I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Reebok - I've found that my already low pain tolerance has decreased while pregnant. I wonder what caused that. Earlier I was very achy due to always lying down. Only thing that helped was lavender and Epsom salt baths.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Looks like nesting kicked in a bit today. My toilet has never been so clean. Although, after spending so much bonding time with my porcelain buddy this year, I think my toilet cleanliness standard has greatly increased.

MotherofPearl · 13/10/2015 10:43

Morning All. Lying in bed fighting waves of nausea. Not feeling great.
Reebok, I have the same thing with water. I can't drink any during the day, but wake up at night and am so thirsty I drink gulps of it. I think it stays put because I go straight back to sleep. During the day I can manage sips of ice cold fizzy water.
Hope everyone surviving OK.

spandau1980 · 13/10/2015 11:04

Tmi question
Dies anyone strain so hard to "go" toilet that they worry they'll. Miscarry
I nearly passed out earlier
Really getting me down
Hospital gave me senna
Can't buy enemas or be prescribed as pregnant :(

LucindaE · 13/10/2015 11:44

MotherofPearl Sorry you feel so foul. Very dismal, waking up to yet another day of this. It's very X 1,000 times hard to bear. On taking in fluids at night, I knew a woman on here who kept out of hospital through drinking copious amounts of coke through the night, the only time she could stomach lots of fluid.
spandau Never tmi on here. I never heard of anyone miscarrying from straining, but it's understandable to be anxious and anyway not good for one's back passage. Are those chemists' suppositories no good or could someone else can get you some? I suppose if you sent one of your fifteen year old twins they would be questioned about using them to for anorexia, or some such thing.
ICan't Poor you, what a situation to be in. How are the meds staying down? is it half an hour for them to be absorbed? Can't remember offhand.
I hope Reebok shoop EMS Bugista TwoDrifters GreyHorses and everyone is coping OK. Apologies is rudely ignored anyone; back soon.

I need a moanSad i got the flu jag last Monday, it might not be anything to do with that but I can't help thinking it. I've been sick everyday and diarrhoea and headaches that turns in to migraines every day. I'm so dizzy and not able to keep anything down. I have been able to get to work much at all I feel so bad.
I've almost given my self anxiety issues with worrying so much, whenever I try and eat food I'm constantly thinking of when it's going to come back up and how awful it's going to be.
I never want to go out and about Incase I'm sick or faint in public. Is this normal? I'm really not sure how my baby is coping because I'm starving constantly and I just can't keep anything down.
I was prescribed co-dyramol for my migraines but this is also making me sick and paracetamol just doesn't ouch it. I suffered from migraines before pregnancy so I knew they'd get worse bit I didn't think they'd get this worse.
Somebody please tell me this is normal and it will pass? It's getting me so down xx

spandau1980 · 13/10/2015 12:18

Hi purple
How far along are you ?
Have you had/got HG if it's come back after jab I'd contact docs

Migraines are evil. Dehydration and stress with sickness will make them worse :(
Again Bak to docs xxx

PurplePoppy17 · 13/10/2015 12:26

I'm 14 weeks now, it started at about 8 weeks then calmed down by 11-12weeks and now it seems to be back and a hell of a lot worse. It's horrible being sick everyday and the migraines do make it so much worse, as they make me feel even more dizzy and sick. I'm having such a rubbish time. Everyone I know is saying don't worry it will pass by 16 weeks ect. I'm so scared Incase IT doesn't pass and I feel like this until I pop. Confused I have phoned my MW so I'm hoping she'll call back soon, I have the doctors in the afternoon too so hopefully I'll get some sort of help. Thanks!! X

LucindaE · 13/10/2015 12:54

PurplePoppy Oh dear, I so agree with others, do explain how bad it is with the doctor. I still remember how awful those migraines are. It doesn't seem clear how far this might be Hyperemesis, so I'm being optimistic and not yet welcoming you to the Thread Nobody Wants to Need to Be On, as it might hopefully be to do with the flu jab/a virus etc, but do keep us informed about how things go.
Meleebacca Lol about Bonding with the Lav.

Yea I can't even go in my bathroom without feeling
Time to puke
It's awful

Purple hopefully it's bug !!! And Lucinda it a thread no one wants to be on... but boy am I glad it's here x

LucindaE · 13/10/2015 13:46

spandau Hugs. Do you know, I read 'War and Peace' when I was suffering, and the mention of it still makes me nauseated to this day!
Ican't How are those meds staying down?
I was just thinking - making a baby is the most skilled work in the world - traditional cabinet makers have got nothing on it -so none of you should be blaming yourselves for finding it hard to do that and endure Hyperemesis as well. That is typically female; we blame ourselves everything, absurdly, as in 'He got pissed last night; it was my fault for not stopping him' Grin etc etc.

Amblingaround · 13/10/2015 13:57

Hello, can I join in please? I am suffering at the moment with constant 24 hour sickness. I thought it was supposed to be morning sickness,

spandau1980 · 13/10/2015 14:59

Ambling welcome :)
How far ru?
Morning ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Reebok · 13/10/2015 15:06

Sorry you're unwell Mop. Another suffering from the nausea. It's driving me mad as I literally lay around feeling like I'm dying and can't wait for bed time.

Purple hopefully it isn't hg. Get yourself to the docs.

Spandau you can buy enemas over the Internet. Otherwise send oh to the chemist. That's what I do.

Welcome ambling. Sorry to hear you're also suffering.

spandau1980 · 13/10/2015 15:56

Oh went chemist they said didn't sell them ...
I can't stand the painful empty puke feeling in my stomach 24/7 nor the retching.

Do meds work better after the mythical 12 weeks ??

I need HOPE lol

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 13/10/2015 16:10

Sorry for the slow reply and I'm bracing myself for a telling off from you lovely ladies ... Blush
Guess where I've been all Day?! Back at work :( a locus refused to sign me off so I went back. Hasn't been to bad but I'm exhausted, sick 4x but that's not too bad, haven't eaten all day just been having milkshakes and not taken the antibiotics as they made me violently sick all night!
Regards to everyone's constipation.. Tmi but I'm the opposite whenever I can manage to tolerate food it passes straight through me Confused
Purple - I hope it's just a bug and not this awful thing :(
How is everyone? Off for a nap but I'll check in later.
I'll await the tellings off ;) x

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 13/10/2015 16:11

I meant locum Blush

BarmeeMarmee · 13/10/2015 16:34

Icant no telling off from me, just hugs and a request to please be careful and look after yourself. And remember now you've been back in you can be off for the next 5 working days and self cert so you don't have to go in tomorrow!!

Welcome Ambling how far along are you?

Sorry everyone else is suffering. I've been off work 2 days with just horrendous nausea etc. Will be back tomorrow though. Currently 18+5.... When will this end?!

Amblingaround · 13/10/2015 16:49

I am due in March. I am not being sick unless I move about, but constantly feel sick. So pleased to find some people who understand.

PurplePoppy17 · 13/10/2015 17:02

Been to the doctors are she's given me anti-sickness tablets, I have to take 1 or 2 twice daily and just place them in my guns under my upper lips and am wait for them to dissolve. They don't taste too nice but so far they have worked. I've managed a cups soup and an apple and I don't even feel sick. Sh thinks possibly the codydramol I was prescribed for my migraines was making this worse and that the flu jab has weakened my anime system allowing a bug that I was possibly carrying to take affect. Which is probably right. It should pass within the week. I'm just glad that I'll maybe be able to get back to normal... (Fingers crossed) Smile

I find that icecles help for sickness for those suffering. Also peppermint tea really helped me.

LucindaE · 13/10/2015 17:03

AmblingAround welcome, that sounds nasty. Can you drink a reasonable amount of fluids, eat at all, and what does dr say about it? Have you been on any meds?
Barmee Sorry that things are still bad; I'm crossing my fingers things improve for you a lot by the twenty weeks mark.
Ican't Mother Hen wouldn't think of telling you off, but I'd like to tell that locum doctor off. I wish you had vomited on his/her shoes. S/he refused a sick note? Angry Remind me how many times you've been admitted, s/he must have seen your notes...It's awful that the meds aren't staying down; what did s/he say about that?

OP posts:
ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 13/10/2015 17:14

3 times in the last month. I refused admition yesterday so think that could be why, but it's just not possible. DP had Thursday and Friday off so going to see how I am then and if still poorly will do for the IV antibiotics.
Was so nice to see all the pupils though it made me smile :)

Amblingaround · 13/10/2015 17:18

Hi Lucinda, cannot eat or drink, or move. Can only lie down on right side. Dr appt fri, hoping will help Smile

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 13/10/2015 17:42

Sorry forgot to say welcome ambling!
It's great thread full of support and advice and I find it's where I come to rant. It's good to have others that understand x

Amblingaround · 13/10/2015 17:52

Thanks ICant

Ems10000 · 13/10/2015 18:05

Hi all, my burst of energy was short lived! Done nothing today and slept all afternoon! Welcome ambling I found the start of my hg was like motion sickness/vertigo, I had to be resting my head against something or the room was just spinning. I hope you improve soon. purple glad the mess are working for you, I had those so I know what you mean about the taste. I tried to take them as soon as I woke up and let them dissolve a bit before I got up. If you find that they stop working go straight back to docs and ask for ondansetron. icant well done for getting through today, I can't believe the doctor wouldn't sign you off but glad seeing the children have you a boost. spandau I found that mess worked much better from 12-14weeks, I think you are right in the middle of the 'peak', hang on in there! reebok sorry today hasn't been a good day, rest is the only thing for it and you will get some relief soon I'm sure. barmee you are due some let up soon, I was definitely better on the nausea front from 20 weeks. Really wanted to wean off the ondansetron before my due date, mainly so I can go to the toilet normally!! But not sure if it's a good idea Confused
