I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

I've been using my Los toothpaste. Helps with the gag reflex.

I guess you're right lucinda. Very angry at dh today. He was out all night so sleeping all day today so not been helping me with dd. I yelled at him because he promised if we tried again, he would look after dd as I would be unable to. And he hasn't held up his end of the agreement. He thinks because I went on the meds early, I should be fine and as I'm not as bad as last time I shouldn't need help. If anything though, I may not be throwing up as much as last time but the nausea is worse and working with a LO. So I'm finding it much harder. I know I should just be grateful to be pregnant again after last time but I'm just fed up and only 7 weeks in.

Heavenscent86 · 05/09/2015 17:54

Motherofpearl congratulations on your BFP. That's great news.
I'm having a bad day today. Terrible nausea and the sickness has started up again badly after a few days break. Gutted.
Hope everyone else is managing ok this weekend.

LucindaE · 05/09/2015 17:57

Reebok I'm not surprised you're cross with him.
Peach A very good idea; there are a lot to try, and combinations which I believe work better than just one, though Meerka is the one who knows all about this.
I know she has posted this in the past:

'cyclizine (old fashioned anti-histamine; can make you sleepy). Good with vitamin B6.
Metoclopramide (empties the stomach faster, less to upchuck)
Domperidone (similar)
Prochlorperazine (stemetil/Avomine) (works on your sense of balance; also a travel remedy; can be good for some people).
Promethazine (called Phenergan)(stronger old fashioned anti-histamine, also sleepy-making)
Ondansetron (the strongest and the strongest and many people find the best, but causes constipation, but causes constipation).

so promethazine is similar to cyclizine but stronger.'

Welcome back to Elizabethsmum. Twins at school, amazing. I remember you called in at one of these threads when suffering.
Meerka So you see, I have kept your info.

Heavenscent I hope it's just a glitch, you poor thing. Hugs.

I hope so too. I seem to have missed so much on this thread so apologies if I have missed anything important. When I feel a bit better I'll try to catch up again.

MotherofPearl · 05/09/2015 19:09

Reebok, that is very frustrating behaviour from your DH. Sorry you've had a horrible day. He really needs to be looking after your LO at the weekends so that you can get the all-important rest you need.
Heaven, sorry to hear you've had some bad days. It's so dispiriting because I think when you have a few good days you dare to hope that you may have 'turned a corner', and then when the sickness returns you feel even worse. Hopefully you'll soon see some improvement.
Thanks again to everyone for the good wishes. Obviously apart from my DP nobody else knows, so it's great to be able to come on here to share the news with all of you lovely ladies. So far I'm still feeling OK, but a little nausea in the late afternoon, traditionally my worst time. Still very early days I guess. DP tried 2 different pharmacies today to try to get me some cyclizine (saying it was for travel sickness) but both said prescription only. I've made a GP appointment but the soonest they can fit me in is the end of September! Confused
Hope everyone else has had a reasonable day. The end is in sight for Ealli, Lilac, and I think Mellee not far behind? Nice to have you back ElizMum; hope the start of school went smoothly for your LOs.

Reebok · 05/09/2015 20:15

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well heaven.

I feel like I'm dying. I was managing initially with just being sick in morning and evenings....but it's getting worse. I think I've been sick 7 times so far today. Bad heart burn. Nausea all day. I can't think of one moment where I've felt ok all day.

Hope everyone else is managing ok.

LucindaE · 05/09/2015 20:24

Reebok Oh dear, you poor thing. Mother Hen is worried about dehydration, as ever...

It's starting to feel a lot like my pregnancy with dd. I feel like my body has been taken over by an alien. Can't afford not to go work next week....childcare to pay for. And my boss is being mean again. How am I going to cope teaching 30 kids while feeling this awful?

Meerka · 05/09/2015 20:41

oh no reebok, your husband really needs to step up. Rest, rest, rest is the other thing (than meds) which help. It's impossible to deal with a lively little one when you're that ill.

If it's any help, in the UK pregnancy related sickness does NOT count on your sickness record, under the Equal Opportunities Act.

Melleebacca · 05/09/2015 20:54

MoP - congratulations! You're so brave for doing this again, and I've got my fingers crossed for you that it goes better this time around. I can't believe your doctor won't see you for weeks though! Fortunately in NZ, if I ring before lunch, I'm pretty much guaranteed an appointment that day.
Reebok - what meds are you on? Try not to worry about money, your health is so much more important.

I'm currently 33w and feeling it. I have heartburn/acid reflux most evenings and it's causing me to feel more pukey. Holding back on the vom so far, but have had a couple of puke in mouth and swallow incidents. So glad to only have 4 days left at work.

Hope everyone is managing well. I purposely face away from hubby in bed because I can't handle his morning breath. At times the mild toothpaste is too much and I just have to stick to rinsing with mouthwash to help my teeth. Not looking forward to seeing the dentist at the end of the year!

Reebok · 05/09/2015 21:02

Mellee I'm on cyclizine. It only really works on me when administered through iv. Have resorted back to ice lollies like I did in my last hg pregnancy. Soothes the heart burn slightly.
Meerka that's the thing, last time my boss recorded it as normal sickness although I pointed that out to her but I was too unwell to fight her.

Melleebacca · 05/09/2015 23:24

Reebok - I was never on cyclizine, but if it's only working on IV, you may need to try something stronger.

Heavenscent86 · 06/09/2015 08:59

Reebok I hope you are feeling a little better this morning. Do try to see if you can get something a bit stronger than the cyclizine. It doesn't sound as if that is working for you.

Meerka · 06/09/2015 09:55

Does it make you sleepy? If not, you could ask the doctor for promethazine. It's similar but stronger. It could be good if you maybe ask him to try prochlorperazine (aka avomine, buccastem) with it

LucindaE · 06/09/2015 11:32

Reebok I so agree with others on here, it sounds as if you are too ill to work and certainly it looks as if you need stronger meds. About the nasty boss and the way she had you down as having normal sick leave last time: Are you in a union? They could help. Also, one of the links above could advise about the legal situation of pregnancy related illness and current legislation, but so hard to speak when you are on the verge of puking all the time, I know. I so agree about ice lollies. I found ice cubes, and flat coke frozen as ice cubes good, too).
Melleebacca That sounds really nasty. Thank goodness you are coming up to your sick leave. Did you say you work in a lab?
Meerka Great advice, as ever.
Normally, I would only start a new thread when we got to the Only Room for Twenty Posts Situation, but because I'm going to go away for a couple of days, I am going to open a new thread in a moment, so that there's no danger of there being no functioning Hyperemesis Support thread with all the one thousand posts used up.
Back asap....

Hi ladies, just wanted to let you know that sadly I did lose the baby. I struggled to get pregnant in the first place, apparently after a pregnancy fertility levels are higher I'm hoping to try again in the next few months if everything is OK. So weirdly I'm hoping to be back on this forum again sometime, I always get horrendous hyperemesis in pregnancy and I hate it but I hated losing the baby more so I guess it has all given me a different perspective. I also wanted to thank you all for supporting me through my sickness and bad news and wanted to wish you all the best and hopefully if I ever am back needing hyperemesis support, hopefully this thread will still be going being used by people who need help and support xxxx
