I know that we're not supposed to worry about it but I'm 30 weeks and I've gained 20lbs already, NHS guidelines say between 20-26lbs most in the 3rd trimester.

I did eat way too much during the first bit as I was so sick and snacking was the only thing that gave me some relief.

I'm try to eat very healthily now and swimming but obviously can't cut calories.

Depends on starting weight. I wouldn't worry too much unless you are eating junk all the time. I try hard to eat healthily but its a bit ruined with my newly acquired cake habit Grin Cadbury Mini Egg cakes..... only had 4 today

I am 31weeks with baby no3 I dont think ive changed apart from a bump not sure of my weight I dont really care I eat when im hungry and im a active person. im still a size 10/12 so I guess Im qyite lucky. with DC 1&2 I was due them both in the month august so I was a little bigger then as it was warm summers. I may just pop even more before due! Grin

crazycatlady82 · 28/03/2015 19:28

I'm 11 weeks and I feel like I am eating non-stop but have gained 1-2lbs.

I did my kcals and they are coming in at 2200-2700! Eek!

My weight gain is still within a normal weight for me.

I wonder if one day I'll wake up a stone heavier Confused

xx

ihatelego · 28/03/2015 21:41

Im 36+2 Ive gained about 2 stone Confused

trilbydoll · 28/03/2015 21:48

I put on 4.5st with dc1. At my 28w appt for dc2 I had put on 3st so well on track!

I was starting from 9.5st, I don't have a particularly big frame.

All I can say to reassure you is I did lose it all, maybe not the last 5lbs or so, I walked a lot and kept eating whatever I wanted, and 3st came off with no effort at all.

Feckeggblue · 28/03/2015 21:50

40 weeks and 3 stone! But like trilby I had v little fat before falling pregnant so I think your busy doses what it needs to

SpamAnderson · 28/03/2015 21:52

I've lost weight this pregnancy! I'm 16 weeks today and I'm down 17lbs so far, whereas in my previous pregnancies I'd gained a good half a stone by now. With dd1 I gained 3 stone 4 (46lbs!!) and dd2 I gained 2 stone 13 (41lbs!) I'm hoping that at the most I will only put back on what I've lost, but I'd prefer it kept coming off as long as baby is doing well :)

sianihedgehog · 28/03/2015 21:53

I gained a full stone in the first trimester, now 21 weeks and haven't gained any more. I can't fit a full meal in now, and am finding it hard to actually eat as much as I did pre pregnancy. I think your body probably knows what it's doing, and the NHS guidelines are just general guides - I wouldn't worry unless it gets to be a really enormous amount of weight!

I gained 3 and a half stone when I was pregnant but I lost it fairly quickly. Dd is 8 months old and I'm about 5 pounds heavier than I was pre-pregnancy but I wanted to gain a bit of weight back then so I'm happy. Don't worry about the guidelines, I worried and there's no need.

applecore0317 · 28/03/2015 22:09

last time I weighed myself I had put on 24lbs from my booking in weight, am 31+3 and am not weighing myself anymore. I was small to start with, have put some on my bum, legs and boobs but its mainly bump.

Not focussing on it now, not much point. As long as my baby is happy :)

Pyjamaramadrama · 28/03/2015 22:45

Thanks all.

I don't think it's helped that people have constantly commented on how 'massive' I am.

I've had my bump poked by someone saying 'omg you're going to get really big', I've been called a fat lump, I've had people saying I look further along than I am and acting all shocked.

Ironically when I was pregnant with ds I constantly had the opposite and comments about how I was too small, going to have a small baby (he was actually born a big weight).

I know everyone's got something to say when you're pregnant but it has got to me.

Fwiw my bmi was 23 pre pregnancy so the upper end of healthy weight but I'm all boobs, hips and bum, and I think my bumps pretty average.

2 stone so far and have 3.5 weeks to go Blush my weight barely changed until about 20 weeks.

I'm not too worried, hopefully BFing and lots of summer walks will have it off in no time.

Try not to worry, as long as you're not eating ridiculous amounts, your body will do what it wants anyway!

ihatelego · 28/03/2015 23:02

try not to worry about your bump size and people's comments, i've driven myslef crazy in this pregnancy worrying about being too big/too small.. when I was 6 weeks pregnant a gyno honestly thought i was 20-22 weeks, then last month i had a mum at DS school who kept saying I was tiny which i found quite upsetting but i think if you midwife is happy and doesn't have a concern about your size then it's best to not get hung up on it! Roseybee10 · 28/03/2015 23:18

That's not bad at all. Recommended gain is 25-35lbs overall so you seem on target.
I gained most of my weight in 2nd trimester tbh.
I gained 23lbs with dd2 but 45lb with dd1.

seaoflove · 29/03/2015 10:25

I daren't check, but at 32 weeks it must be AT LEAST two stone. I have the most enormous bump. It seems to be mostly fluid, so I'm really hoping I lose a lot when this baby is born.

avocadotoast · 29/03/2015 10:31

I'm 33 weeks and when I checked last week I'd put on about 21lb (about a stone and half I think).

Someone posted a link to this calculator before which is really useful, it shows what you can expect to gain (although don't skip to the end, it is terrifying): www.calculator.net/pregnancy-weight-gain-calculator.html

olympicsrock · 29/03/2015 10:32

I am 23 weeks and have put on 3 pounds so far, but have really gone off food particularly in the evenings. And not drinking alcohol of course.
Bit of a relief as I was 2 stone overweight to start with. Midwife had suggested that 16 pounds or 8 kg would be a sensible weight gain for me.

NickyEds · 29/03/2015 10:48

With ds I lost "me" weight so i weighed less when he was 3 weeks old than I did when he was conceived. Put this mainly down to not drinking, eating pretty well (never really "for two") and still exercising quite a lot.

I haven't weighed myself this pregnancy but I had to guess I'd say.....ooh....I don't know......around 24 stone. At least. Got morning sickness for the first 3 months and pasta and white bread were the only things that made me feel better. Got ds (15 months) to look after so I'm too knackered to do much exercise. You could park a car in the shadow of my bump.

Meh I'll try to lose it when she's born.

PebbleTTC · 29/03/2015 10:59

I'm 22 weeks and Iv gained about 7kg :-(

Has anyone any tips for controlling weight gain?

PebbleTTC · 29/03/2015 11:01

Forgot to add I'm 5 ft 3 and now almost 87kg

NickyEds · 29/03/2015 11:03

PebbleTTC Even if you want to don't eat a muffin every day. I swear that's what's done for me Grin

avocadotoast · 29/03/2015 11:09

Pebble, probably the best way is to keep a really close eye on your diet (which is easier said than done - if you're anything like me you'll be pretty much living on sausage rolls and Lucozade Wink).

Obviously you won't be up to doing strenuous exercise but trying to keep active does help. Even if it's just a swimming class each week, or walking to and from the bus stop, or going out for a walk on your lunch break.

Carrierpenguin · 29/03/2015 13:58

I'm 21 weeks and have put on a stone and a half...I've had quite a lot of life stresses recently though and have been grazing on nuts which are healthy but I've probably had more than I need Grin

I am conscious I should watch what I'm eating, however with dc1 I put on two stone and lost it all post birth through breastfeeding a hungry baby and going for walks with the pram!
