Bugaboo Cameleon - are they really that great?

Yes they look fab, and was comfortable and easy to push around in Mothercare but what a price!! Tried some cheaper alternatives in store which were definitely no as comfortable to push.

Love ours, still use it and dd is nearly 2. Now pregnant again and will continue to use for the second one.

We did buy ours 2nd hand off eBay for half the price though....

I much preferred the Uppababy vista 2015. Plus you don't have to pay for many of the extras in the latter. The carry cot on the Uppababy is so much better quality too compared to the bugaboo

In my experience of the last 7 years of hardly ever leaving the house without a pushchair, you really do get what you pay for.

Have never had a Bugaboo though.

We've got a first generation cam which is on it's third child and still going strong. The only thing I would say is to bear in mind it's a two piece fold - fine for us as we don't collapse it often but if you will be then it may become a pain.

I love mine - on its second baby and holding up really well (used almost without a break every day since August 2011) It is very light and easy to steer, and the big back wheels are amazing for going up and down stairs, so much better than the small hard wheels on the Bee. My sister has just bought the uppa baby cruz 2015 which I really like too - it is slightly smaller though, the carrycot is definitely smaller (important for me as dh and I are both quite tall and our babies have been long!) The carrycot on the bugaboo fds completely flat for storage after you switch to the sitting up version. The only downside of the chameleon is the basket under the pram which is a bit difficult to aceess but mine is nearly 4 years old and I think there may be an improved basket on the newer version.

I had 2 ( 1 for each baby) and they were AMAZING. Best pram out there in my opinion. Many of them are on sale second hand on gumtree too so if you can't afford the £1000 its still an option !

I've got an uppababy vista and a bugaboo (for various reasons!). If I'm honest I prefer the uppababy. Sturdier, better carrycot.... Generally just feels better quality.

I'm sure you can get a perfectly decent pushchair for less, but I absolutely love mine. Very light, but has no signs of damage despite enduring twice daily dog walks over rough terrain. So easy to steer in city with one hand, even with a toddler buggy board attached.

The negatives are the 2-part fold (only relevant if you need to collapse it a lot) and as was mentioned earlier, when you're using the pram part, the basket is not easy to access (I have the 2013 model and still a pain, so doesn't look like there have been improvements).

I've had mine since 2008 and it's about to be used on baby number 4. I've got a Phil and Teds too out of necessity of needing a double buggy at times but I love the bugaboo. So light and easy to manoeuvre. Agree the double fold is a pain if you're on and off a bus for eg but I walk everywhere.

I got mine in 2009 and have just passed it onto my sister who has just had her first. It still looks almost new despite having had hard use for my two. I loved it (although doesn't fold very small!)

Bought ours for DS nearly 10 years ago, used it for DD as well, kept it a while, then gave it to my sister who used it for her DS until it, sadly, got stolen out of her car. But yeah, if you're going to use it for a while, then it's a great investment I think. I'm now pregnant with with DC3, and since this is definitely our last, I'm not dishing out the big bucks to buy one new. Not sure yet what I'll do.

The uppababy vista is about £250 cheaper and is an absolutely brilliant pram, try one before you commit to a bugaboo. A great pram is worth the money, I have friends with Silver Cross, Babystyle Oyster, and iCandy prams and they're all cumbersome and difficult to push compared to the Uppababy vista, which when you're exhausted can be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

I love my Cameleon. I too bought it second hand off ebay, in fact buying buggy-board so my little girl can ride behind it when our new baby is born is going to cost me almost as much as the pram did.

I use a sling too so the buggy never goes in the car (I just leave it up in the porch at home) as I found the folding and taking apart far too much of a faff, but I'm still glad we got a decent buggy, I feel cross whenever I have to push my Mum's Maclaren.

I love mine. I fold mine in and out of the car all the time and it's quick and easy. when they're in the carry cot the under basket is still difficult to access (2014 model) but fine once they move to the sitting up pram which I did at 20 weeks (officially it's meant to be 6 months but she could sit up unaided and was bored laid flat)

It depends where you will live and how you will use it.

I know loads of people in London who had them. Without exception they were ditched within a few months.

If you live rurally, have a big boot, walk off road a lot etc it might be different.

I have an Uppababy Vista but have also tried a friend's Cameleon -- the Uppababy is far easier to push. I absolutely love the Uppababy.

I loved my Cameleon though not the lack of basket in carrycot mode or off road.

I am a total convert to air tyres now I'm using a nipper 360 though I wouldn't buy a nipper for a newborn.

Vista is lovely to push, has a fab basket but feels tank like to me and it's not as customisable as the Cameleon.

Babyjogger versa GT is pretty good off road, has a great basket and great fold.

I've got my eye on an easywalker mini at the moment. Some of the other easy walkers get good reviews too.

It really depends what your needs are.

I got one with dc5 as it was the only parent facing carrycot pram that could fit in a smallish people carrier with all seven seats up. It was lovely to push and looked well. I did like it. Obviously with lots of kids I have a good level of comparison and there are two shortfalls. Both carrycot and seat unit are way to small, so it cant be used as long as other prams. When bugaboo first came out it was revolutionary- there were hardly any other parent facing prams that pushed well around. This has changed since. Also if it is your first baby you may want an option to extend to double buggy like with oyster max.
We bought our bugaboo on gumtree, I bought some new hood fabrics and a nice liner and when I was finished I got £10 more than I spent on ebay for it. I would not buy new!

We have an original frog. It's on it's 4th child who is 2. It's still deep red and still looks good. Friend of DH said they have their eye on it....cheeky! You get what you pay for.

Mine has survived three children and is still going strong. Many of my friends have had different prams and I've tried them all... If I was On my first I'd still choose a bugaboo in a heartbeat. Like someone else said, you really do get what you pay for!
