I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Reebock hoping ng for the best for you.

Confused that is unbelievable. Hope the CEO sends a rocket up HR arse. Wish this wasn't happening it's the last thing you need.

Pumping all drugs are considered pretty safe or they would not risk giving them . for historical reasons no company will guarantee it but the ones used now are considered safer than dehydration. Metoclopramide you have to be careful for the mother & side effects but they are easily spotted. Ondan is considered the most effective.

Hooping everyone else is OK. Sorry for bad typing terrible device & poor connection

elizabethsmum · 17/07/2015 19:59

virtual hand holding reebok - although blood is red, by no means necessarily a definite mc - May just be an implantation bleed which I see a lot in the course of my job as a sonographer. none the less very worrying for you as you have obv been through mc before. hg is usually a fairly reassuring sign in itself that all is well if that's any reassurance. how many weeks are you and have you actually been offered an epau scan? (you should definitely be offered one as you are bleeding).

lilac glad stemetil helping- it took the edge off nausea for me also.

colostrum leakage at 31 weeks sounds pretty normal- I think I had it from about 25 weeks.

mrsm usually very difficult to listen in with Doppler before 15 weeks- even for professionals, as not reassuring and can cause more anxiety if unable to find heartbeat.

elizabethsmum · 17/07/2015 20:02

pumping if you are struggling then please ask for some alternative meds from Dr, that's what they are there for. if you are unable to eat and drink and at risk of dehydration then that is far more risky than the benefit of taking meds - which are incredibly safe x

LilacWine7 · 17/07/2015 20:30

Reebok very sorry to hear that. Hope you're ok and the bleeding turns out to be a false alarm. Thinking of you.

MrsM I remember my midwife saying they don't usually listen to heartbeat with doppler before 24weeks, as it can be tricky to find.
About underwear, I remember going to Debenhams bra dept around 14weeks when I was feeling very queasy, ended up retching into my sick-bag while in the cubicle trying them on Blush I ended up buying lots of expensive maternity bras but TBH didn't find them very comfortable, they felt cumbersome and heavy... and within a few weeks my breasts had grown so much the new bras didn't fit! So I went to TKMax and bought some cheap stretchy sports bras, far more comfortable and supportive (and nice to sleep in as no fastenings to dig in). I've gone up from sizeM to XL since then, so I'd recommend not spending too much on bras!

Mirabel hope the ondansetron works for you. I'd give it a few days to take effect before stopping the Phenargen, just in case.

Just spoke to my friend who's a doctor about combinations of meds, she looked it up and said not to take Stemetil with metoclopramide as apparently the risk of side-effects increases if you combine them (coordination problems, twitchiness etc). She said Stemetil with Phenergan is fine, or Metoclopramide with Phenergan, but not Metoclopramide and Cyclizine together! Which is odd because obstetrician put me on that combination, I only stopped Cyclizine because I was feeling better Confused So I guess my options are limited to Metoclopramide with Phenergan for now.

eallison88 · 17/07/2015 22:54

reebok I hope it's an implantation bleed, which isn't unusual.

The heel in crotch trick works well but as I've got bigger and in more pain with the spd it's become too difficult to manage the position. Today I knew I had a few mins before I sick so preemptive wee... still manage to vomit such that I wet myself - minutes after emptying my bladder. How ridiculous!!!

The lady just given ondansetron (sorry, can't remember who); give it a day or so to kick in. I had to build up to quote a high dose (well, the highest you're allowed) initially to control the nausea and sickness, but it made such a difference for me. I'm just very glad you've been given it.

MotherofPearl · 17/07/2015 23:49

Reebok, so sorry to hear about the bleeding and hope you're OK. x

Laura7010 · 18/07/2015 10:51

pumping I'm the same as mrsm cyclizine didn't help me but stemetil does. I can function at a much better level now and feel so much more human!
reebok I hope all is ok.
Hope everyone else is doing ok today.

chopsface · 18/07/2015 13:05

Reebok I hope you're OK hun x

Feeling tired and sicky today. Don't know where this has come from as I've been really well this week apart from late evening nausea. Got bil and fil down today boarding the attic, my lie down on the bed rudely interrupted by asking what shite we'd stashed up there they could tip. Gone down to my reflexology session now, am super early so boiling to death in my car currently! I will either come out feeling great or worse, sometimes the 'bad stuff' has to come up first before I can feel better, joy! Oh I went to the GP the other day about my breathlessness. She dismissed it as me being unfit from all the lolling on the sofa I'd been doing whilst off sick. She must have had a change of heart though as I get a call from the reception yesterday asking me to book in for a blood test! Got that next weds.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend as much as possible ladies x

MotherofPearl · 18/07/2015 18:53

Chops, don't like the sound of your GP's attitude to the breathlessness but hopefully the blood tests show they've decided to take you seriously after all. Confused
Gone very quiet on here. Hope everyone is coping OK today. Waves to all.

elizabethsmum · 18/07/2015 20:49

chops hope your reflexology session helped- I had some sessions in first pg out of desperation - not sure if they helped but certainly relaxing anyway! breathlessness could be a sign of anaemia so glad go has had a change of heart!

Hope everyone surviving. waves to all!!

Reebok · 18/07/2015 21:25

Thanks everyone. Bleeding on and off today. Mild pain that comes and goes. Been sat with my feet up all day while hubby looks after the little one. He's been fab. Will know more on Monday but not holding on to any hope. I've miscarried before and had hg. Hg did not go until I had a erpc that time so sickness doesn't mean much to me. Will let you all know. Hope everyone is feeling as ok as they can x

elizabethsmum · 18/07/2015 22:21

(((hugs))) reebok. thinking of you and hope all settles down soon. glad you've got your feet up, your dh sounds like a total star. keeping everything crossed for you xx

MotherofPearl · 18/07/2015 23:06

Thinking of you Reebok. The uncertainty must be awful; I really feel for you. Flowers

Meerka · 19/07/2015 20:53

Reebok thinking of you

. Chops glad your doc is arranging a blood test.

Ealli sorry the SPD is so bloody awful still.

Wishing everyone a low sickness evening.

BarmeeMarmee · 19/07/2015 21:04

It's quiet on here today. Hope it means that people are having a good day. Reebok have been thinking of you.

Wondering why I ever "wished" I was feeling sick. The nausea has been horrendous today. I still haven't been sick but I almost think I'd feel better if I was.

chopsface · 19/07/2015 21:46

Man I'm tired. In laws been here all weekend doing the attic, well dad and bro in law. Dust and muck everywhere. So I've tried to keep away! Been to zoo with sis and nieces today. In laws just left at 9pm. Feel like I've had very little proper rest and me time. Been quite nauseous but not too bad. Hoping the tiredness doesn't leave me feeling too poorly tomorrow for my first full day at work for 6 weeks! Really could do with another day off to chill.

Hope the rest of you have a restful weekend x

MotherofPearl · 19/07/2015 23:33

Chops, good luck with work tomorrow. Hope you won't feel too tired, as you say. Barmee, hope that you manage to keep the vomming at bay. Nausea is so debilitating, but still seems marginally preferable to actually being sick.
Hope everyone is doing as well as can be expected.

BarmeeMarmee · 20/07/2015 09:44

It was too good to be true-the vomiting has started. Been feeling horrendous all morning (well even more horrendous than I was anyway!) but made it in to work and then had to run off mid-conversation with a colleague to be sick in the toilets. It was just bile as I hadn't managed to eat anything yet today. Had taken a cyclizine this morning as well. So so fed up now.

MotherofPearl · 20/07/2015 11:25

Oh Barmee, so sorry for you! What meds were you on last time? If cyclizine is failing you at this early stage - and you've been taking it pre-emptively for some weeks -maybe it's worth going back to GP right away. I know others on the thread reckon they tend to take you more seriously if you've suffered before. May be worth pushing for different meds sooner rather than later? I've promised myself that if get PG and am suffering again that I will not give up until I get ondansetron (although I know it's easy to feel determined when you are well and not yet ground down with sickness). I know that ondansetron not necessarily a miracle cure for everyone but seems to have the best results. Really hope you find something that works for you.

LilacWine7 · 20/07/2015 11:28

Had a vom-free day on Sat, then yesterday went to a butterfly-zoo and gardens, felt nauseous all morning so we left early... I was violently sick soon as we got home and queasy for the rest of the day. Today feeling very nauseous but no vomiting yet. Strange how symptoms come and go. Hoping for more vom-free days!

Barmee sorry the vomiting has started! Can you take time off work? Hope the cyclizine kicks in soon.

Chops good luck with your return to work today!

Hope everyone else is coping ok...

BarmeeMarmee · 20/07/2015 11:35

MoP I was on cyclizine and ondansetron last time. I didn't get ondansetron until I'd had a hospital admission though.

Lilac unfortunately I'm another one who has a rolling sick period and I can't afford not to be paid so don't want to take time off if I can possibly help it.

Will try and get back to the doctors this week if I can although doubt I'll be able to before Thursday unfortunately.

Got a very busy day tomorrow -have a day off but have to take my daughter to 2 hospital appointments and also have my booking in appointment with the midwife so certainly won't be any opportunity to rest.

Reebok · 20/07/2015 12:15

Hello ladies, just popped on to say that my miscarriage was confirmed today. Hormones are still high so hopefully will stop feeling sick soon. Thank you for all of your support. Hope all of you start to feel better soon. Take care x

BarmeeMarmee · 20/07/2015 12:27

Reebok so so sorry.

Mirabal · 20/07/2015 13:32

Oh Reebok I'm so so sorry. That's horrible - be kind to yourself Flowers. I really hope you feel physically better soon, it's all so unfair.

chops I hope you managed to get the extra tests to see what the breathlessness was all about - doesn't sound like something they should ignore

barmee so sorry you are suffering - cyclizine did nothing for me- might be worth trying to push for something else?

I wanted to report back on the new ondansetron - I think it has stopped me being sick, which if this continues would be amazing. I still feel sick in the day but if the vomiting does stop it will be life changing. This is all due to phoning the wonderful helpline that Lucinda recommended and finding a consultant in another borough. I didn't even see that person which threw me a bit but someone in her team and she was so wonderful and suggested we try ondansetron as it has good results (yes - I was screaming inside!)

I don't know how it now works though, she said that as she had prescribed it that my GP would now be able to but I have my doubts. They also only had enough Ondansetron at the hospital for ten days so waiting for the phone call to tell me the rest is in. Feeling a bit frantic about it all.

For the other ladies on ondansetron - what did you do about the constipation? I haven't actually been able to go the last three days (sorry TMI). Did you ever take that fluxolax liquid? or what else did you try?

I'm going to try to go to work tomorrow. I tried not taking the drowsy meds in combo - phenargan (promethazine) and stemetil (prochloperazine) this mrorning so that I can not be a zombie at work but I started vomming again so it looks like I'm sticking with them. I know it's going to be so hard to concentrate but I'm going crazy being at home and if I can stop being sick I think I should try.

Sorry for essay! Hope everyone is coping

BarmeeMarmee · 20/07/2015 14:29

Well I just tried to get an appointment this afternoon at my doctors. What a waste of time-I could cry! First the receptionist said I could see a nurse practitioner and when I said I'd rather see a GP she demanded to know why. I said I didn't want to say as I'm in the middle of an open plan office so she huffed down the phone and me and said the latest appointment was 4.30 which there is no way I can physically get home for -my commute is too long. I rang back and ask for a Dr to phone me instead and again they demanded I tell them why. Then they said I'll be called from 5.45 onwards-at which point I'll be on the train on the way home :(
What am I supposed to do??
