I'm 31 weeks with dc2 and fecking huge! Put nearly 3 stone on this time so far- last time I put on 16 pounds which I lost within first fortnight.
How much did you put on and initially lose without trying and then how long/much effort to get the rest off?
I'm already daydreaming about not feeling like shit and actually being able to do some exercise.

I'm 34wks with first and have put 15.4lbs so far, and I am already wondering how quick it will come off! I start mat leave soon and wondering how much weight will like on once I stop as I am on my feet at work and feel that has helped! Roll on 6weeka! Hopefully no longer.

Dixiechick17 · 10/10/2015 11:41

I put on four stone, and am just 10lbs off my pre pregnancy weight four months post birth, most of that I lost in the first 10 weeks without trying. Am staying put at the weight I am as don't want to lose more.

Skiptonlass · 10/10/2015 11:41

14-16lb in total put on. Bump was massive - an absolute whopper!

I gave birth on Monday - still not weighed myself (little one is a total vampire and digging out the scales is hardly a. Priority...) but my suspicion is I've lost most of it already.

I'm surprised.

50degreesintheshade · 10/10/2015 12:09

I put on 15 kilos and I had a massive bump considering I'm only 5 foot tall! Five weeks later and I have lost 13 kilos without doing any exercise. Can't wait to start exercising after my 6 week check this week ??

BeeMyBaby · 10/10/2015 13:59

I put on about 3 stone with dd1, lost almost a stone shortly after birth, then a couple weeks later I got a major bug (stuck on the toilet for two weeks whilst bfing) so lost another stone and took 11 months to get rid of the final stone so started the same weight for dd2 and put on about 2 stone which was lost within about 6 months... Have started about 2 stone lighter than with previous 2 pregnancies but gained 2 stone at 25 weeks- if I gain another stone I'm not too worried as I know I can get it off.

Trinpy · 10/10/2015 14:11

Exactly the same experience as Bee after the birth of her first dd except the stomach bug I got caused me to puke off all of the remaining 2 stone.

I'm hoping not to put on quite so much weight this time round.

Runningupthathill82 · 10/10/2015 14:35

With DS I put on two stone exactly. Started at a size 12. Lost it all within 7 weeks and then worked bloody hard to lose another stone and a bit.

Started this pregnancy as a size 8/10 and have put on two stone already, at 25 weeks. Feeling huge, embarrassed and worried about how much more i'll gain before January!

Scattymum101 · 10/10/2015 19:44

With dd1 I put on 4 stone. Took me 6 months to lose and then I lost a further 2 stone by the time she was 1.
With dd2 I gained 22lbs and lost it by 10 weeks post baby.
I had to work hard to lose it first time. Second time it came off much more easily.

ODog · 10/10/2015 20:07

I put on 3.5st last time. Lost most within 6weeks and lost a further stone (to make my weight less than pre-pregnancy) within a fortnight of stopping BF after 5 months. I didn't do anything special, just a couple of buggy fit classes and I certainly didn't watch what I ate too much. You'll be fine, don't worry.

CarrotPuff · 10/10/2015 20:15

2st and a bit with DS. Lost 1.5st of it within 5-6 months, the rest had to take an effort to lose (I did 5:2) but can't really tell how long it took as another pregnancy and mc got in the way. Finally lost the remaining weight by the time I got this BFP (DS was 19mo).

Put on about 10lbs so far, but I'm only 19w. I'm planning to start 5:2 much earlier this time, as ideally I'd like to lose another half a stone on top.

nicoleferrari91 · 10/10/2015 20:25

With DS1 I put on about 2 stone - had morning sickness everyday up until labour and was basically eating crap. Lost it within about 4 weeks and then put alot of weight on whilst I was off on maternity leave because I had PND and didn't want to leave the house Sad

Currently 41 weeks with DS2 and only put on 11 lbs which I find hard to believe as my bump is massive! Think it may be due to being heavier at the start as it was just after Christmas or not having much of appetite x

nightmarehair · 10/10/2015 20:32

10lbs with dd lost it within 4 weeks and so far am currently 30 weeks and Gained 5lbs.

mummyneedinganswers · 10/10/2015 20:39

I'm 32 weeks and haven't put on or lost anything I'm still exact same weight as at booking quite concerned about it really seeing it's not normal to not gain x

Runningupthathill82 · 10/10/2015 20:51

I honestly don't mean this in an offensive way, mummyneedinganswers, but are you already overweight?

If you are then it's not so worrying - a friend of mine who weighed around 17 stone when she got pg didn't put on an ounce, and was in significantly better shape after giving birth to her DD. She used her pregnancy as a time to eat better than she had before, and do some light exercise - and of course she wasn't drinking so much.

But if your BMI is normal then it's more concerning. Do you have a big bump? Do you think you've lost weight from elsewhere?

CoffeeAndOranges · 10/10/2015 20:52

I am 34 weeks today and am a whopping 3 stone heavier already. I am not expecting to lose it before next April/May which will be 6 months post partum. I have had spd and cannot walk v far, although friends I haven't seen for ages commented today that they didn't think I looked like I'd put that much on?!

Wish I had put less on, would love to have only gained a stone. Maybe next time!

MrsBartlettforthewin · 10/10/2015 21:50

With DD i put on about a stone and was back in my normal clothes by 2 weeks after birth. With DS i lost almost a stone during the fun of morning sickness then put back on a stone and a half during the rest of pregnancy. I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight by my 6 week check. This time i've not paid any attention but feel about the same size as i did with DS.

GrubbyWindows · 10/10/2015 22:18

I tend to be borderline underweight, but I put on 22kg, mostly in the first trimester! I lost about 11 of it just giving birth, and the rest went just by breastfeeding a very hungry small person, by about 9 months. I realised it had all gone because I began feeling quite woozy and faint, and twigged that I'd used up all the reserves I'd put on during pregnancy!

TwllBach · 10/10/2015 22:21

Well I'm 12 weeks and already put half a stone on Sad

cathpip · 10/10/2015 22:26

I have surpassed myself this time, I have put on 7 stone.......ds did weigh 11.6lbs though :). I do suffer dreadfully with water retention, ds is now 8 weeks and I have lost 4 stone, will be back down to pre pregnancy weight by the time he's 6 months old as I did exactly the same with my 3 previous pregnancies.

CoffeeAndOranges · 11/10/2015 08:16

cathpip that's impressive and good to know that putting on a lot doesn't need to be a long haul job to lose. Amazing how much it varies from woman to woman. I got really down about week 25 when I realised I'd already put on the 'advised' amount of weight and felt like I was doing it all wrong but the midwife was spectacularly unbothered, said the bump was measuring fine (again this also seems a bit arbitrary). So I just resigned myself to whatever is the end result. It's all temporary and for a good cause. I know I haven't overeaten, am eating healthily most of the time so I'm not too concerned.

Seems that the foundations for weight gain are often set I tri 1 - many folks don't put on much because of constant spewing, whereas I found the only thing that stopped me feeling sick was munching crackers!

squidzin · 11/10/2015 08:24

I was weighing myself regularly for just the first 2 trimesters. I started out 9stone, then when I got to 10st10lb I stopped weighing myself.

It took 4 months breastfeeding a very hungry baby, to return to normal size, and I actually lost weight and was around 8st10lb but then I stopped weighing mysrlf and have no idea now. DS is 10mo.

VenusVanDamme · 11/10/2015 08:31

Put on about 2.5 stone (tiny, under 4lb baby) but was incredibly swollen so think it was mainly water. Was back in pre-pregnancy jeans within a few days but think that was due to DS being in SCBU for a few weeks so I wasn't really eating.

I then put weight on at the start of my mat leave as was eating junk during the day so went back to gym when DS was 7 months and was back below pre-pregnancy weight within a few weeks.

AdorabeezleWinterpop · 11/10/2015 08:41

I have been a dress size smaller after each pregnancy.
DC1 - 12 before and 10 around 12 weeks pp
DC 2 - 10 before and 8 after
I am now 19 weeks with DC3 and have put on 10lbs. Hoping the trend will continue once he/she arrives! Breastfeeding has always made the weight fall off for me but have a feeling it might be harder this time!

blibblobblub · 11/10/2015 08:48

Was 9st 3 pre-pregnancy, put on just over a stone and half - was 10st 11 by the end.

Back to 9st 10 within a few days of giving birth and the rest came off within a matter of weeks (I wore pre-pregnancy jeans two weeks after giving birth).

I'm now around 8st 9 (had DD in May) - I put it completely down to bfing and carrying her in a sling everywhere, because I definitely haven't tried to get smaller! (Which does make it a bit awkward when people say "oooh you've got your figure back" because, well, I haven't really done anything, and I didn't put on much to begin with! It'll probably all go tits up when I'm back at work.)

ThreeFrazzledFandangos · 11/10/2015 08:55

Put on 1 stone 5lbs (combination of sickness and diabetes kept it down).

Lost 1stone 7lbs in 5 days, so I was slightly lighter than before. I was still a size 12 though.

Didn't lose anymore as my baby never slept and I just ate all the shit that id denied myself for 3 months as a gestational diabetic.
