ooooooooooooooooh.....did she!! what did she say about your cervix..in terms of position , soft, dilating??

if you are ready to labour, then you will go into labour 24 - 48 hours from now....or thereabouts!!

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 04/12/2006 15:50

she didnt really say she was more excited about feeling his head. When i went to hospital last weds they said it was soft. She just said alot had changed since last weds...

that sounds promising...head well down, obviously a nice soft cervix, easy to reach and a little dilated.......very very positive and all pointing in the right direction......get on that gym ball and stimulate those nipples !!

Hi
my sister had a sweep at 10 days past her due date at midday, she was contracting well 4 hours later. Gave birth soon after 10pm the same evening!!! She was obviously ready!

Hope things start happening for you soon.

Had three sweeps as was determined not to be induced unless I/baby was in danger if pregnancy continued. GOOD LUCK!

belgo · 04/12/2006 16:02

My second sweep started mild contractions which lead to the birth two days later - so it did work!

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 04/12/2006 16:02

thank you

Had two sweeps - one at 4 days overdue, one at 8 days, the second one definitely worked - my baby was born 15 hours later after a super-quick labour. And at that one MW said same things - that she could feel top of baby's head and a lot had changed. Make sure your bag is packed and good luck!

I had a sweep at around 4 days overdue and boy, the midwife really gave it her best shot. I felt sick as a parrot after but starting having fairly strong, regular contractions a few hours later and ds was born the next day.

hope you don't have to wait too much longer

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 04/12/2006 17:46

do you bleed proper blood after a sweep.

OP posts:
NotAnOtter · 04/12/2006 17:49

yes - sweep at 11 am - nothing much just period pains - another at 7 pm baby born at nine!
Good luck

belgo · 04/12/2006 17:50

I don't think you should bleed proper blood after a sweep - but it is possible to have a bloody show.

lulumama · 04/12/2006 17:50

are you having a bleed debbsy? you can lose blood/ show after a sweep, but not a lot....call the labour ward if concerned...bleeding can be a sign of dilation, esp as you have no issues re the placenta..if it is bloody mucus...it is likely to be more of your show.....

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 04/12/2006 18:21

no it was proper blood not mucusy at all also had the worst case of the trots ever and feeeling really sick and crampy.Phoned the ward they said yes its common but keep an eye on how much blood.

lulumama · 04/12/2006 18:28

diaorrhea, blood, cramps.....might be the start of something !

keep your fluids replenished and remember to eat.!

Dingdongdebbsyandbibbyonhigh · 04/12/2006 18:32

thanks lulu it scared me for a minute there.

OP posts:
lulumama · 04/12/2006 18:35

bit of blood is ok...as your cervix has been fiddled with and stretched and swept and irritated!! gushing not good....

glad you have got some reassurance from labour ward x
