am 10 weeks pg, but had a bit of bleeding last night not to overly worried as i know you can bleed in pg, i have done in other pgs. i had a scan last week and saw the heart beat, so thought everything was ok(had m/c in june), well now getting pains in my side kidney area and back and now i have stopped feeling sick, weather its my mind playing tricks i have no idea.
i know i should ring mw and ask her, but with bleeding stopped now dont want to sound stupid! what should i do>?

get it checked out.....you need the reassurance......sickness does start to reduce coming to end of first trimester....but you will feel better if you get some reassurance....xx

do you think it could be an water infection?

Hey trace. I thought pg would be the happiest most carefree time of my life. Well after everything we've been through I think I can safely say that it's the most worrying time of our lives! What kind of blood was it and how much? Has it stopped?

I bled at 8wks- bright red and had pain so immediately assumed the worse. Had a scan and an internal and the baby is fine, they put the bleeding down to a cervical erosion (hence the pain). Still, after the m/c this summer, I did panic and fear the worse. I think something like 45% of people bleed in the first trimester. I had a strange time of it at 10wks, the nausea disappeared and I started to have the oddest pains around my sides and back. I had another scan at 10+5 and the doc said that between 10 and 12wks the baby has a growth spurt and the uterus does some funny things to compensate. However, if you have kidney pain I would go and check for a water infection- very common in the first trimester and not comfortable either.

Can you get an appointment today?

Wishing you lots of luck and love (as always) for this pg.

Keep us updated chick!

trace2 · 14/11/2006 10:39

hi trace first of all congratulations

think u and i were on the jan 07 thread but left together

Have u a number for your local early pregnancy unit? you could ring them in stead of your midwife. or ring delivery suite and ask for teh number of the EPU thats what i did

trace2 · 14/11/2006 10:47

mumofmonsters hi thank you, yes we was !
we dont have an early pg unit here i would have to go to a&e and i really dont want to do that, when i lost jacks twin i had a awful time there and if i didnt stand my ground i would not have jack now, they wanted to give me a d&c without scaning me.

Try not to worry too much Trace, you are at the right stage for some of the symptoms to dissapear. If you can't get the midwife again, ring the labour ward, you should have the number in your notes, they will probably pass you around the hospital if it is anythng like mine, but you eventually you will get to speak to someone who will help, good luck!

trace2 · 15/11/2006 09:32

hi nat not really worrying!, just dont feel right if you know what i mean, with all my pg i was sick all way through.
hows you see you still here

OP posts:
NatalieJane · 15/11/2006 09:36

I would just try and take it easy, and enjoy the break from sore boobs etc.! I think as well, if something has gone wrong, you wouldn't have stopped bleeding after just a little bit.

I am 38 weeks today, feeling better today than most days, but then 2 apple puff cakes and a mars bar do tend to perk me up!! (And I have already had breakfast this morning LOL)

trace2 · 15/11/2006 09:38

iv been expecting you having your baby befor now, enjoy lol

NatalieJane · 15/11/2006 09:42

No, he is happy where he is, I just hope he isn't too comfortable in there, I don't want to be induced again!

Just thought, have you tried ringing NHS Direct? They might be able to tell you to go to a different hospital with an EPU, I know you can choose where to go for operations and things now but I don't know if you can for things like this though, it might be worth a shot?

MerlinsBeard · 15/11/2006 19:29

still thinking of you trace

pinkranger · 16/11/2006 09:31

MerlinsBeard · 16/11/2006 13:37

glad ur much more positive trace. i know if i ever got pg again then every twinge would have me rushing to a&e. Am a bit concerned that u still can't get hold of your mw tho. Is that normal where u are? i don't recall ever having to chase a mw up tbh
