Moan: One day overdue, don't feel like I'll be going into labour any time soon.

Just a moany post really. I know I'm 'only' one day over due and my due date is just an estimate after all. But apart from the odd pain or braxton hicks here and there (nothing regular) I have literally no signs of anything happening. I ended going 15 days overdue with DC1 before being induced and I get the feeling I'll end up being induced with this one too. It sounds silly and I don't even know if it's possible but I feel like my body is just incapable of going into labour naturally. I would really like to avoid being induced again this time round but obviously if it gets to that point then I'll do what's best for me and baby.

Anyone else over due and fed up?

I'm also overdue but by 2 days & having similar despairing thoughts! I have nothing else to clean, all correspondence has been completed- I'm bored!

Christelle2207 · 20/05/2015 18:28

40+4 here and will whinge with you. I did go into labour about on time last time so did not expect to go overdue by much. Am firmly in the fat and fed up camp. Have felt a bit weird/crampy over the last few days but today feel....fineHmm. Sweep on friday- are you having one?

Royalsteph · 20/05/2015 18:28

I'm 10 days overdue so know how you feel. the hours are dragging by soooo slowly for me. I was induced at plus 13 with ds2, so also know how you feel about not going into labour on your own. hugs and sympathy Thanks

Christelle2207 · 20/05/2015 18:30

Urgh royal! Do you have a date for induction?
At least my mw has promised me a baby by the end of the monthConfused

Royalsteph · 20/05/2015 18:33

Friday if there is a bed available, if not Saturday. there is a light at the end of the tunnel, we can't be pregnant forever...surely?

Cherryblossomsinspring · 20/05/2015 18:44

I was 1 wk early on ds and 1 wk late on dd. I can tell you dd came out so much more developed than ds. Much stronger digestion etc so less crying and miserable evenings. I think the extra time in the womb was a good thing! Hang in there, it really could kick off anytime.

NickySummerbee · 20/05/2015 19:59

I was 2 weeks late with DC1. At 40+2 with DC2 I felt grumpy, pissed off etc... I went into labour that night.

YouMakeMyHeartSmile · 20/05/2015 20:05

I didn't have a single inkling of the baby coming until I went into labour at 40+6. No Braxton hicks, no pain, couldn't do a sweep as cervix was too far back and completely closed, head only 1/5 engaged... So it can happen, have faith!

Christelle2207 · 20/05/2015 20:19

Ah that's reassuring. I think the most annoying this is the stream of "any twinges, any signs" texts from my mother. Grrr.

Christelle2207 · 20/05/2015 20:19

Thing not this

imwithspud · 20/05/2015 20:41

Sweep on friday- are you having one?

Yes mine is booked for next Tuesday, Midwife will also be booking my induction then as well. Hopefully I won't even need the sweep!

Sorry to be TMI but I'm sure I've been losing what I think are bits of mucus plug over the past couple of days... so that's something I guess? Fingers crossed we all go into labour soon!

OP posts:
Christelle2207 · 20/05/2015 21:08

Yes def a good sign! Nothing here.

imwithspud · 20/05/2015 22:22

I think I may have had similar happen last time though but I can't really remember much from my last pregnancy to be honest. You'd think having done all this before that I would just suck it up and wait quietly but I think I'm actually worse this time round. Being heavily pregnant and looking after a toddler at the same time is soooo not fun.

OP posts:
Christelle2207 · 20/05/2015 22:26

Agreed! How old is your toddler? Mine is 21 months-
Lovely but going through a challenging phase!

imwithspud · 20/05/2015 23:04

Two and a half and is also going through a challenging phase, not listening, purposely doing the opposite of what I say, cheekiness and tantrums. The joys of the terrible 2's haha, it's not all bad of course but at the moment the difficulties are magnified somewhat.

Can I come onboard to moan, please?

41+4 here. Had sweep at 39 weeks (unstable baby had gone head down briefly so tried to encourage her out), one last sunday (which lead to a lot of back pain and increased, more painful braxton hicks which never went anywhere). Third sweep was Tuesday ... repeat back pain and BH, but even more discomfort which also went nowhere. Fourth sweep planned for tomorrow but not looking forward to it if I end up with 6 hours of discomfort and nothing to show.

I have form, though. DS1 (6) was 41+3; DS2 (3) was 41+6. Doesn't make me feel any better tho; still feel like this will never end.

Smugnogplease · 21/05/2015 04:31

Nipple tweaking and hours bouncing on my ball have really ramped up regular BH over night for me, I'm 37+5 with dc4 and always go over
due! I've also taken
Evening primrose every day and strong raspberry leaf tea. It seems to be helping

MayfairMummy · 21/05/2015 04:46

smug; i'm reliably informed that expressing works even better than tweaking, if you're sitting up like me.... Cake

I had great plans for EPO and tea, etc, etc ... but until last sunday she'd been breech (actually, unstable - so everything, not just breech), and everything i read was not to encourage a breech baby out until they were fully cooked... particularly if trying to avoid a hospital birth (have had 2 home births and hoping for 3rd). Foolishly, since Sunday i've been trying to convince myself hoping that it would all kick off shortly.

YouMakeMyHeartSmile · 21/05/2015 07:53

If you can cope with it(!) sex worked at getting 5 out of 7 of the babies in my NCT group moving last time! I had my first contraction 2 hours after DTD.

imwithspud · 21/05/2015 08:03

Thanks, we tried sex on my due date but it didn't seem to work, had a few irregular pains but then nothing. Even though the last thing I want to do right now is dtd I may have to give it another go, much to my oh's delight!

OP posts:
Christelle2207 · 21/05/2015 08:06

Oh God that is the one thing I really can't face! Pretty sure DH can't either.
Bloody toddler has been running around since 5.30 amHmm

imwithspud · 21/05/2015 09:51

I feel ridiculously unattractive atm, I have no idea how or why my oh would have even the slightest interest in dtd with me atm, but if it helps get baby out I'll be happy to try again haha. As long as it's over quickly Blush

OP posts:
MayfairMummy · 21/05/2015 10:38

DTD hasn't worked here either ... though it did make me very uncomfortable early in the piece... (just after the 37 week mark). Now it's just messy, and unpleasant because i've got (sorry, tmi) mild thrush which it seems to make worse. Blush.

Maybe it's just ME that's not actually ready for another baby Grin ....

Christelle2207 · 22/05/2015 13:56

40+6 here. Any progress anyone? I honestly thought something was happening, cramps and constant braxton hicks from 1am till morning. Cramps subsided but BH still going strong. Went to mw for a sweep hoping she would say I was 1-2 cm dilated but apparently not dilating at allHmm - said cervix was softening in preparation though. So it could be hours....or daysConfused. Don't know what to do with DS, my mother will come and collect him but don't want him to go until he has to IYSWIM. She could come here and wait but that could mean her and I staring at each other all weekend which is definitely NOT an attractive possibility.
Mw booked me in for induction next thurs "just in case" which is a depressing thought. Only slept about 3h last night.

MayfairMummy · 22/05/2015 14:01

No news here. Hmm. 3 sweeps this week which have all caused hours of strong discomfort a few BH and nothing else. Now 41+5. Induction booked for Monday but still holding hope. Ds2 was 41+6. Would have been easier if not on school hols tho!
