Pregnacare making me feel more sick?

Am 10+4 and have been taking pregnacare the whole time but am wondering if it is making me feel worse?
Have a constant feeling of sickness and no appetite but not sure if it's the pregnancy or the vitamins!
What could I take instead? Would just folic acid be ok?

I thought the same and ended up giving fit up and just taking folic acid and (I think) vitamin A

DragonsDontFly · 14/04/2015 21:38

I had a sample of pregnacare, took a tablet one morning when I woke up and it was the only time I dry heaved into the toilet. It made me feel awful. The rest went in the bin and I carried on with just folic acid and vit d.

howabout · 14/04/2015 21:40

I found it was OK as long as I took them after my evening meal - I think this is recommended. Anyway folic acid and vitamin d OK too.

yummymango · 14/04/2015 22:04

You have to make sure you don't take them on an empty stomach, I made that mistake too. As long as Ive had some toast I'm fine.
Laquila, I think you might mean vitamin D - you are not supposed to have vitamin A in pregnancy.

StickChildNumberTwo · 14/04/2015 22:05

Definitely not vitamin A Laquila - that's the one you have to avoid! Vitamin D and folic acid are the important ones.

Littleturkish · 14/04/2015 22:06

It made me very ill, because of the iron in there. I took folic acid on its own and my MW was happy with that.

HoppityVoosh · 14/04/2015 22:06

If they're anything like the asda ones I know exactly what you mean! I've started taking the free small healthy start ones that I got free at the midwife instead.

mousmous · 14/04/2015 22:08

I had the same.
just took them in the evenings instead, which was better for me.

applecatchers36 · 14/04/2015 22:08

Had the same experience & stopped taking them, just took folic acid, baby very healthy.

HoppityVoosh · 14/04/2015 22:09

Said free too many times. But they were free!!

Daisy17 · 14/04/2015 22:12

They made me worse too! Sanatogen Mum To Be were much better for me.

aletea · 14/04/2015 22:13

Yeah I take them at night to minimise the yuck factor

applecore0317 · 14/04/2015 22:17

Pregnacare made me feel horrendous. I took folic acid with vitamin d until 12 weeks then switched to sanatogen pregnancy vitamins. Lower iron content and no issues with them at all

Koalafications · 14/04/2015 22:20

You need Vitamin D as well as Folic acid. It's important for the bone development of your baby. I seen a consultant gynaecologist at the beginning of my pregnancy and she said that a complete pregnancy supplement was important and the advice of just folic acid is very outdated.

thetroubleis · 14/04/2015 22:22

Yep, they made me soooo I'll, but I didn't realise till about 20 weeks in Confused

I didn't take anything after that, I was just too relieved to mot be sick.

NewMrsX · 14/04/2015 23:40

Yes, I switched to the healthy start ones (folic acid and vits c&d) about a week ago and feel loads better

Frasras11 · 15/04/2015 05:02

I started taking mine after evening meal as less likely to feel sick then. I did think they were making me feel more ill. Have just finished the packet and have bought Boots own brand with the omega 3 supplement be a use they also have a ginger extract in them. Hoping it'll help with the all the fucking time nausea!!

HelenF350 · 15/04/2015 05:06

Seven seas ones are great and much cheaper than pregnacare x

Nessalina · 15/04/2015 05:10

I had this issue too, mainly because Pregnacare were so fricking big! I'd been taking Seven Seas 'Trying for a baby' vitamins before the pregnancy, which are contraceptive pill sized, and ion the end I just carried on with them, and took an extra Vit D supplement on top.

stolemyusername · 15/04/2015 05:14

Yep, same here. I was really fed up to oasis never suffered with morning sickness before, it took me a few weeks to work out the link Hmm

rootypig · 15/04/2015 05:46

Look for whole foods vitamins. I found them much easier to tolerate. I took New Chapter www.newchapter.com/multivitamin/perfect-prenatal

Nolim · 15/04/2015 06:21

The omega 3 capsule made me feel sick if not taken with food.

reb2g08 · 15/04/2015 21:18

Thank you, I will try some others then hopefully that will make me feel a bit less sick!

You can break pregnacare in two quite easily so they're better to swallow

PazRaz1975 · 16/04/2015 10:45

I took them before bed as taking them in the morning made me feel terrible. Just before bed meant that I was asleep if they made me feel awful! It also meant my stomach was full from evening meal, which definitely helps.
