Body changes & starting to show

I know everyone is different and no pregnancies are the same. But when do you really start to notice your body change and when do you start to show?
I'm 13 + 6 and about a size 16 so obviously I get i won't show this early as I have a bit of a belly. But through no fault I have lost 6 lbs in these first few weeks so in my head I'm thinking I should feel my tummy getting harder etc. I'm making myself a little paranoid and thinking is my baby growing. What are other people's experiences or answers. Any would be greatly appreciated.

For me, I really started showing with DC1 at 15 weeks. Was a size 12 then.
With this pregnancy I started at a size 8/10 and had a visible bump (prob mostly bloating!) by 8 weeks. Now, at 25 weeks, people are asking me if I'm due any day Blush

MrsPCR · 09/10/2015 23:47

People are noticing I'm pregnant at 16 weeks. Had a bump for good fortnight now but I started off as an 8/10 with a very short torso. I feel big for 16 weeks especially when people always said you won't show until 20 weeks....

Everyone is different though. If you google bump at X weeks, you will get a massive range in sizes.

blondiejess1982 · 09/10/2015 23:55

I posted earlier about this. The next person who says "you are THAT big at 15 weeks?!" Is likely to get a mouthful. Yes I am that big now shut the f* up. I am feeling paranoid about it and people forget to be sensitive.

Junosmum · 10/10/2015 07:40

I lost 8lbs in my fist trimester and have only just gai ed it back plus a few more now at 26 weeks so don't worry. I noticed a bump at about 14 weeks but no one else did until 18 weeks I think.

Katz · 10/10/2015 07:44

I lost a lot of weight in my first trimester dropping from a size 12/14 to a size 10. I finally told people I was pregnant at 20 weeks and was only just starting to show.

Bells2307 · 10/10/2015 07:44

I'm a size 16 but carry the weight in my arse and thighs!, my waist was small. I'm 10+5 with my first and my boss who knows warned me the other day I was starting to show Confused which I kind off suspected as only two pairs of trousers fit and my tops aren't baggy anymore! I'm already down to 3 very baggy tops I dare wear to work and have started to look on eBay for clothes. I certainly wasn't expecting anything like this for at least another 6-10wks!

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 10/10/2015 07:48

Not one person has noticed I'm
pregnant and I'm 22 weeks. I can only assume I'm dressing cleverly or something. I've read on here that most people start noticing at 26 weeks. I'm looking forward to it as right now I say I'm pregnant as part of a conversation and get met with a Hmm look.

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 10/10/2015 07:50

I have a stupidly long torso btw which I was told when carrying my son, was the reason I had a compact looking bump.

Me624 · 10/10/2015 08:13

I'm 19 weeks and it's only this week that people I haven't told have started noticing. Depends on what I'm wearing too, some outfits you can hardly tell still.

docmcstuffins1 · 10/10/2015 08:21

I'm 19 weeks. Have had a bit of a bump for a couple of weeks but really starting to show now. Not so much that people are brave enough to say anything though, so I must still look 'just a bit fat'.

toohardtothinkofaname · 10/10/2015 08:50

I was told that I looked pregnant & 'no longer just fat' at 25 weeks Hmm

babybat · 10/10/2015 09:50

I'm 23 weeks and have had a fairly distinct (to me, at least) bump since around 16 weeks. That said, depending on what I wear it doesn't always look very obvious; I think I'm still at the stage where people aren't sure if it's a bump or just that I need to lay off the pies.

bittapitta · 10/10/2015 10:06

I don't think your tummy gets "harder" as you've described, if you're over a size 8 anyway! I'm a size 12 and my weight always sticks to my tummy, in the third trimester my tummy isn't "hard" it's just more prominently baby-bump shaped. But definitely don't worry, assume you've had your first scan by now and before long you'll be moaning about achy hips and bashing into things with your bump!

Runningupthathill82 · 10/10/2015 10:53

Its different for everyone though, bitta - and from pregnancy to pregnancy. My belly is rock-solid now, at 25 weeks, like there's a bowling ball in there.
Whereas at 25 weeks with DS, I just looked podgier, and it definitely wasn't solid!

SunnyL · 10/10/2015 10:57

my first pregnancy I was a 14 and people just thought I was fat til I was 6 months.I'm pregnant again now (16w) and already my normal coat is straining at the seams. I look fat not pregnant Hmm

ComeLuckyApril · 10/10/2015 11:23

I'm a size 16 and 14 weeks pregnant today, first baby. I had a big belly before getting pregnant, so in all the photos I've taken so far I look exactly the same - I feel like I look pregnant, but I look exactly the same, weigh the same even, as I did at 4 weeks pregnant. I feel my belly area a lot, and in my head I feel like I can feel some hardness under the skin above the public bone and below the belly button, but my partner doesn't see what I mean so it could just be my imagination. And I can feel nice soft jiggly fat all around my belly as well!

I think anytime now though the uterus is rising up (I've lot of aches and pain around there suggesting it's stretching). And I had my scan 1 week ago so I know there is a baby in there somewhere! Presumably we'll get that bump soon. But it is frustrating!

Dachshund · 11/10/2015 08:16

This is my first pregnancy and I was quite surprised how long it took for me to 'show' TBH. I'd say it was really only by the third trimester that it was obvious to everyone and must have been 20 weeks before friends really noticed/commented.

I was about a 10/12 pre-pregnancy and lost 10Lbs in the first trimester so it was just a case of waiting for the bump.

I'm really short so now at 35 weeks I look like a beached whale (and constantly get asked if she's due tomorrow Hmm) as I'm ALL bump!

GlasgowPingu · 11/10/2015 12:31

I'm nearly 6ft (though the height is all in my legs so have a very short torso) and a size 14 and at 16+4 my shape hasn't changed at all (excepting the fact that my previously non-existent breasts are now mahoosive). Still haven't told work yet so it's probably just as well!

Heavenscent86 · 11/10/2015 13:54

I'm 15 weeks today and have a small but distinct bump but I suspect other people probably think I've just got a bit of a pot belly! I am very slim normally though and lost almost a stone through HG so not surprised I am showing a bit.

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 11/10/2015 14:31

I've just taken a photo of my bump do thought I could upload it. Nearly 23 weeks, due Feb, do I just look fat? No one has asked me if I'm pregnant so I'm assuming so!

Skiptonlass · 11/10/2015 18:50

My bump popped out massively at about 18 weeks. Dh was abroad with work and got quite the shock on his return

RugbyWidow7 · 11/10/2015 20:41

I'm 5.11 and a size 10 with a v long torso, I'm ten weeks I'm already really struggling to conceal my bump which is surprising considering how long I am! It is my third baby though so that could have something to do with it! Bump has definitely gone hard all of a sudden too.

CloudsofBrick · 12/10/2015 10:53

I'm short and a size 6-8. This is my second and I'm 9 weeks. I don't look pregnant but there's a thickening on my waist and a fair amount of bloating. It's noticeable on my small frame but people will most likely think I'm getting podgy. Already stretching out those work trousers with an elastic band lol.

Cgow · 12/10/2015 11:17

I was 26 weeks gone before I found out I was pregnant I had no bump at all and my tummy felt normal! I'm a size 10, 5'5 and my stomach remained as it was until I was 28 weeks then I woke up with a bump.. I only got "big" at about 33 weeks ... I was somehow hiding a healthy 8.5 pounder! I think everyone is different x

Louisee58 · 12/10/2015 11:35

i think it depends on the pregnancy to be honest, with DS I was a size 8 and 5ft....I was showing by 8 weeks but my sister who was 8 weeks ahead of me still wasn't showing (size 18 and 5ft 3)....now pregnant with second and at 7 weeks I could pass as being a lot further....still 5ft but size10/12.

I was wearing maternity jeans by 12 weeks with DS1.....I already can't fasten my jeans now this time.
