Clues that Labour is just around the corner........

Other than the obvious engagement, nesting, the Strong Braxton Hicks, the show etc.......are there any clues that you have experienced that Labour could be just around the corner.....

Only I am full term now, baby is NOT engaged, I have had no show, baby is more active than ever, (is even turning from cephalic position!)I certainly am NOT nesting, and feel the same as I did at 30 weeks!!!!

I think I'll start on the curries and nipple tweaking!

As a midwife I would advise NOT to take castor oil - it is bad enough having labour pains without the discomfort of having to go to the toilet every 5 minutes.
Try not to hurry things along - enjoy these last few days of peace and quiet. Stock up on sleep instead - you'll need it

Joe1 · 05/05/2002 17:22

Who would want to take castor oil anyway, I would rather wait. Good luck kicsr

Still waiting.......!!
I think I'll spend the day lazying around!

Glad to hear there are plenty of other impatient mums. I'm now one day over due date, went 8 days with the last with no signs but had to have CS due to breach so still don't know when this baby will make an appearance. Been told sex works, but not for me, getting into a comfortable position is enough to make you want to go into labour. Wish there was some easy option.

Demented · 15/05/2002 22:39

Too true AllyWB, by the time I have been up and down to the loo and for a slug of Gaviscon etc. Just getting comfy in bed is enough effort for me! As for nipple tweeking, I think there is going to be enough going on in that department soon enough with a hungry baby!!!

Way off the point, but I can't help thinking of Tony Blair when I see the title of this tread....

After adding my last message thought I'd try pineapple, so drove myself to all night Tesco bought a pineapple and ate it all at 10.30pm.
7.30am next morning first sign of labour, 10.00am 9cm dilated, baby born 11.45am - the best thing is I don't even like pineapple but it is easier to eat than another night of being pregnant. Maybe worth a try!!

WideWebWitch · 19/05/2002 19:44

Congratulations Ally

Marina · 19/05/2002 20:40

Gosh AllyWB, that has to be one of the briefest new arrival announcements I've seen here. Had to read it twice to see if you'd actually had your baby. Congratulations!

Demented · 19/05/2002 22:25

Many congratulations AllyWB! Will bear the pineapple in mind sounds easier to cope with than sex!!!

My baby has finally arrived too!!

(However sex, curries and pineapples failed to help!) I was induced!

I had a little girl and I am waiting for someone to pinch me and awaken me because she is so perfect its surreal!
