same time in one of my pregnancies..it could be that or as u said movements..i know 20 weeks scan is a big one..but i'm sure all will be well..Fx

Isla, that's a great idea..thanks x

Ellie2015 · 25/11/2015 11:28

Cloud, just read ur post..so glad to hear hr positive story..thanks for sharing..i am 100% confident nasal saline spray should be fine for ur rhinitis if that helps..just make sure u take an 'adult' dose ;) if not there are some antihistamine/steroid nasal sprays available too and their systemic absorption is minimal so u can try them too it nasal saline doesnt help. Sometimes simple steam inhalation helps relieve the congestion and inflammation too but i'm sure u must have tried all that...x

IslaMann · 25/11/2015 13:16

Ok I'll do a post, of s couple of you can share your EDD and whether you know the gender and I'll start it off. I'll then share and hopefully people can add themselves. If not I can keep it updated but that may be a bit of a ball ache if I have to do it all.

IslaMann · 25/11/2015 13:17
  • if a couple of you ...
notfromstepford · 25/11/2015 14:07

Great idea Isla

I'll start you off - I'm having a boy and my EDD is 29th March Smile

cloudjumper · 25/11/2015 14:20

Here are my stats

cloudjumper, 43, 1 DS, EDD 1st Jan (ELCS booked for 22nd Dec)

Thanks Isla EDD 12th Jan. Surprise gender. 1 dd already.
I had a dvt after dd was born Ellie. I had retained placenta which went undiscovered until I got an infection and dvt and ended up back in hospital for 2 weeks.
I think I started the aspirin at 6 weeks, when I had my first scan. I can't remember exactly when it stopped but it wasn't the first consultant I saw so it was definitely in to the second trimester. I also stopped the cream early on too as my progesterone was fine & I was nervous about going too far the other way.
They have mentioned a c section Cloud but they definitely want to try turning it first. My next appt is 15th dec so I think they'll talk more about it then. Are you stopping the heparin a few days before your section? I think that's their main concern for me. Blood thinners & major surgery aren't a great combo!
I'm struggling with breathing too. I've been practising my natal hypnotherapy but can't breathe out long enough for '1,2,3 relax.' Not sure how the natural route is going to work out for me this time.
I have everything crossed for you too Ellie. Are you having an early scan?
I think I started to relax a bit after 20 weeks Brook (only a bit!) it's a real milestone.

Ellie2015 · 25/11/2015 22:27

Grizzer cant believe u had DVT due to retained placenta which went undiagnosed! Similar thing happened to me after my 4th abortion. I kept bleeding and had endometritis due to retained placenta which i had diagnosed on D3 of my abortion and contacted them again on D10 but they ignored my symptoms. I ended up suffering with bleeding pain and fever for three months...

Anyway, can i ask u lovely ladies..i am feeling like i've come up with a sore throat on one side..i can see that it is increased in size and there is a bit of whitish/light yellow coat on it. It doesn't look red or inflammed right now. I am on Prednisolone and aspirin and am really scared for it to turn into proper bacterial infection and need of antibiotics..esp u know i'm in early pregnancy..i've started gargling with warm water and salt...have any of u got any home remedy to advise? Thanks, gd nt x

cloudjumper · 26/11/2015 09:01

ellie Gargling with salt water is probably the best you can do! I can recommend Manuka honey - but be warned, it is expensive, especially if you buy the strong stuff. Hope it gets better soon. Problem with pregnancy is that you pick up every illness under the sun anyway, which is not helped by all the medication.

I've had a rotten night's sleep, so tired now... Can't wait to finish work, so that at least I'll get a chance to have a nap during the day! I also seem to sleep best around the time I have to get up (nothing new there Grin).

Ellie2015 · 26/11/2015 11:27

Thanks Cloud dh bought sainsbury's honey last night, which i took with lemon water but its too early to say whether it worked or not. Yes continuing with salt water gargle too..Fx

Oh poor u, hope ur day goes quiet and u catch up with loads of sleep.

May i ask when u were in first trimester, how many times did u ladies wake up at night for loo..oh i seem to be making lot of trips..

Ps: just read my own post from last night, just so i dont confuse anyone..when i said abortion, it was a medical termination of pregnancy in second trimester. Its amazing how we cant be relaxed even after delivery! :(

Ellie2015 · 26/11/2015 12:24

Also wanted to ask, when did u all start doing pelvic floor exercises? with all the spotting and stuff, i havent yet started doing them..

Grizzer · 26/11/2015 18:49

I spend quite a lot of time thinking I should be doing pelvic floor... Even downloaded a squeezy app! Haven't quite got round to it yet though. Does that mean everything is going to collapse once the baby comes? Grin
I'm not sleeping either Cloud. It's awful isn't it? I'm in the middle of writing school reports too which is stressing me out. Deadline is Monday & I've hardly started. Really busy weekend with birthday parties & swimming lessons too. Plus Sunday is my natal hypnotherapy course. Moan moan moan Hmm

Ellie2015 · 27/11/2015 17:54

Grizzer Noooo not everything is gonna collapse once the baby comes just the...Wink but on a serious note, there are so many women who do not so pelvic floor exercises and they are fine..i was just curious to know what u guys have been doing :)

Natal hypnotherapy..thats interesting! Never heard of that!..wish there was some hynotherapy for first trimester which could take my anxiety away..:) x

Ellie2015 · 27/11/2015 17:58

Hope both u Grizzer and Cloud catch up with loads of sleep during the weekend. Brook all the best for ur anomaly scan coming week. Have a fab weekend all of u xx

cloudjumper · 30/11/2015 11:41

brooke When is your scan this week! Another milestone...

Pelvic floor exercises, hmmm Hmm I have to admit that I have not really been doing them, apart from when I was actually in the gym (which has been less and less in the last few weeks. I'm kinda thinking that since I am going to have a C-section again, I hopefully will not be having too many issues with my pelvic floor afterwards (I had no problems after the emcs with DS). I am also very lucky in that I have quite a strong pv anyway (I used to do a lot of Pilates when I was in my thirties). Sorry, not helpful!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend! I spent Saturday nesting pottering around, going through baby clothes, which are now everywhere! Yesterday we had a family get-together for FIL's 70th birthday, which was very nice - but I am really achey today from walking around the National Trust place where it was held!
It's my last week at work, yay! I am now really looking forward to not having to leave the house in the morning. Still lots to do, but there is an end in sight!

OP posts:
brookeberry · 30/11/2015 18:23

It's tomorrow!!! Thanks for remembering all - it's been such a countdown and now I'm not thinking about it too much - what will be will be. But I'll let you know how we get on.

Hope everyone is doing well. Great that you've only got a week of work to go cloud and ellie whenabouts are you - do you have a scan coming up soon?

notfromstepford · 01/12/2015 08:27

Good luck with your scan brooke Enjoy your last week at work cloud and hope everything is going well with everyone else.

brookeberry · 01/12/2015 21:22

Hello all, exhausted and delighted to say that all went well at the 20 week scan today! So nerve-wracking, but put at ease straight away. It does feel like a great milestone. I feel I can actually start to look ahead which I haven't been letting myself do.

Hope everyone is getting on well Smile

Grizzer · 01/12/2015 21:26

Great news Brooke. It's always such a relief to see the heart beat on screen. Did you find out the sex?
So jealous of you finishing work Cloud. I'm currently bouncing on my gym ball while reading school reports. So tired I just want to go to bed but they have to be in at 9am & I know I won't relax tonight if I leave them. 2 weeks 3 days for me. Counting down.....

IslaMann · 02/12/2015 06:56

Apologies for lack of stats post everyone. My laptop has died so having to wait til I can get to a PC rather than using my phone. It will come, promise!

katscriv1 · 02/12/2015 08:23

Brooke that's wonderful. Same for my 12 week scan. Thank you too for recommending this thread!

brookeberry · 02/12/2015 08:43

Yeah kat that's wonderful news! I was more nervous at my 12 week - that's a brilliant milestone. So glad you've joined the thread as well.

Thanks grizzer and yes the second I see the heartbeat, I don't hear much after that, the relief is unbelievable. We're having a little boy! We weren't going to find out but then we couldn't resist - just wanted to know as much as possible.

Still trying to get my head around the fact we are going to have a little baby boy - I've spent all this time worrying about the pregnancy continuing I might have to actually start thinking about having a child and becoming a parent . . . ! Smile

cloudjumper · 02/12/2015 09:09

Excellent news brooke and kat! Hope you can relax a bit now...

grizzer I'm spending most of my evenings on the ball as well now, the only thing that helps my sore hips and lower back. I suddenly seem to have lost all mobility, everything has become much more of an effort. Up to the point that I am considering taking the lift to the office (on the 1st floor) every morning! I have resisted the temptation so far, but only because I have just 3 days left!

I finally started packing my hospital bag yesterday Xmas Grin But only got as far as putting some of my stuff in... Small steps.

Grizzer · 03/12/2015 19:06

Take that lift Cloud! I work upstairs too, with toilets downstairs unfortunately. I'm struggling far more than I did with dd. I've had 2 osteopath appointments which have helped but I was trying to turn over in bed last night & actually had to get up & get back in facing the other way! I don't know if it's because baby is lying across instead of down. Really painful though.
Welcome Kat. When is your 12 week scan?
When is yours Ellie? I'm sure you've said it 100 times but I have a goldfish memory at the best of times, without factoring in exhaustion!
I'm interviewing someone for my job tomorrow! Weird eh? It's not the main job but just the leadership part. 2 internal candidates who are both good so it's going to be tricky. Hope there is no bad feeling after.
I had a tidy up in the house last night. It's not completely done but I felt so much better for clearing some space. Dh's sister arrives tomorrow for the weekend so I'm leaving the spare room for him to do. Wishful thinking I'm sure!
Dd wants to put the tree up tomorrow. I normally do it the following weekend but I will probably give in. She keeps making things at school to hang on it though so I might have to let her decorate the bit that faces the wall Xmas Grin

katscriv1 · 03/12/2015 19:39

12 week was Tuesday, when we discovered I'm actually at 13, and was a massive relief. Don't worry about goldfish memory, Grizzer - I've been having senior moments since my 20s and baby brain isn't helping! Hoping to go back to work at beginning of Jan - been the puke queen since week 6 and desperately hoping it will ease up soon, not to mention climbing the walls!
