Ellie, so good to hear that the upshot of today is that all is well- even if it was a bit of an uncomfortable day for you.

the curry did wake the baby a little, but he was still subdued and he had a quiet night and only really moved again at lunchtime today. I think he was gearing up for a growth spurt, perhaps, as today he's been jumping around again. I'm actually looking forward to getting so big that there is no doubt as to the movements, because at the moment there are too many places for the baby to hide and scare the hell out of me!

Ellie2015 · 27/01/2016 18:01

Great news City, ha ha so cute! you'll soon grow that big dont worry :) oh just read my own post, cant believe i hv written an essay. Guess just got carried on in the tube ;)

They hv asked me to see a women's health physio for my urine incontinence. How did u get in Kegel's? When did u start them? Has it helped so far? I know its a continuous process but still i'm not sure i should get into it or not..

Hows ur rhinitis? I'm doing much better with the steroid spray. Touchwood! x

brookeberry · 27/01/2016 18:49

Oh yes you've reminded me ellie, is it a good idea to be doing kegel exercises? I asked the midwife yesterday and she said nah, just do them afterwards. Really . . . .?

mrslebon · 27/01/2016 21:36

Congrats blooming - he is delicious! Great birth story too!

notfromstepford · 28/01/2016 09:25

Glad to hear all is OK Ellie although that does sound like a painful morning - ouch. Good the spray seems to be doing the trick too.
I'm 31+2 now, I don't know where the time is going - it's flying by! I was off work all last week with a really nasty virus/cold thing that proper knocked me for six. Night before last I had a massive coughing fit and really pulled a stomach muscle - which was just the place baby decided he wanted to kick me all day yesterday (after hardly moving for 3 days).

City glad the curry did the trick! The downside of getting bigger is that you start to struggle to do up your shoe laces Smile I am seriously contemplating ditching the shoes in the next couple of weeks and just sticking with flip flops!

outputgap · 28/01/2016 10:53

blooming, what an absolute beauty! So lovely. Congratulations.

notfromstepford, we are very similar dates. Trying to get boots on and off makes me a sweary, huffy puffy fury. I have been googling slip ons! The glamour...if it would just warm up a bit I could at least do ballet flats, but I think my toes might fall off at the moment. Would it be awful to have black pop socks and leggings? It would, wouldn't it?

notfromstepford · 28/01/2016 11:04

output - go for it I think that sounds perfectly reasonable! So when is your due date?
I was considering crocs and socks Blush (oh the shame) but couldn't quite bring myself to do it - yet.

CityMole · 28/01/2016 11:53

On the kegels, I've been doing them for about 20 years through yoga, although If I'm honest with myself, not with the kind of regularity that is supposed to make any material difference. I've been trying a bit harder during pregnancy though. Who knows if it actually does anything!

hebs72 · 28/01/2016 12:17

Hello everyone - I've been lurking again, I'm afraid, but so lovely to see two new babies - well done ladies Grin. They both look fab, and you're very clever Star.

I'm 34 weeks today, and finished work last week - and quite frankly, all I've done for the last week is sleep. I've also decided that I really do need to start buying things - well, everything really - but it's definitely freaking me out. I can't help feeling that I'm tempting fate by getting ready for the baby's arrival, and our first NCT class also freaked me out. I'm OK with the concept - I just can't apply it to me, if that makes any sense at all?

I also worry because I don't think there's much pattern to the baby's movements - I'm having scans every four weeks and they always say that it's an active baby, but there are definitely days when I don't feel much at all. And then there are nights like last night when it was moving so violently, I felt like I was in a sci-fi film, and something was going to burst out. And the little cherub is oblique, so I'm about to go and scrub the bathroom floor on my hands and knees, and see if that helps, haha Smile

On a more positive note, I've had some quite nice maternity clothes. Next are excellent for jeans - and they do a short fitting, which is good when you're only 5'1"! Also good for maternity tights and dresses. My tops have come from JoJo, with Gap t-shirts or polo necks underneath in a couple of sizes up from my normal one. Coat is from Zara; kind of a swing jacket, but double breasted, so I can move the buttons out if I need more room. And I got an excellent pair of short boots, which the nice lady in the shop recommended, as they have a little zip and are nice and easy to push my feet into. She said not to get anything too tight fitting, and she was quite right!! So far, I refuse all help in getting them done up, but I may have to weaken soon, and ask my DH to oblige.......

Hello to all the newbies, and keep up with the posts!

Ellie2015 · 28/01/2016 14:36

oh that is an Ouch Notfrom hope u r better today. Do u hv sun out at ur place too? Its absolutely gorgeous weather in London and sun is a great healer for me, so am feeling quite positive today :)

So lovely, u've reached such a wonderful gestation. Glad ur bub is up and active. I like 'crocs' idea. They are my all time favourite! x

Brooke i thought the same re kegels. I'm not inclined to start something new during pregnancy. If it were in my routine before pregnancy then perhaps i would hv continued (like City), no not now. Why did u raise this Q to midiwfe? Do u hv any symptoms or was it just precautionary? U hv come up wih a plan? X

brookeberry · 28/01/2016 15:04

That's a bit of a relief ellie, I thought everyone was silently doing them from the minute they found out they were pregnant! I don't have any symptoms - I think I must have read this somewhere, that woe betide if you didn't do them during pregnancy - you'd be peeing yourself for the rest of your life Grin

notfromstepford · 28/01/2016 15:10

Ellie glad you've got the sun out today and it's cheering you up - we did have sun this morning, but now it's grey, windy and miserable. Glad I'm not the only one who likes crocs!

hebs 34 weeks and finished work, how lovely - may as well get all the rest you possibly can while you can! Movements of mine sound similar to yours, nothing for a few days then loads. I second Next jeans - I bought some relaxed skinnies and they are fab.

mrslebon · 28/01/2016 18:41

I don't know about Next jeans but god I couldn't have lived without my H&M black skinnies! I literally don't wear anything else and I just change it up for work by adding a smart top and heels. They are just so damn comfy. I had a meeting in London yesterday and wore a dress and tights, but the stupid tights kept going below my bump and I literally wanted to rip them off. Just awful.

Been to the see the consultant today and am booked in for a C section on 1st March. So just hope that baby stays put until then!

TheGreaterGood · 28/01/2016 19:54

Another vote for h&M skinnies - I ordered jeans froM everywhere and they're the only ones that didn't go back. Their basic long sleeved tops at £8 are good too. Struggling with swimwear if anyone has any ideas - want something that'll do for the swimming pool and a holiday so perhaps a tankini? Have tried seraphine and jojo ones with no joy - have ordered a next one so will see what that's like.

EagleRay · 29/01/2016 00:52

Who the hell can get H&M jeans/trousers over their arse? Confused even going up 2 sizes I couldn't get get heir maternity trousers past my knees.

Sorry I've been totally slack on posting - will try and post properly tomorrow as have some clothes shopping tips! Had to buy emergency swimwear recently as joined a spa then realised I had nothing to wear. Other than a scruffy maternity skirt, am still in regular very big clothes

Congratulations to Blooming!!! Wonderful news! Will try and post properly tmw

notfromstepford · 29/01/2016 08:59

Not got long to go then mrslebon good luck for the 1st March - how far along will you be then? Oh and I'm really impressed that you are wearing heels - my canckles are not looking good in heels.

EagleRay I couldn't get H&M skinnies over my calfs let alone my arse!

TheGreaterGood · 29/01/2016 09:25

Eagle Stepford - I can't get their normal jeans on either...but the maternity ones are stretchy and bigger (although I'm still in a size up from normal)...

brookeberry · 29/01/2016 11:25

I'm usually a 14 and only fitted the sixe 18 H&M maternity skinny jeans! I do love them though. I'm living in those and H&M maternity leggings along with baggy jumpers and boots - thank goodness it's a chilly time of year, I'd have to make much more of an effort otherwise. Not sure what I'm going to wear late March/early April . . . .

Hope everyone is doing well.

TheGreaterGood · 29/01/2016 11:48

Brooke - I'm with you on the warm weather fear...I'm due in July and not very good at summer dressing at the best of times. Not sure a maternity short would be very flattering!

Grizzer · 29/01/2016 15:45

Wish me luck ladies. I have got my pre maternity clothes down from the loft & will attempt to put on a 'normal' pair of jeans tomorrow.... Very nervous Grin

mrslebon · 29/01/2016 15:59

I'll be 39 weeks @notfromstepford by the time I'll have the C section so hopefully they won't muck me about and keep me waiting. I have to go into hospital at 7.30am and it's nil by mouth from 6.30am which will be a killer!

I wear a size 10 in the H&M skinnies. I think it's the specific ones I've got which are really soft and easy to get on and off. It's these super skinny ones I have in dark grey (sold out online): www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0300024006.html

I tried other ones in H&M but they were either the wrong wash or just too restrictive or just too cheap feeling.

Nicky333 · 29/01/2016 16:36

I have jeans from H&M. I tried on three different pairs, all size 8 and one pair wouldn't go over my thighs. The other two pairs fitted perfectly and the one I ended up getting was the skinny shaping ones.

So I think it depends which pair.

Good luck Grizzer Grin

outputgap · 29/01/2016 18:21

stepford, crocs and socks! Genius! It has a lovely ring to it. It's sort of a progression from the hipster ironic socks and sandals, right? Hmm

I'm due at the end of March. Basically the Easter weekend, so it'll just be me and the cleaner on the labour ward, won't it?

Grizzer · 30/01/2016 19:18

We were worried everyone would be hungover or off sick on the 30th December Output but labour ward was chock a block! Everyone loves a holiday baby so I'm sure Easter will be the same.
