I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

BarmeeMarmee · 14/09/2015 12:06

Been passed round from pillar to post over the phone this morning. Now been told to go to A&E who may or may not decide to scan me. Waiting for confirmation from my line manager that I'm ok to go then will be out of here!

bugista · 14/09/2015 12:35

I'm so sorry it's so difficult Barmee! Really hope you get a scan soon and you can put your mind at rest x

spandau1980 · 14/09/2015 12:35

Why do you need a scan hun x

Heavenscent86 · 14/09/2015 12:55

Awww Barmee. That's such a stressful situation to be in. I can't believe they are making it so difficult. Do keep us posted on how things go.
Lucinda my course is an analytical science course which basically means I'll be studying the techniques used in things like diagnosing infectious disease, dating skeletons, calculating the amount of protein etc in a food product. There's loads more to it than that but until I start studying it I'm not completely sure what.

MotherofPearl · 14/09/2015 12:55

Barmee, your work are dreadful! Fancy having to wait to ask permission to go to A&E when you're in your state. So hope you get a scan and that all is well.

spandau1980 · 14/09/2015 13:05

Just walk out !

BarmeeMarmee · 14/09/2015 13:22

Just wanted to cover myself as HR are being so awkward at the moment. Have left and texted and emailed my manager to let her know what is happening. She'll be fine to be fair. Waiting for my train now and hopefully DH will meet me at the other end.

spandau1980 · 14/09/2015 13:28

Good girl.!
Fingers crossed all is well. You are more important xx

BarmeeMarmee · 14/09/2015 13:47

Somehow I have a funny feeling. I don't know, maybe I'm making myself paranoid... Ah well, I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Heavenscent86 · 14/09/2015 13:55

Have you had any more bleeding Barmee? If it was only a little bit fingers crossed it is all ok. Some people can have a lot of bleeding in pregnancy and still be ok apparently.

spandau1980 · 14/09/2015 14:39

Friend of mine had bad bleeding and clots but now has a bouncing baby boy x

Heavenscent86 · 14/09/2015 16:18

My nausea is kicking in badly now. So tired of being sick.

Reebok · 14/09/2015 16:24

Sorry to hear you're having a tough day Barmee. Fx for you.

Heaven I'm feeling the same. I've gone back into cyclizine on top of the ondasetron as it just wasn't enough these past few days. Hoping it will help. Had a nap because I'm just so exhausted...not able to sleep at night and it's not even sickness keeping me up. My body just feels so sore and I can't stay in one position for long especially as I'm sleeping upright. I had a snack before the nap as suggested the other day but I've still woken up feeling nauseous. Can't get up. Just feeling awful. Oh how much more of this...

Heavenscent86 · 14/09/2015 16:41

I don't know how much more I can take.

Freshbreadandfaith · 14/09/2015 16:44

Congrats lilac!!
So sorry reebok :( it really does feel like your body is being poisoned and your life is on hold with hg :( your oh must surely be aware of the extent of what you're feeling? Have you been able to have a heart to heart?
Re constipation I was so desperate that I stopped my zofran for a day and by the evening I was hurling up everything that I tried to swallow and had a migraine, I literally hurled like 52 times in a few hours. Tried to nap but felt horrendous after so I'm back on the zofran (ondansetron) and blocked up again..... Still on hols in France so in desperation went to a pharmacy, they gave me some herbal looking powder that helps move things along, some suppositories just in case... Everything in French but she assured me that it was fine for pregnant ladies... and I bought a bottle of prune juice!!!!

Reebok · 14/09/2015 16:49

Flowers heaven ....even just the nausea alone is so debilitating. Completely takes it out of you.

fresh I've given up with him. This weekend he tried a bit more but was still a prat at times when he got annoyed with dd and there I was laying in bed the whole time staring into space. I don't think he will ever get it and doesn't appreciate what I'm having to go through to give him another child.
How many weeks are you? Don't know how you're doing it... a holiday! I can't seem to get out of bed and haven't been outside since I came home from the hospital on Wednesday. Oh kept trying to get me to come for a walk on the weekend but I couldn't do it. Enjoy the rest of your break away.

How's everyone else getting on?

LucindaE · 14/09/2015 16:51

Cyber hugs to Heaven and all those who are suffering badly. Barmee I am disgusted with your workplace; I just so hope you can get a scan soon.
Freshbread Glad something worked.
Waves to all.

Hi everyone,

I feel I'm doing slightly better as I am managing to eat greasy food and drink coke.

Still can't handle water though, I had a teeny sip today then threw up in a plastic bag in the car.

Also if I don't attempt to eat every few hours the sickness/poisoned feeling starts again, it's a vicious circle for everyone I'm sure.

Reebok sorry your husband isn't being more supportive. My OH is being nice but I don't think he is taking me seriously when I say this will be an only child. There is no way I will ever do this again, ever!

spandau1980 · 14/09/2015 18:13

Ha ha you will xx you forget it all !!! Til the positive pregnancy test then you remember :/

Freshbreadandfaith · 14/09/2015 18:57

Reebok I'm nearly 15 weeks. I'm on ondesartan twice a day plus avamine at night, my sickness worst time tends to be in the evening, last pregnancy I was on different Meds and throwing up from week six until week 19, this time I started throwing up from week 5 and still being sick on Meds but not as often as I am without Meds. We only decided four days before our holiday to go for it, we weren't sure right up until then coz I was so ill and housebound, but it involved a ferry ride and four hour drive then the opportunity to lie down as much as I wanted once here so we tried it, plus I has just received really bad news about the baby so thought a change of scenery might do me good. I know how you feel though believe me, people just don't understand when they haven't experienced it, in my first pregnancy I had such unhelpful comments from colleagues and not happy about me taking time off work, it's so hard Reebok, here for you in thoughts and prayer x

spandau1980 · 14/09/2015 19:44

Fresh bread ...... what bad news about baby hun xx
Glad you made it out there and hope you enjoy some of the holiday x

Reebok · 14/09/2015 20:46

Thanks thisisnow. Glad you're doing slightly better. How many weeks are you?

Thank you fresh. Sorry to hear you've had bad news. Will keep you in my prayers, alongside the rest of my hg family.

Spandau, how have you gotten on with Meds?

Really suffering from the heartburn and reflux. On 300mg ranitidine a day and it doesn't seem to touch it. My doctor won't prescribe omneprozole until second trimester. Anyone ever had a higher dose of ranitidine?

beehappybe · 14/09/2015 20:57

hello ladies, sorry to hear many of you are having such a rough time. I think my sickness is not as bad as some described here though at 15 weeks I still feel nauseous most of the day and "only" throw up two or three times, some days only once (yey!). Anyway, I though I will share this- a friend told me the other day on the phone when I was complaining about how annoying and incapacitating this whole nausea and sickness is:

It has been proven by some Canadian research study that babies from mums that were sick in pregnancy are smarter than those from mums that weren't.

Now obviously I have no proof, it's just one of those "she said that she said" but I must say it had made me feel good for a day so I choose to believe it to make myself feel better when I am yet again hugging the toilet bowl...Smile

elizabethsmum · 14/09/2015 21:19

Hi everyone sorry- only just found new thread. Phone kept throwing me off mumsnet, then realised finally that app was down! Have read some of the thread in haste- firstly huge congrats to lilac, wonderful news am so happy for you!
To all those of you hanging in there, the fabled pink castle is in sight ladies.
to all newbies sorry you are suffering, hg is rubbish, we have all been there and here to hand hold, commiserate and generally provide tlc and advice -promise to be around more now!
motherofpearl hope iv has done the trick, how did the scan go?
barmee hope you have managed to get a scan organised? Although worrysome, bleeding is by no means all bad news. Many times it can be a small implantation bleed, particularly if red blood and fairly short-lived. Keeping everything crossed for you.
waves to lucinda and everyone
Xx

Those struggling with constipation... another thing to try... I've done this hypnobirthing course and one of the things you do is learn and practice three different types of breathing for labour (calm breathing, surge breathing and birthing breathing). The teacher said to practice the birthing breathing when you have a poo - closest thing to pushing baby out. Anyway, with the practicing I noticed that I hold my breath when pushing (as it were) -once I started breathing out slowly as pushing things moved a lot easier. Might be worth a try, every little helps!!

And it wasn't me that was organised fir the wedding, it was (of course) wonderful hubby!
