I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Ealli YOU ARE A GENIUS!! This fanta is giving me my energy back and it tastes wonderful with ice! Not come up yet so still a chance it will but I am addicted! It's the only thing which has touched my nausea all day and taken away the horrid metal mouth for a bit.

MotherofPearl · 24/10/2015 20:24

How about some hot boiled water Reebok? Good for hydration and very soothing. Sorry you've had such a bad day. Does sound like a step backwards. Well, at least today is nearly over, and maybe tomorrow will be better.
Spandau, yes to phlegm. It's always there at the back of my throat and when I vom it's always the first thing to come up. Revolting.
Glad your scan went well Icant. Hope the headache lifted.
My day has been OK but tiredness seems even worse than a few weeks ago. Only 1 vom today which is great. Still feel a cold coming on but hasn't 'broken' yet.

spandau1980 · 24/10/2015 20:44

I tried Fanta after it was mentioned on here was ok for a bit til I re saw it and the burn
All fizzy make me wanna hurl now
Milk too as it came up all the te like scrambled egg... can't Bare to look at it now
This HG is making me a drink weirdo x

shoopshoopsong · 24/10/2015 20:48

Reebok I'm glad he was sympathetic and helpful in the end I take back the vom in his face. Sorry you're having a rough time again today. I gotta admit 13 was a bad week for me, 14 slightly better.
The other day I left my bowl upstairs and didn't quite make it up in time and had to clean the sick off carpeted stairs that was very grim.

Was telling my 1.5 year old about the baby in my belly and he started kissing it again. I'm sure he doesn't understand but it was lovely never the less. The kisses soon turned to strokes to slapping my belly so it was short lived!

shoopshoopsong · 24/10/2015 20:50

I'm definitely a drink weirdo too spandau. The only things working for me at the moment is sparkling water and cappuccinos it's strange!

eallison88 · 24/10/2015 21:09

HG turns us all into weirdos with food and drink! Fizzy drinks always made me sick... til I had HG and then I could only drink fizzy drinks or fridge cold bottled water (not tap water, that was horrendous!).

Glad the Fanta is working reebok!

Livelifefortoday · 24/10/2015 21:23

Big hugs ladies, try to keep thinking of your little bundles, it will all be worth it. I'm currently cuddling my 4 month old and the hg is a thankfully distant memory.

Ice lollies worked for me - thank you for the recommendation earlier in the year lucinda!

MissTink · 25/10/2015 00:25

I have been lurking since the last thread but never quite built up the courage nor the energy to type myself. Anyway today I am 14 weeks and been suffering for the last 7/8 weeks. I have been given cyclizine and metoclopramide to help and although taken the number of voms down still have terrible nausea and extreme exhaustion. I also have a 21month old son who seems to have picked up on mummy being ill and has been just amazing but it's still tiring. My OH is wonderful but works away through the week so i am exhausted by the time he home is on Fri that he has to do everything but never complains as he knows how much I struggle through the week. I feel incredibly guilty and lazy due to all of this and feel I'm neglecting my son and partner to lay in bed and wallow.
Sorry for the long post I could go on.....
I feel like I know you all from reading all of your posts for weeks now so hi everyone

Reebok · 25/10/2015 07:44

Oh is back to behaving like a prat. Always short lived when he 'understands'...dd has been awake since 5am...I have been up since 4.30...it got to 6.45 and I was so fed up so I sent her to oh who has been sleeping in the spare room. He's being a prat as he has to look after now yet I haven't slept! I'm so fed up. I wish I could just leave and stay with my mum. My head is pounding and I can't get back to sleep because I'm so upset. Was up being sick most the night so the fanta didn't work. From what I remember last hg pregnancy, 13 weeks was a tough time for me. I went through a point of feeling like I regressed before I got better. Sorry for the me post...just so upset.

Reebok · 25/10/2015 07:45

Congrats Live! And welcome Ms Tink

eallison88 · 25/10/2015 08:37

reebok is it half term for your little one? Could the two of you go to your mums for a few days? I'm sure your mum would love to spend time with your daughter, and it should give you a bit of a break for a few days.

eallison88 · 25/10/2015 08:38

And welcome misstink. As you've already seen, lots of understanding and encouragement to be found here, stick around.

Reebok · 25/10/2015 09:34

Mum isn't well enough to handle dd. She's hard work...plus the constant smell of food cooking and noise is too much to handle. Dd still has nursery luckily.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 25/10/2015 10:48

reebok we live almost identical lives!! I feel exactly what you said and not much sleep either :/

Congratulations Live! I'm about to have an ice lolly in the hope it stays down.

Welcome MissTink this is the most supportive thread ever! It's my lifeline and I quite often need telling off as you'll have seen haha! I've been stubborn seeking treatment.

How's bub eallison?

spandau1980 · 25/10/2015 10:49

Having every one home ain't helping either

Xx

MotherofPearl · 25/10/2015 11:05

Welcome to MissTink, sounds like you've been having a tough time. I'm in awe of anyone who manages to look after their DC full time while suffering. Mine are at school and nursery which makes a huge difference, but even a few hours with them at the weekend leaves me shattered. Hang in there.
Reebok, it's so rubbish that you've regressed so much after what seemed like such good progress. It's the hope that kills! I really hope you get back on track soon. Disappointing about the Fanta fail.
Sorry to see that Spandau and Icant are also in a bad way this morning. Why oh why isn't there a proper cure for this wretched condition?
I've just vomited up the toast I tried earlier this morning. So bored of being sick.

Daffodil3228 · 25/10/2015 11:19

Hello everyone...long time... I've been lurking a little here now and then but mainly focused on me me me lol- I seem to be either at work, yawning, or asleep these days! (With a bit of complaining time in between lol)
So, still clinging to ondansetron once a day to keep the nausea down. Had cunning strategy to call duty doc on wed last week to ask for repeat prescription again (I've been on it since June) cos she is lovely and had this herself. Cunning plan failed and got cautious male doc instead. He said he would give me metaclopramide instead plus unasked for lecture about not harming unborn baby. So agreed to give it a go but worried as am just about coping on reduced hrs at work at the mo and the ondansetron, don't want to go off sick at this stage (33 wks) and trigger maternity leave, generally having slight panic. Bf is pharmacist and worried me by saying metaclopramide has bad side effects.
Anyone had good exp of this medication or advice about taking it?
Thinking of you all today. xxx

MissTink · 25/10/2015 12:05

Thank you all for your warm welcome. It is hard work being so ill with a toddler in tow. When I was preggo with him I was able to lay in bed all day when at my worst now I'm dragging myself down the stairs and laying on the sofa instead cbeebies is a godsend at the moment.

Corabell · 25/10/2015 16:16

Hello everyone.

I ended up at out of hours yesterday as I started to puke and couldn't keep down much even with cyclizine. I've been given stemitil which has cut the nausea down somewhat but I still feel horrendous. Funnily enough I have been drinking orange Fanta as it stays down.

Welcome ms tink. I also have a toddler who is being neglected by me but being looked after by her dad who is having to do everything.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 25/10/2015 16:21

In exactly the same situation with a toddler misstink and being half term no childcare or help :(
cora sorry to hear about having to go to ooh. I found stenmil useless , what others have you tried? I hope you have a better day tomorrow Flowers
I've a horrible thirst but gone off all drinks :/ I used to be a pop addict!

shoopshoopsong · 25/10/2015 16:31

Welcome Tink sorry you have to be here but hope you find it the comfort I have

Hi daffodil sorry to hear you're still struggling but you are on the home stretch now - you've done incredibly well! I don't know that metochlopromide has worse side effects than any others! I take that Cyclizine and Ondansetron and am very drowsy but not sure which of the 3 is doing that. It's preferable to the sickness though!

Sorry to hear you had to go to out of hours corabell I haven't tried stemitil I don't think - how's it working for you?

eallison88 · 25/10/2015 16:53

daffodil from what I understand, it can have bad side affects in some women - specifically, if your leg(s) start shaking, stop taking it immediately. I was on it for a few days and no side effects but no useful effects either! I would ring again and get the ondansetron; you've been prescribed it, you need it. It's not fair for you to be given something that doesn't work - if it doesn't work, make it really clear to gp that it doesn't and ondansetron does.

corabell glad the stematil is helping a little.

Heads up ladies, another day nearly checked off.

icant baby's ok; weekends are easier as I don't feel like I need to deal with him at night cos hubby not working next day. He's had this cold for over two weeks now, and he's back to being sick every feed, so I'm gonna take hin back to gp tomorrow as I'm not happy.

spandau1980 · 25/10/2015 17:32

I'm dragging my arse out midday for walk with my toddler so feel iv done some quality parenting.
I've cooked cleaned and been up since 4 am.
I'm shaking got numb feet on n off and si thirsty all time!!!!
Welcome to newbies and total sympathies on the early 7th ish weeks of this horrible debilitating journey...
I came.on here at 7.5 weeks and was desperate
Didn't think I could manage pregnancy as have 4 kids already and was concidering a termination.

I'm now 12 w 3 d and the ppl on here are the best !
Still along way to go but past the first 12 weeks
Scan on Fri 30th as re arranged from 27th as too early

Keep strong ... its the only choice we have hehe xxx hugs to all I know I awful you feel

Livelifefortoday · 25/10/2015 17:42

I can't, cora and miss tink, please don't feel guilty about neglecting your toddlers, I was in that exact position earlier this year, my dd watched a lot of c beebies, but actually she loved it and practically memorised the songs! Not ideal but not the end of the world. When you are on mat leave you will honestly have so much time to play with dc1 and do lovely mummy things that these long days will be forgotten.

I feel so much for all of you, hg is truly awful.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 25/10/2015 18:13

After diarrhea all the way through I'm now joining the constipation crew Blush
Must be the ondanstatron?
