Hi all,

I want to get a early/reassure scan as I have had a little line of bleeding when I wipe over the last few days (3 times over 4-5 days), apart from that I havent had too many pregnancy symptons apart from cramps now and again and initially i had saw boobs.

The first day of my last period was 1st April but I have irregular periods. Does this confuse the weeks in terms of how long i have to wait until i can get a early scan? How many weeks would people say i am.

Thanks in advance

That puts you at about 6 weeks so on the very earliest edge for possibly seeing a heartbeat.

darrenwis · 15/05/2015 17:13

OK so it doesnt matter that my period is irregular in terms of dating the pregnancy? Is it best to wait for 7/8 weeks for a early scan to see a heartbeat?

Thanks.

The 6 weeks is only a best guess unless you know when you ovulated and even that would only narrow it down. Suspect that's partly why there's sometimes a heartbeat at 6 weeksish, sometimes not. You can call your nearest early pregnancy unit to find out earliest they might see you for a scan if bleeding.

darrenwis · 15/05/2015 20:42

Can we go there even if we have yet to see the midwife? We're on her list to call and make appointment, we hope she will call Tuesday.

I've wiped 3 times over say 4/5 days and there's been a very thin small smear of blood on tissue. Should I be worried?

Just done another test because I have next to no symptoms and a small line of blood on 3 different occasions (TMI)

The faint line is lighter than it was on 4th May when we found out. Is this normal?

Darren I have replied on your other thread too hun. If you are getting bleeding your GP should be able to refer you to an Early Pregnancy Unit for a scan. You will prob need to wait until Monday now though as they might not be open weekends, I know my local one isn't. I booked a private scan (cost £75) and they only do them over 7 weeks. The EPU will scan you at any amount of weeks but probably internally at this stage (you need an empty bladder). At 6 weeks it may be too early to see a heartbeat but they can see if the embryo is in the right place and if it has a yolk sac etc. Try not to panic as some ladies do get spotting. I wish you the very best of luck and please do update x x

Can I ask ppl is it normal that when I done a pregnancy test today IT was lighter than on 4th May.

Darren did you phone your GP today to get booked for an early scan. Been thinking about you, hope you're ok. Post a reply soon x

Phoned GP who were useless, also phoned early pregnancy unit who wont see me unless referred. Going to GP tomorrow but its a walk in appointment so could be there for hours for no reason as their useless!! Just hope they refer me.

Can I ask ppl is it normal that when I done a pregnancy test a few days ago IT was lighter than on 4th May. tested at different times and i didnt really need the loo.

It could be implantation bleeding, I had this around 6/7 weeks and mistook it for my period.

darrenwis · 18/05/2015 19:34

What has worried me is that when I done a pregnancy test a few days ago IT was lighter than on 4th May. tested at different times and i didnt really need the loo, does that matter?

A line is a line, whether or not it is a faint one.

darrenwis · 18/05/2015 19:48

i'm 7 weeks on wednesday although not had many preg symptoms yet, just sensitive boobs now and again, it was just strange how the line was FAINTER nearly 12 days after my initial BFP. Its just worried me a bit.

lauraa4 · 18/05/2015 19:56

As ArseForElbow said a line is a line. I've done two or three tests all at the same time before and one had a darker line than the others.

I know it's stressful but until you've had the scan you need to try and keep calm and positive about it. Working yourself up is not good for you.

chopsface · 18/05/2015 20:31

Can't believe your gp wouldn't refer you. Fingers crossed you will get a referral tomorrow and get a scan to reassure you.

I took a preg test at around 7 weeks and it looked fainter than before and I got worried. It was a cheapy test and the dye was probably crap. I had a private scan at 8+5 and all was well. I have everything crossed for you.

Grantaire · 18/05/2015 20:36

It doesn't matter how faint the line is. It doesn't mean anything. It's just the limitation of the tests. An early scan and/or blood hcg levels are the two ways they will establish what is happening.

Good luck at the GP tomorrow.

darrenwis · 18/05/2015 20:39

They were both the same tests, first response ones although the one 11 days after was fainter than the first one. I'm just praying it doesn't mean anything. How quick does a referral to a early pregnancy unit normal take? Is there normally a waiting list?

Thanks for keeping everything crossed everyone!

I was seen by the EPU within 2 days. Shouldn't take very long at all.

chopsface · 18/05/2015 22:01

At my EPU you get your referral and then go there and wait, first come first served.

ArseForElbow · 19/05/2015 18:59

I hope you have stopped worrying OP Smile

chopsface · 19/05/2015 20:33

Any news hun?

madreloco · 19/05/2015 20:38

you don't need an epu appt and you don't need a scan. That isn't classed as bleeding at all, its totally normal to have that tiny amount.

gennibugs · 19/05/2015 20:55

I hope you have an EPU referral from the GP. Definitely get checked out if you are worried. Whilst spotting is for most women absolutely normal its a worrying time and there is no harm in being seen.

As for the tests - there are so many reasons why the line could be fainter - more diluted wee, less dye in the test etc so try not to let that worry you x
