mother's intuition on whether baby is boy or girl

hello all

i was just wondering if anyone had strong views on what they were having, and whether they were proven correct or not? i am convinced this is a boy, but OH and everyone else is convinced it's a girl!

some of my friends swear that they knew. others say they did too, but were proven very wrong indeed.

what do we think - is there a mother's intuition on this or is it just lucky guesswork?!

I knew. I was convinced from really early on she was a girl, wasn't wishful thinking either as I didn't have a preference

CommanderShepard · 09/04/2015 10:49

I think it's guesswork. With DC1 all the old wives tales pointed to girl, but I was pretty sure I was having a boy. DC1 is a girl Grin

DC2 is due in September and so far this is an almost identical pregnancy, so I'm guessing it's a girl. All being well, should know tomorrow!

gymboywalton · 09/04/2015 10:50

i knew 100% that ds1 was a boy. I just knew and i was right.
With ds2 I also thought he was a boy but dh thought he was a girl and i didn't feel as sure as I had with ds 1 but sure enough i was right again!

PenguinPoser · 09/04/2015 10:51

My intuition said girl from the beginning.

Everyone else thought boy.
Old wives takes pointed to boy.

Had a girl Smile

Branleuse · 09/04/2015 10:51

I got it wrong all 3 times

hth

Whatabout · 09/04/2015 10:53

I was told at scan dc1 was a girl. I was not really surprised when husband announced I'd pushed out a boy. I just felt it was a boy.

Delilahfandango · 09/04/2015 10:54

I knew for sure with DS 1, was fairly confident with dd and had a suspicion with DS 2!

BikeRunSki · 09/04/2015 10:54

I thought I knew both times. I was 50% right !

Marshpillow · 09/04/2015 11:42

I was 9 weeks pg when I first had a feeling the baby was a girl. I was right!

Teeste · 09/04/2015 11:43

It's 50/50, ain't it? I thought I was having a boy and I was right, but fully prepared to be wrong!

WinterBabyof89 · 09/04/2015 11:46

I've guessed right with both of mine so far .. But I think I was just lucky ha!
This time I've got a boy feeling..

base9 · 09/04/2015 11:48

Your intuition stands a 50% chance.of being correct. So the eventual knowledge will either prove you right and you can tell everyone you were spot on in your mystical connection to your unborn baby, or not.

Bowlersarm · 09/04/2015 11:49

I got it wrong three times.

DramaAlpaca · 09/04/2015 11:50

I also got it wrong all three times.

HarrietSchulenberg · 09/04/2015 12:00

It's just guesswork. I was absolutely certain that all my children were girls. 100%. They even looked female (to me) on scan pics.
All 3 were boys Grin.
Anyone who tells you they "just knew" was just lucky with their guesswork.

Freyathecatt · 09/04/2015 12:01

I was 100% certain i was having a boy. Had a girl.

Luciferbox · 09/04/2015 12:02

The last one I knew. This time I didn't have a clue. It's guess work.

madreloco · 09/04/2015 12:04

It's utter nonsense. Nobody knows. 50% of people who guess will be right and some of them will manage to convince themselves that they actually knew. Nope, guessing.

happybunny2014 · 09/04/2015 12:59

Guess work I'd say.
I guessed at boy for my first... had a little girl.
Never properly settled on a "feeling" with this pregnancy but am having another girl according to the scans.

DinkyDye · 09/04/2015 13:01

Well l 'just knew' dd was a girl and l was right.

Lucky guess? Who cares, l got what l wanted and that was a healthy baby and to say told you so! after the delivery

CMOTGilbertBlythe · 09/04/2015 13:06

I was wrong both times.

croon979 · 09/04/2015 13:09

I have no idea if it was coincidence or not but I was convinced from the outset that I am expecting a boy. I was also being drawn to boy outfits and clothing/ names etc. Scans have confirmed that boy is expected....I think that there is often something to be said for a mother's intuition.

Missmonkeypenny · 09/04/2015 13:12

I knew I was having a girl despite having a 14 week scan which told us we were having a boy..I just knew, can't give you any more than that but I just felt so strongly that I was carrying a girl! She's 19 weeks now and definitely a lady.

tomatodizzymum · 09/04/2015 13:14

I was right all 4 times. A deep down feeling, not just a guess.

scarednoob · 09/04/2015 13:18

this is fascinating. i have a vague suspicion, but it might just be because i secretly would prefer a girl (just a little bit, and if i find out that i am having a boy, i am sure i will soon be thinking i must have been mad to think i'd prefer a girl), so i am telling myself it's a boy...

i believe in the power of intuition in other areas - for example after a fair few nightmare boyfriends in the past, i got to learn quite quickly that intuition in relationships is seldom wrong! - but on this i have no clue.
