I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

I have had bad day. Cannot keep anything down. Don't know how to get to Monday to ask/beg for ondansetron. Have never felt as bad. So hungry but everything coming back

chopsface · 04/07/2015 22:39

Sorry to hear you're unwell today mirabel how are you doing with fluids? Especially in this warm weather too. Hope you can manage to keep something down tomorrow. Thinking of you x

Melleebacca · 04/07/2015 22:43

Mirabal - you can do this. If you still feel absolutely atrocious in the morning and are not keeping any fluids or foods down, please go to the hospital. Ketones are present in high amounts in your urine after about 24hrs of total sickness. They will give you fluids and they can give you ondansetron via IV as well. That will get you though to Monday.

You're doing amazing.

LucindaE · 05/07/2015 10:34

Mirabel So sorry to hear you felt so bad yesterday - as others say, do watch out if you're not retaining liquids. My usual pesky question; have you got kesostix to test or is there a chemists open where you can get them?
How are things today? How are ice cubes, frozen flat coke, ice lollies staying down?
eallison I must be being obtuse - I thought you said your nephew is as old as you are, but was sitting on your knee! Grin
mygreeneyedboy Good news so far, then.
Waves to Amy and everyone.

Thanks everyone. Think yesterday was worst day of my life so far and felt like I was in real trouble and very weepy . Have kept down little bit today but think I will defo get some kesostix. Yesterday I think I vomited up meds twice so partly why so bad. Your messages very much appreciated x

LucindaE · 05/07/2015 13:30

Mirabel Glad you are not quite so ill today. If you can't get hold of the sticks, other symptoms, which you probably know about, of denydration are a headache, blurry vision, skin that only slowly goes back after a pinch, and of course, the scanty dark urine or not being able to pass any at all. If you've got these it's the best thing to report to A and E for fluids, particularly in this hot weather when everyone's sweating anyway. I swore by flat coke (sometimes made into ice cubes) the juice of tinned fruit and jelly for rehydrating. A lot find fizzy water or soda water better than tap water, but it sounds yesterday as if no fluids would stay put. Do keepus informed.

mirabel gentle hugs and I really hope you are managing to hold on today. please do try to get an emergency appointment tomorrow and get some ondansetron.

When it's really bad, just try to get through the next five minutes ... the next two minutes even. It -does- get better, even if it is hard to believe now Flowers

kayme · 05/07/2015 17:17

Mirabal poor you I feel for you I'm remember it well from previous pregnancy's. You know your self if your really ill you need to get looked after. If it continues hospital can make you feel so much better, it also can break the cycle of sickness.
I was lucky and had a good day yesterday felt sick but managed to carry on. I was really pleased that I made it out early evening to watch my son's in the carnival this is the first time in weeks. Today is another matter been rough since I woke up have spent all day lying down.
It's really silly but when I managed to leave the house in the yesterday late afternoon evening I bumped into someone from work. I have been signed off for the end part of the day at work because that's when I start going downhill. I hope they don't say anything at work.
My Due date is 28th January.

Jessybxox · 05/07/2015 17:20

Right I really need some help I really don't know what to do anymore. I got diagnosed or thrush Thursday (3days ago) and they gave me and canisten duo cream I did the insert cream and I've been putting on the eternal cream but when ever I do this it stings and is agonising, so I tryied using a cream called cetraben this seems to sooth but only when I am sitting still. I can't sleep as anytime I try and move it's agonising I can't walk or do anything the area outside is very red and sore and swollen I feel like this has got worst since I started using the canastin cream and the internal infection seems to still be there as I'm still getting runny white like discharge that offen smells I really don't know what to do I'm in agony can't move from my bed what can I do...!
I'm not pregant and only 17 and I wasn't sure how to make my own chat so sorry about comming on this one

eallison88 · 05/07/2015 17:47

Totally meant as old as I am pregnant!!

eallison88 · 05/07/2015 17:49

jessy get yourself back to the docs and say caneston did nothing, there's stronger stuff they can prescribe.

Meerka · 05/07/2015 19:08

Hello jessy ... as ealli said, the doctor is the only one who can help here. Good luck.

kayme · 05/07/2015 19:43

Jessybxox poor you sounds very painful. Like the others say go to the doctors or if you can't get to the doctors you could maybe speak to a pharmacist you can ask to speak in private. You could be allergic to the cream, or maybe it's not thrush and needs a different treatment. It's nothing to be embarrassed about as it happens to everyone but you do seem to be very uncomfortable with it so definitely go back to speak to someone. If it's that bad tonight you might be able to find an out of hours pharmacy.

Ems10000 · 05/07/2015 22:40

Hi ladies, feeling very fed up although my sickness has stopped apart from the odd evening. I'm exhausted but can't get comfy in bed and seem to be up all the time needing a wee! Got another 19 weeks so it's only going to get worse! My hips are very sore and tender to touch, never had anything like this in my last pregnancy. Does anyone else feel that although the mess are great you feel in s constant fog (sorry only way I can describe it!). I just want to feel me again and have a bit of energy, I think I'm just having a bad day, sorry ladies - I know that there are those suffering a lot more than me and I've come a long way since those early weeks...

Ems10000 · 05/07/2015 22:40

That should say meds not mess!

eallison88 · 06/07/2015 06:45

I too am exhausted most of the time and can't very comfy no matter how I try to sit. I cam sort of manage to get comfy if lying in bed. But sitting anywhere is nightmare - cars are my biggest enemy!

LucindaE · 06/07/2015 08:38

Jessy Hello, just adding my sympathy; if the creams aren't working, they can give you tablets (a friend of mine had them). Also, heat makes it worse; in this hot weather, try to wear a long skirt if you can so you can go knickerless; that really helps, but as everyone says, a return trip to the doctor is the only thing and they certainly won't think you are making a fuss if the creams haven't had an effect.
Mirabel You may well be in hospital. Hope you are feeling better, whether at home or admitted.
EMS and ealllison Sympathies about all these discomforts. I wonder if physio might not help with the hip pains? It does take a long time to get over Hyperemesis, but maybe the fog in the head is a combination of 'baby brain' and the meds?
KaymeI am sorry, I had your name written down too! If you were having a better day and saw someone when you were out, it must have been embarrassing, but after all, the doctor wouldn't give you a sick note for nothing.
eallison Now I understand! Grin

Just had a break down at docs. She told me the guidelines for whole area are not to prescribe ondansetron, I would only get if in hospital. She will double check but I think it was just to get the woman having a massive crying fit out of her office. The last straw was asking me if I had tried ginger. Despite having discussed two minutes before that I had tried all other meds.

I'm desperate now. So hard to drag my bottom up to docs and for nothing.

Has anyone had any good experiences going private for help?

ems I know exactly what you mean by fog, I felt that way at least my last three months before. Looking back though and speaking to my family they were all quite sure I had antenatal depression. If I feel like it again I'm going to tell doc or midwife and see if anything can be done. Pregnancy is horrible isn't it. Flowers hope you can find your way out of it.

Mrsm14 · 06/07/2015 11:34

Gosh it has been busy on here in the last few days! mirabal sorry you're having such a tough time. Is it possible you might need to go to hospital if you're not keeping anything down? When I was admitted last weekend I was then given a load of drugs to take home so if you really need help it might be worth going and you would finally get the drugs you need.

I'm doing quite well now on stemetil so haven't tried the phenergen as yet. Taking 3 x stemetil a day and stopped being sick, apart from after car journeys yesterday. Still nauseous on and off but def not as bad. The only ongoing problem though is that I have totally lost my appetite and still struggle to find food I can eat. I have managed to introduce a bowl of bran flakes in the morning but other than that am living on orange squash, biscuits and water crackers. I've lost 5lbs in the last week but almost all foods still turn my stomach. Does this improve over time? I absolutely love my food normally!

What an idiot I am, to type that number wrong at such a time! Do please, ring 024 7638 2020. You will have to leave a message, but they have helped lots of women on these threads get Ondansetron. The retired doctor on there is said to be brilliant.

Yeah my doctor ran through all treatments when I saw him last week and ondansetron wasn't on the list, so guessing same here. But surely hospitals can still administer, even if GP can't? Or does it go for hospitals too?

Meerka · 06/07/2015 13:22

I'll agree that Dr Tony at the PSS is brilliant.

Hospitals can administer it mrsM, im sure. The problem is that some doctors at surgeries can't, probably due to price :(
