Arrived at 11 am yesterday. Pessary in by noon. They won't even look at my under carriage until 24hrs after pessary going in, but have to stay overnight on 4 hour obs. Best case scenario they can break my waters in the morning, otherwise a 6 HR wait then another pessary then another 6hr wait to see if that works which takes me to 11 PM.
Poor girl in the next bay has been chucking up all night. I really feel for her she is so young and frightened (obvs no sleep for me tho).
I have watched waaaaay too much telly. What happened to splat waters break ... three pushes.... baby's here! It is not slow mo in the movies!

The build up was long for me too, went in 8pm weds eve, persary 1- 11pm, persary 2-10am Thursday morning, 4cm dilated at 5pm, they broke my waters Thursday tea time, put me on hormone drip about 10pm Thursday, I screamed for epidural because the contractions were far too intense, about midnight Thursday and then, Friday morning at 1.50am baby was born!! I was so tired of being in the hospital!!!!

Flisspaps · 24/06/2015 15:58

The pessary is used to get the cervix to be dilated enough to break your waters (and hopefully stimulate ctx)

If you refuse it, and you're not dilated enough for ARM you may as well go home and wait for spontaneous labour - it's the least invasive step of a very invasive process.

bakingtins · 24/06/2015 16:14

belle I am so thrilled to see you so close to the finishing line! I'm shamelessly place marking to see your birth announcement Grin Good luck!

Belleende · 24/06/2015 16:34

Thanks all . Have escaped sweltering hospital to a nearby field and having picnic with dp in the fresh air. Bump is most definitely in my bad books. Not only is he staying put but he will not stay still for the monitoring so had to be monitored for twice as long.
If pessary 2 doesn't open cervix enough to break my waters then c section v likely. Hoping they will take pity on me and give me a side room tonight. My sister reckons I should cry.

Fingers crossed for the second pessary working. Are you not dilated at all?

Belleende · 24/06/2015 16:53

Nope cervix is soft but no dilation.

HelenF350 · 24/06/2015 20:20

Hopefully the second one will shift it. At least it's soft, so something is happening. I have great sympathy for you, there is nothing more boring than being in hospital.

Belleende · 25/06/2015 01:55

2nd sleepless night and I don't think this second pessary is doing owt. Yeah. I love inductions.

Sympathy. He likes it in there, huh? I hope you get the birth you want OP. Shamrock Is it too late/early for Cake?

Belleende · 25/06/2015 02:19

I think I might need to get my head around just achieving a birth, any birth. Getting this one out in one piece has to be the priority. Still, never thought I could be so jealous of other women being in pain.

Have you anything to entertain you? I did an emergency run with the entire series of greys anatomy for my friend (she had her laptop)
Midwife was most bemused when she asked them to hang on while she finished an episode Grin

spillyobeans · 25/06/2015 02:40

Watching with interest as im currently a week overdue and booked in for induction next week, good luck!

Belleende · 25/06/2015 02:55

If it is any consolation silly everyone else seems to be progressing nicely. Lady beside me had pessary one about 3hrs ago and is contracting.

TurnOverTheTv · 25/06/2015 03:01

The contacting bastards. I'm sending cervix opening vibes!

ProcessYellowC · 25/06/2015 03:06

I should be working but dropping in to empathise over the monitoring, gosh it was awful - the belts were so uncomfy.

My pessary (7 y ago) resulted in DS' birth around 12h later, but I remember that feeling like being at the top of a rollercoaster, after you've creaked up the long slope, and time just seems to stop before you're hurled down it...(literally hurling in my case)

Good luck, hope baby gets moving soon...

FastWindow · 25/06/2015 03:12

Brace yourself, I had a two day induction /natural birth.
How far are you?

HelenF350 · 25/06/2015 09:41

Any progress Belle?

SanityClause · 25/06/2015 09:48

I hope your radio silence means something is happening, Belle. My induction with DC1 took forever, as well, and hospitals are just horrible places to be, in the meantime.

Good luck for the birth. Flowers

Belleende · 25/06/2015 10:17

Wooohhh hoo. Have dilated just enough for them to break my waters. Will be heading to the delivery suite soon. Thankyou so much for keeping me company thru the night. It was a long one!

HelenF350 · 25/06/2015 10:24

That's brilliant news! You will have your wee one in your arms soon! Grin

InQuiteAPickle · 25/06/2015 10:28

Aw, good luck! Flowers

Hope everything goes well.

cloudjumper · 25/06/2015 10:39

Awww, belle, just stumbled across your post! So pleased for you, and the best of luck! We've missed you on the rmc thread, I often wondered how you were doing!
Hope to hear your happy arrival news soon xxx

longestlurkerever · 25/06/2015 11:09

Great news! Good luck! xx

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 25/06/2015 11:26

Woohoo - hope we get good news very soon! xx Thanks

Belleende · 25/06/2015 13:57

The saga continues. There is no capacity on either the mlu or clu so waters remains in tact. They seem very keen to have me on the clu, which means continuous monitoring which I am very keen to avoid. Also very very keen to avoid another night on the ward. Have popped out to somewhere civilised for lunch.
