Where were you when you went in to labour?

And/or what were you doing?

With DD I was supposed to be being induced but in the end she decided to come without encouragement but fairly speedily, so it was just as well I was in hospital already!

Am now 36+3 with #2 and wondering how s/he will make his/her appearance, especially having dreamt last night that I was in labour!

In hospital's 'triage area' whilst on the monitor

No dramatic waters breaking in B&Q or anything fun like that Grin

In bed both times, just contractions, but 3mins apart from the start. 4am with DD, had been out for a Chinese and a dance with some friends the night before. 6am with DS, had had sex the night before as an attempt to encourage labour.

DDs labour was 24 hours from 1st contraction to delivery, DSs was 4.5 hours from 1st contraction to delivery (in active labour for 22 mins!). Waters broke manually both times.

At my baby shower Grin - although I awas clueless and thought it was indigestion/back pain. It was only when my waters broke half an hour later when I got home that I realised what was going on.

on DD2 I was in the hospital and they wanted to induce me a few days later (big baby, lots of fluid). They did an exam to see when they needed to get me in.... and I was 5 or 6cm already Grin

I thought it through and it's pretty boring but here:

DS1 - induced, so hospital
DS2 - induced, so hospital
DS3 - home
DS4 - had ELSC
DS5 - home
DD - home
DS6 - home

I guess it would be nice to have some funny or interesting stories, but the reality is that I was very worried anything would happen while I'm not home (or in hospital)
so I got my wishesSmile

Both times sat on bed early evening watching tv when I had the Hollywood gush of waters breaking. Still blue in 36 and 48 hours before DC arrived though!

Incidentally both days I had been shopping in Waitrose which is something I never do....

DC1 - at home. DC2 - shopping in Greenwich Market with car (and hospital) on the other side of the river. Had to catch a taxi arranging to meet friends on the way to take DD. DS1 arrived within 30 minutes of getting to the hospital.

DS1-induction
DS2-at home at 2.50am, though I had explosive diarrhoea from a chilli I'd eaten, looked in loo and it was blood and water not poo. DS born in hospital triage room at 3.10am, fastest drive of our life.
Dd-my waters went driving back from a sweep. Consultant had huge hands Confused and said with an evil grin before sweep 'I will make sure you have this baby tonight' he was right, she was born that night.

In hospital, induced. Was shit actually, early labour kicked in just as DH got booted out for the night, so spent entire night chewing my pillow and trying not to wake the other women on the ward. Would have so much preferred to stomp around my own home groaning and watching crap on TV.

In bed asleep at 2am, felt/heard my waters break, rushed not actually that fast though to the toilet. It was greeny brown so had to go straight to hospital, 4 hours later DS was born by EMCS as he was breech (he's still a tad dramatic now).

In bed asleep at 4am, felt/heard them again, rushed to the toilet, but no waters (I actually have no idea where they were Blush but had a bloody show) DD was born at 5:30, considering I was still sitting on the toilet at home at 4:30 saying I couldn't get up, it's impressive that we made it in time

The first time I was in the house and had a show late afternoon then contractions started an hour later.
Second time I knew in the morning I was going into labour soon, no idea why. Had a show in afternoon at home and contractions started a few hours later in the evening. X

First proper contraction was in the car, on the way to being induced at the hospital. DH was paranoid that my waters would go on the car upholstery but luckily that didn't happen until I was safely on the ward!

I was in the pub. It was an NCT meet up and ds was last of the group to be born. I didn't leave early though. Had a home birth and the pub was not far from home.
