Moan: One day overdue, don't feel like I'll be going into labour any time soon.

Just a moany post really. I know I'm 'only' one day over due and my due date is just an estimate after all. But apart from the odd pain or braxton hicks here and there (nothing regular) I have literally no signs of anything happening. I ended going 15 days overdue with DC1 before being induced and I get the feeling I'll end up being induced with this one too. It sounds silly and I don't even know if it's possible but I feel like my body is just incapable of going into labour naturally. I would really like to avoid being induced again this time round but obviously if it gets to that point then I'll do what's best for me and baby.

Anyone else over due and fed up?

Theo Reuben was born at 0348 weighing 8 lb on 21 may at 40 + 11. good luck ladies, the end is in sight Thanks

Christelle2207 · 22/05/2015 15:31

Oh lovely! Did he come quite quickly in the end then-
Congratulations!
Theo is my no 1 name choiceSmile. Sadly I have yet to convince
DH, am just hoping at the mo that he looks like a Theo when he arrives and can then convince him!

Royalsteph · 22/05/2015 15:34

first contraction at 945 pm baby born at 0348. 2hr 48 in established labour. last stage was 5 mins. I didn't have any signs in the run up and the contractions started at 5 mins apart Grin

imwithspud · 22/05/2015 16:25

Congratulations Royalsteph! No news here either. The past couple of days have been relatively pain free much to my dismay. That said walking is becoming increasingly more difficult, I get the WORST pain in my right hip after about 10mins of being on my feet, no idea what is causing it. Probably just the way baby is lying. Currently sat in the car whilst my mum and nan have gone into Aldi as I can't face the walk roundConfused I've resigned myself to doing the food shop online for the foreseeable future. Back is currently aching although that could just be be way I'm sitting in the car but in a way, as uncomfortable as I am I'm glad of any pain as it makes me feel like things are happening iykwim.

That's very good going steph!
All "signs" have died a death here, though I'm absolutely knackered already.
Off to bed as soon as DS has settled to give me the best possible chance of a good sleep.

imwithspud · 22/05/2015 19:50

It's so frustrating when the signs come and go isn't it? I've been consistently uncomfortable since I got home, mild back pain on and off and fairly regular tightenings/braxton hicks, although I've not really been timing them. Might just be in my head but I'm sure my bump has dropped a bit too. Only time will tell! Might force myself to crack on with some housework tomorrow, see if that helps things, I've struggled with it lately and OH has been picking up a lot of the slack but I think I need to just push through and force myself to get moving.

OP posts:
Christelle2207 · 23/05/2015 21:59

Well after spending most of yesterday convinced things were moving along, today I felt...normal ??! Managed to have quite a nice day in fact with dh and ds. Lots of braxton hicks but nothing else to report.
Now just focussing on thursday which will be worst case scenario induction.
If anything happens between now and mid-afternoon tomorrow however we don't really have childcare, meaning I could be in hosp on my own, at least for a while. So now hoping he stays put until then at least.

imwithspud · 23/05/2015 23:21

Exactly the same here Christelle, felt like things were maybe 'starting' yesterday but today? Nothing! Apart from the odd braxton hicks and more losing of (what I think) is the MP. Seriously frustrating, I feel like every day I'm getting bigger and less mobile. Not to mention that I'm really short so I look really funny when pregnant - literally all belly and totally out of proportion! Even my maternity clothes struggle to cover my bump. I want to meet baby and feel normal again Envy

RoyalSteph, congratulations, and welcome to the world, Theo! Glad to hear all went well...

Spud, Christelle, I'm hoping you had a productive night... can't say the same for myself. Was sure it was finally kicking off yesterday (first day of proper back pain, without having just had a sweep (on top of my ongoing BH))... but no. 2 weeks over and still waiting.

Hope you have a lovely day, ladies...

imwithspud · 24/05/2015 06:31

No news here as of yet... I don't remember being this impatient last time haha. I think the pain of labour from last time is still etched in my memory, I just want to get it over and done with asap, preferably without being induced although I have a feeling that induction will be the way to go for me.

OP posts:
MayfairMummy · 24/05/2015 06:51

Sorry to hear that, spud... i think it's much harder to be patient when you're juggling family as well.

i was really hoping not to have to go the induction / hospital route, but have to admit, i'm now getting to a point where it's just time to crack on, even if it needs intervention. On the plus side, i've been baking cakes / brownies etc for over 2 weeks now (since my parents arrived to help!) and i'm getting a freezerful of sweet things to .. ahem... keep me going while i'm breastfeeding ...

imwithspud · 24/05/2015 07:39

That sounds like an awesome idea, I might have to do some baking myself. I have noticed recently I've been getting more with the weekly shop lately, and freezing loads of left overs when I can. I think I just want to make sure we have plenty of food in the house for when I do eventually come home with the new baby, even though I can easily do a shop online for next day delivery or send my oh out to get what ever when the time comes. Costing us a small fortune though and I can't seem to stop eating haha. Must be an instinct thing to an extent, at least that's what I keep telling myselfWink

Christelle2207 · 24/05/2015 07:50

All quiet here too, at least we all slept well over here. Are you being induced tomorrow mayfair, at least not long for you now!
Baking is a great idea I may do that today. I may need to make my own birthday cake- my husband was going to make one on my b'day which was due date last weekend but his df is poorly and I suggested he leave it for now.
We'll have to eat (all of) it if I make it tho because I've done all my batch cooking and the freezer is full! Was so important last time to have easy healthy stuff to bung in the microwave to eat.
Going to try and keep as busy as possible today, 41+1

imwithspud · 26/05/2015 08:19

Any news anyone?

I don't want to jinx it but I think I might be in early labour, been having contractions every 5-15mins since the early hours of this morning and they're definitely more than just twinges! I'm totally exhausted already especially as the toddler was up early this morning but fingers crossed it's not false labour and I continue to progress. Got midwife at 4:30 this afternoon if I make it that long to hopefully do a sweep if I need it at that point or at the very least see if I've dilated at all. Very excited/nervous right now! Trying hard not to show too much discomfort in front of my 2 year old when a contraction comes on as some of them feel quite strong/intense. Makes me wonder how I'll cope when they get longer, stronger and closer together! Grin

Good luck, Spud. I'm 40+1 today and writing lists of pointless tasks to keep me occupied. Sigh......

imwithspud · 26/05/2015 10:52

Thanks Daisy, things seem to have slowed down now unfortunately but I'm off out soon so hopefully being up and about will help. Hopefully things get going for all of us soon!

I just want to tell you all that I'm so excited for everyone on here! I'm 15 weeks with dc3 and reading all your posts is making me so excited :) although this time between your due date and baby arriving is hard and testing, it's also SO freaking amazing. Go Mamas!! You are all made of wonderful wonderful stuff ;) xxx

leanne963 · 26/05/2015 12:02

Hey everyone, i am 40+2 with first full term baby. (MC at 11 weeks last June) So i am so very happy to be in this position but at the same time i think i was a bit cocky and told everyone that 'i am sure i would give birth by 39 weeks) Hmm
No signs or twinges or anything, no plug...nothing. lol. She is still moving around lots and at my 38 week appointment she wasn't engaged at all. Have appointment on Thursday with midwife when i will be 40+4 so i hope at the very least she is engaged and i can get a sweep there and then! Argh. Good luck ladies i hope you all get to meet your babies very soon!!

MayfairMummy · 26/05/2015 12:51

Baby Mayfair born yesterday at 40+15 after an ARM followed by 4.5 hour labour. Contractions kicked off immediately and we have a 9lb baby girl to add to the family ...Grin. Didn't manage the planned for home birth but did get lucky and got to use the birthing pool on the ward.

imwithspud · 26/05/2015 15:37

Congratulations Mayfair!

Yey for mayfair baby!
DS2 arrived this morning at 1.49, shocking us all by weighing in at 9lb12Shock. Had stop start mild contractions all day yesterday but tried not to get take too much notice as it was similar on friday. However they started coming thick and fast (though still quite mild) at about 6pm but suddenly got quite intense about 9pm when we went to hospital and told 7cm! Down to delivery suite soon after where I was given remi (amazing stuff- not all hospitals offer it) and entonox and DS delivered 1.49am. By far the worst bit was afterpains/shaking and lots of vomiting (all at the same time!) afterwards but I was ok by about 4am when admitted to ward. Being discharged shortlyGrin

Christelle2207 · 26/05/2015 16:50

Hang in there ladies, especially spud Just 24 hours ago was wondering if things were ever going to get going naturally of their own accord and very suddenly yes they didWink

MayfairMummy · 26/05/2015 16:55

Congrats christelle! What a good sized baby Shock.

Thinking of you spud, hope it comes quickly!

imwithspud · 26/05/2015 17:17

Wow! Congrats Christelle, looks like it's just me now haha! Went to the midwife and had a sweep, she said baby's head is nice and low and I'm 2-3cms dilated. Booked my induction but she reckons I'll be giving birth within the next 48 hours. Fingers crossed! Starting to get excited/scared now.
