Boy or girl? :) or don't you know yet? I do love new babies in white babygros mind.

evelynj · 09/05/2015 18:14

Yip, plain white babygro.

LizziW · 09/05/2015 18:15

For me nothing beats a really well fitted baby gro and a gorgeous little cardi on top.

MadameJosephine · 09/05/2015 18:15

Personally I don't think there's anything more beautiful than a new baby in a plain white sleep suit

RatOnnaStick · 09/05/2015 18:16

Poppered short sleeve vest (several) and the snazziest babygro you fancy (Several)

Anything else is entirely pointless because little scrunched up legs and arms are virtually impossible to manhandle into anything more complicated.

BookSnark · 09/05/2015 18:16

It's a girl - but IMO first outfits shouldn't be gendered. Plain white all the way - possibly with a bit of cream or grey....

I agree, white baby grow and if it's not too warm a hand knitted white cardigan.

RatOnnaStick · 09/05/2015 18:17

And they will puke on it Smile

Brand new DD in white cotton sleepsuit

What's the perfect newborn outfit?
SillyBub · 09/05/2015 18:19

Both mine (sex unknown until birth) wore white sleepsuits, with a vest underneath, until they'd outgrown the newborn size and then they wore other sleepsuits until they were 6 months old. I bought 20 second-hand sleepsuits in a bundle for 99p off ebay and they did both of them fine. An 'outfit' for a newborn? Confused, they only puke and over them, so even if you went for something special, the chances are they'd be undergoing a full outfit change within minutes anyway. I never considered this as a 'thing'.

BookSnark · 09/05/2015 18:20

I tend to do a little white vest underneath - the kind that popper across the body - rather than need to be pulled over the head.

And tell me about where you get your well fitted white baby-grow from?

Day 2 onwards - it's Florence&Fred and George Adasda all the way .... But they aren't that special for the first outfit.

MY dd had an 'outfit' I just wanted her to look pretty for photos.

She was not appreciative Grin

SillyBub · 09/05/2015 18:20

puke and poo

fiveacres · 09/05/2015 18:21

Ah, lovely baby original

TravellingToad · 09/05/2015 18:21

white/cream/grey with little white cardigan preferably hand knitted

TravellingToad · 09/05/2015 18:22

anything but jeans, waistcoat, bow tie etc

nothing worse on a newborn! why are they sold in that size!!

Stinkersmum · 09/05/2015 18:23

Yep, white babygro and cardigan if needed.

JasperDamerel · 09/05/2015 18:25

Plain white baby-grow. Hand-knit white cardigan or blanket.

ejclementine · 09/05/2015 18:25

These are lovely for a newborn girl. www.next.co.uk/g1w2010s2

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 09/05/2015 18:26

They are all scrunched up like a little frog when they are newborn and it's quite hard to stuff them into a babygro let alone an outfit. Get one with easy poppers at the bottom, not at the back, or tied with ribbon or any other impractical inventions

BookSnark · 09/05/2015 18:28

When I say 'outfit' I do mean 'help me find the perfect tiny baby-grow'. I'll save

Although none of mine were tiny I did get some lovely ones from boots that were just so perfect and fitted and....yikes makes me feel broody!

5YearsTime · 09/05/2015 18:29

My babies first outfit was chosen by a NICU nurse and I wouldn't have dressed her like that at all. I didn't give a shit as they finally let my baby get dressed!

After that it was plain white sleep suits from ASDA with vest underneath. Love a sleep suit. Anything else is just too fiddly and is only for your own benefit!

RatOnnaStick · 09/05/2015 18:32

Aaahh! Ive just gone to look at picturew of my two on day one. They both had a white and grey striped gro on, probably from mothercare or similar. We did have a special babygro for ds2 but it wasnt quite newborn. It was by a company called Olive and Moss. No idea if they are still about. If he had been a bit bigger it would have been his first outfit. This pic has him stretching the seams though.
