Arrived at 11 am yesterday. Pessary in by noon. They won't even look at my under carriage until 24hrs after pessary going in, but have to stay overnight on 4 hour obs. Best case scenario they can break my waters in the morning, otherwise a 6 HR wait then another pessary then another 6hr wait to see if that works which takes me to 11 PM.
Poor girl in the next bay has been chucking up all night. I really feel for her she is so young and frightened (obvs no sleep for me tho).
I have watched waaaaay too much telly. What happened to splat waters break ... three pushes.... baby's here! It is not slow mo in the movies!

Oh no, how disappointing! At least you can escape for lunch. I hope space becomes available soon for you.

LoveLetters · 25/06/2015 14:18

So frustrating. Hold on in there xx

FATEdestiny · 25/06/2015 14:19

Enjoy the calm before the storm.

ReluctantCamper · 25/06/2015 14:23

Continuous monitoring is a PITA. But they can hook you up so you can still walk around, use birthing ball etc. It's really worth making a fuss and getting them to do that. You do not want to be on your back.

Good luck!

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 25/06/2015 15:39

I had continuous monitoring but was allowed to lie on my left side (best place to deliver if you can't physically stand up, which I couldn't, despite my best intentions! Couldn't even stay on all fours, HAD to lie down).

Belleende · 25/06/2015 21:43

End of day 3. Waters remain unbroken and I am still in hospital. The good news is I am on a much quieter and cooler side ward. Hoping to get some decent kip tonight so I can face whatever tomorrow brings.

Night all

Belle I've come over from the rmc thread to cheer you on - I'm currently pregnant for the 4th attempt!!! 8+1....

3 days sounds rubbish. Hope you get some sleep tonight - can't wait to hear your announcement though

Belleende · 25/06/2015 22:04

Hey brummie. This is my 4th pregnancy (discounting chemicals). I reckon it is a good number. 8+1 is good too. Fingers crossed that in 32 weeks from now you are moaning about not getting enough sleep on the antenatal ward!

Purpleboa · 26/06/2015 03:43

Hey Bellende. You have my sympathy on the waiting around. I was booked in for an induction to happen today but baby arrived on Tuesday.

I had to have continuous monitoring because of previous high blood pressure (which had subsequently settled). It was annoying - especially when they insisted putting the drip port thing in my hand (not sure of medicine term sorry!) for 'just in case'. Young lad doing it butchered my hand and had to put it in the other one.And I didn't need it in the end! But apart from that it wasn't too bad and I did end up on my back which actually worked out better than I'd expected!

The very best of luck and hope you have some news to share today!

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 26/06/2015 07:31

How are you going, Belleende? Any progress yet? Everything crossed for you that today is the day xx Thanks

Belleende · 26/06/2015 10:45

Good news. Got a decent nights sleep and we are in a much nicer cubicle with daylight and everything

Bad news still no space in the delivery suites so my membranes remain unmolested.

Thinking of calling bump Godot.

can't you go home till they have space, sounds stupid and expensive?

Belleende · 26/06/2015 11:44

I agree. I asked about going home, the risk is without being physically here I will have no chance of getting a slot so I would have to basically wait until I go into labour naturally and due to my age the longer this takes the higher the risk of my placenta degrading.

OP posts:
Nameeman · 26/06/2015 11:58

You poor thing. It's not ok that they are keeping you waiting and exhausting you prior to labour. Could you ask to speak to your consultant? I'd put in a pretty strong complaint at this point. Are they still doing planned c-sections etc?

Brummiegirl15 · 26/06/2015 12:02

I thought we'd have news by now! Hope you are doing ok

4 is hopefully going to be the magic number!!

Good luck!!!

longestlurkerever · 26/06/2015 12:47

Rubbish belle I feel for you. Make a fuss, sometimes it's the only way. You were booked for an induction, it must be important that you have it.

Belleende · 26/06/2015 13:37

Still here. The latest is that despite me being told different by every midwife and consultant up to this point and it being in my notes, they are now saying that their recommendation is that I go to the consultant led unit, even if I go into spontaneous labour after the membrane rupture. If I want mlu it will be against med advice but they will accommodate it. This has pissed me off as if I had known this I may have made a different decision about the induction but that is water under the bridge.

Now have to make a decision which way to go. I have no idea what impact this would have on when I might be seen.

There are so many unknowns and uncontrollable factors it us a hard call to make. My gut is telling me that bump is just not ready to come out and that I will end up on the drip and on clu regardless. The scientist in me has looked at the evidence and concluded that they are being unnecessarily cautious and I should stick to my mlu guns.

Hummmmmm. Can I just go to sleep and wake up with a little baby beside me? I had that in a dream a few weeks ago and it was lush.

DaysAreWhereWeLive · 26/06/2015 13:46

Oh OP, I get it. I was induced with both of mine and DD was a bit of a marathon. DS was really quick but he was second and that's more likely with subsequent births.

I went under Consultant care both times and although some parts of it were unpleasant, ultimately DD was back to back and completely stuck; she came by forceps in theatre, so I was glad to have had the monitoring done really.

By the way don't think that forceps in theatre sounds terrible; it really wasn't, and DD and I were both fine. DH was there, the staff took great care of us all, it was the most emotional day of my life.

You'll get there too. Good luck!

longestlurkerever · 26/06/2015 14:07

Belle I have done both and actually as far as the birth goes they were pretty similar. Mlu was lots more relaxing afterwards but I was home the same day both times anyway and if I had been kept in longer I would have been transferred to the postnatal ward anyway. Does clu necessarily mean constant monitoring? I had periodic monitoring on mine.

Belleende · 26/06/2015 14:17

I can go to clu. If I am lucky the one wireless monitoring unit will be available. If not I can request intermittent monitoring. I am leaning towards clu, I am so far away from the birth I envisaged already that I can't see it making a huge difference.

Popping in to say hi to belle and the other rmc people. 36+1 today so all the delivery fun still in my future. Thinking of you belle x

longestlurkerever · 26/06/2015 16:02

Hello Charlie! A veritable reunion at belle's bedside. Wishing you luck!

Belleende · 26/06/2015 16:50

Decided on clu. Was told they were just Turing a room around. That was 3 hours ago and we haven't even gone for a walk in case we lost the slot. Now it looks like the room has gone but the inevitable shift change has happened and no one can tell us anything. If nothing happens tonight I am going to discharge myself and go home to wait for nature to take its course. I have been a good little girl, I have followed the medics advice and taken the most conservative approach despite my instincts telling me otherwise. The whole point of the induction was to not go beyond 40 weeks. I am now 40 plus four and no end in sight so I just do not see the point in being here. Having a major sense of humour failure.

Belle it does sound hugely frustrating and sadly not totally unusual. This too shall pass. Xxx

charlieis30 · 26/06/2015 17:00

You're being such a trooper belle. I'd be having a major teary yelly breakdown at this point I think!
