I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Haha Mop! Glad to hear so many of you are interested. The juice is the main attraction. It really helps my nausea. Has it helped anyone else's nausea?

LucindaE · 03/10/2015 22:28

I'm typing this in a hurry before those wretched advertisements come back, blocking the screen.
Reebok and spandau Really sorry that coke hurts on the way up. Was it ever OK, or has it become bad recently?
That is a shame; glad tinned pinapple is helping you, Reebok anyway.
MotherofPearl Glad fizzy water is helping you; some swear by soda water, too.
Ican't Are you still in hospital? I can't believe you have only been given a week's worth of meds. I do think the NHS in Wales is in a bad way, I'm living in Mid Wales these days. Sounds like good advice from sapndau.
bugista I like it; poor OH must be fed up with hearing that!
Apologies I've had to be rude and ignore people for the sake of brevity.
Waves to all.

lucinda yup still am, hopefully home Monday! Feel so good ATM but that's the joy of IV, just have to finish the antibx. The NHS here is truly shocking!
Hope all you ladies are okay x

MotherofPearl · 04/10/2015 09:13

I tried the pineapple after my Weetabix this morning. I enjoyed it and the juice is nice and thirst quenching, but didn't notice a specific impact on my nausea. Will persevere with it though.
Hope everyone having a tolerable morning. I'm trying to summon the energy to do a home hair colour. Grey roots out of control and obviously can't go to the hairdresser.

eallison88 · 04/10/2015 09:42

If the pineapple stays down, try peaches. I couldn't manage pineapple, and peaches didn't touch the nausea or anything like that, but reliably stayed down and helped keep constipation under control (as well as ketones, but that want always helpful when I needed to convince gps I was really ill!).

bugista · 04/10/2015 10:45

Good luck with the home hair colour, MoP! I managed to get a home haircut while I was at my worst - went from v long hair to just above my shoulders which was a total life saver as washing it was a nightmare - I'm sure if you explain the issue the hairdresser wil be sympathetic! xx

bugista · 04/10/2015 10:47

Ooh MoP I may have misunderstood, did you mean just colouring it yourself? Don't tire yourself out, greys aren't that bad!

Hope everyone else is doing ok this Sunday morning xx

LucindaE · 04/10/2015 11:19

Really sorry thatIcan't is still in hospital; I can't believe that the hospital talked of only one week's supply of meds - and that Spandau and others are suffering so badly.
I'm definitely being spammed; I've reported it to Mumsnet. I've just typed a long post, and suddenly the screen changed to a supposed threat to terminate my account if I didn't supply my privacy settings, and the post was lost.

shoopshoopsong · 04/10/2015 12:14

My hospital discharged me with just overbone week of meds but a letter to my GP saying what they prescribed so am really hoping on Monday I will be represcribed them by GP! Hopefully you'll at least get the same icant

lucinda I hope mumsnet get it sorted ASAP - we need you!

MotherofPearl · 04/10/2015 13:04

Thanks for the encouragement Bugista but have not managed to colour my hair. Having a bad day and can't seem to get out of bed. Awful headache too, I assume from the Ondan. Not risking lunch, just can't face anything.

Ems10000 · 04/10/2015 13:55

Hi ladies, attempted a swim this morning with dd and dh in an attempt to relieve the excruciating pain under my ribs. Didn't really work and my swimming costume has not been used for so long that I must have been using a different washing powder last time it was washed and smelling it has made me feel so ill. I've showered and changed since and can still smell it. My husband thinks I've lost the plot!!

Reebok · 04/10/2015 14:02

Hi all, sorry to hear some of you are feeling rubbish. So far, I'm having an ok day. Bits of nausea that I feed with pineapple but I'm hoping this is a sign of better days to come. I remember having days like this with dd. Had some wonderful news. My sister had her baby girl today. I think it's helping to put me in a better mood and it's a reminder of why I'm doing this. Little unfortunate that I won't be able to go and see her and baby until I'm better. She lives 3 hours away!

spandau1980 · 04/10/2015 14:31

Does pinapple stay down
Petrified it'll hurt x

Reebok · 04/10/2015 17:21

Spoke to soon. Bad bad nausea returned and I feel crap!

Spandau it stays down for me. Only thing guaranteed to stay down.

MotherofPearl · 04/10/2015 17:31

Ems, I sympathise about the laundry smell. Yesterday DP changed our bedsheets, and the smell of the clean covers really sickened me, much to his dismay.
Reebok, great news about the arrival of your sister's baby, that must have given you a boost. Sorry your good day ended in more nausea.
Spandau, I vomited up the pineapple, sadly, but it wasn't painful at all. With HG I always chew whatever food I try very well, mindful that it helps make the return journey, er, smoother.
I have had a really wretched day and just want it to be over.

shoopshoopsong · 04/10/2015 17:33

Sorry that didn't last long for you there Reebok, but congratulations for your sister's baby - I am obsessed with thinking of names at the moment to remember why I'm doing this and that helps keeping positive at the moment.
Also, I am obsessed with Costa's 'Coffee Coolers' at the moment.. Maybe something about the thick blended ice but it seems to stay down well and is my only reliable 'safe food' at the moment so thought I'd share incase works for anyone else

shoopshoopsong · 04/10/2015 17:38

Sorry you've had a wretched day MoP - I do the excessive chewing too. It's funny how we chose meals by their exit too isn't... Well I say funny ....

MotherofPearl · 04/10/2015 18:01

Thanks Shoop. Those Coolers sound pretty tempting. We have a Costa quite close by so if tomorrow is a better day I might venture out for one. Yes to focusing on names to stay positive! I have a list on my phone which I keep adding to and updating.

Reebok · 04/10/2015 18:13

Thanks Mop and Shoop. Unfortunately now baby is in neonatal as might have an infection. Poor sis had to have an emergency csection so she's not doing too well either.

Mop sorry you're having a rough day. How many weeks are you now?

Shoop thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately coffee makes me vom even when I'm not pregnant.
Can't seem to look forward at things like names. I keep waiting for something to go wrong again. I guess once you mc, it stays with you. Have another scan tomorrow - part of that study I joined and scared out of my mind!

Oh is annoying me today. As I didn't seem too bad this morning he hasn't been pitching in with dd...so this has probably made me worse.

spandau1980 · 04/10/2015 21:32

Hi shoop
Totally agree on worrying about reverse food :/
MoP sorry been a crap day
Reebok HG cruel trick -you think uv found something to help and pow it stops working
Sat here with chronic sick stomach ache trying not to throw :(

lemonslemonslemons · 05/10/2015 11:12

Hi :)

I found out yesterday that I am 4 weeks pregnant with DC2. I had hyperemesis with DC1 and I have been feeling nauseous since Tuesday with this one. I was sick on Weds when I tried eating meat, and I was sick just now at work, shhhh. I didn't start being sick with DC1 until week 7/8. Is this normal, is it ok? What do I do and when can I get medication?

I feel like a bit of a wreck at the moment. It is so new and, TBH, unexpected and now I feel exhausted and so so green around the gills.

TYIA

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 05/10/2015 11:16

Welcome lemons
I started the sickness very early with this one (dc2) was around 7 weeks with Ds1 and this time 4+5 so I think it does start earlier! So that's normal.
Regards to what meds etc the other lovely ladies will be able to help you better as I've had many problems getting them (even with 2 hyperemisis hospital admissions!)
Flowers

MotherofPearl · 05/10/2015 11:31

Welcome Lemons. Sorry the sickness has kicked in already. Mine kicked in at 5 weeks so don't worry that you're unusual. The advice for previous sufferers is to get onto cyclizine and B6 as soon as you find out that you're pregnant. Try to see your GP asap. And stick around on here, there's lots of support on offer.

Reebok · 05/10/2015 11:46

Welcome lemons. Sorry to hear the sickness kicked in already. Mine started at 6w. I second what Mop says about getting on meds quickly.

At hospital for extra scan. Feel sick to my stomach today and just want to be in bed. Hope everyone else is having a better day.

MotherofPearl · 05/10/2015 12:00

Reebok, good luck for your scan. Hope all is well.
In answer to your question yesterday, I'm 9 weeks today, according to the dating provided by my early scan. Really hoping for some improvement over the next few weeks.
