Induction...your thoughts?

Hi ladies,

Currently booked in to have induction on Tuesday at 39+2 due to baby's growth as she is slightly on the smaller side & she hasnt grown much since 36 week scan. Consultant thinks it would be best to induce me rather than leave her be. I'm soooo nervous but of course excited too.

Would like to hear your experiences etc

Thanks!

Xx

Cloe - yes we have the same due date. I had three attempted sweeps but none of them worked. Good luck for tomorrow - hope it goes smoothly.

It seems not many people have had experience of this way of inducement, I think another name is Foley catheter was hoping to hear some positive stories

BreeVDKamp · 12/07/2015 08:47

I was induced. Took a couple of hours to get going but then went from 2cm to delivery in 40 mins. Was fab!

Good luck today Cloe..glad you had a good night sleep. Keep us updated when you can.

They tried and couldn't get the catheter in. I've now got the 24hr propess pessary in. It's been a rollercoaster of a morning from thinking I'm going home to now staying in x

Oh bless you! Hope everything ok. I'm now counting down the days/hours until i go in. X

I was talking to my SIL yesterday, she was induced with my niece, she was started off on a Sunday and didn't have the baby until the Tuesday.. that would be my worst nightmare, worse than going to 100mph from 0! Confused

WiIdfire · 12/07/2015 18:06

Sorry to hear the catheter didnt work Cloe! Hopefully the pessary will do the job. Let us know!
My plan is to call them tomorrow and then go in to start the process. However, I haven't discussed it with anyone yet so don't know what method they use - the info leaflet covers all the options! I'm hoping for a pessary then home to wait for action, but we'll see.

I'm interested to hear about the different speeds of labour after induction - and whether they were first or subsequent babies. Natural first labours are usually longer, so are induced first labours longer?

I was told to expect to be in hospital for a few days. I went in on the Friday morning and aimed to be home by the Tuesday! I definitely didn't expect to give birth less than 12 hours after going arriving!
I was worried about the induction because of all the negative stories online but in real life, everyone I spoke to who had ever been induced was very positive about it. I was discharge the following evening, 24 hours after having him xx

I had the propess and it worked , had my waters broken the next morning and was put on the drip , I laboured 6 hours pushed for 20 mins and now have a beautiful baby boy , I would give birth every day the feeling was wonderful
